Regan Smith and the #4 Ginn Racing Car are not on the primilary entry list for Saturday's Busch race at Kentucky. Smith isn't entered at Michigan either.

No Brad Kesolowski either out of the regulars.

considering how well Smith's been running in Busch, not a smart move. likely he'd stand a real chance of challenging for victory at Kentucky.

Ginn announced that they weren't in the business to finish 5th or 6th in the Busch standings but to get Regan ready for a fulltime Cup ride. What I heard was that they have been using some of the sponsor money from their Cup organization to fund the Busch deal and the Busch purse is so small that it's taking more than they want to give up fromt heir Cup side so they're cutting back on Busch and focusing on their Cup cars. This week I believe that Regan is running the ARCA race in Michigan. They can use their Cup crew and Cup cars for Regan. Less expense.

Shame for Regan as he could have finished top 5 in the Busch series but long term it won't affect him as long as he gets into Cup full time.

That makes sense. There's no way he can win the Busch championship anyway. It's unfortunate that NASCAR treats both the Busch and Craftsman Truck series like red-headed step-children.

Smith to Compete in Kentucky Busch Race

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (June 13, 2007) -- After a re-evaluation, Ginn Racing driver Regan Smith will compete in this weekend's NASCAR Busch Series race at Kentucky Speedway. As stated by Ginn Racing last week, Smith's performance has excelled and his flexible schedule is being reworked to continue his preparation for a full-time Nextel Cup ride in 2008. Smith is slated to compete in a variety of racing series during the remaining weekends of the NASCAR season. After Kentucky, Smith will drive the 01 U.S. Army Chevrolet in the Cup races in Sonoma, Calif. (June 24) and New Hampshire (July 1). He shares the 01 Cup ride with veteran Mark Martin. Smith is also scheduled to drive in the June 23 NASCAR Grand National Division race in Sonoma as well as the July 6 Busch race at Daytona International Speedway. The 23-year-old driver is ranked fifth in the Busch Series driver point standings, the highest position for a non-Nextel Cup regular. His season record includes three top fives and five top 10s. He finished fifth in Nashville last week.
