For sure it will be an interesting rally!
There is many competitor that could fight for the victory...

We must add Solowow as one of the favorites.. he will be at his home rally with an EVO IX so.. ;)

There is other drivers on the list that don't have any pretensions in ERC or Polish Champ. but they can fight for a top place....I'm talking about Svedlund and Holowczyc!

Hello!

It certainly looks like a great field. Don't forget about Travaglia in the Evo. He'll be competative as well.

But where is Anton Alen in the Fiat Punto S2000? I heard that he is supposed to enter as well. I understand that the entry list is still open. Correct? Is it possible that he'll enter?

Best!
Simon

No, it isn't possible to add any new entry, entry list is closed. And as I know, Abarth drivers (also Alén) starts only in IRC event.

Remember Rajd Polski 2005(I think)when Bouffier was taking part to the rally in a 206 S1600 from Peugeot Polski already, he wasn't ridiculous at all !! :D

And he takes part to the developpment of the 207 too, so one can't really says he doesn't know the car well :p :

Nobody knows anything Tom. It came as a total surprise here as well.

In the meantime Tomasz Czopik said that in the Rally of Poland he will drive the old Polo. The one he had in Croatia, that is lighter and has better engine, he can't use because the engine needs revision and Rene Georges team said that they can't prepare it in time for Rally of Poland.

I bet they want to spare it for Ypres for Freddy, which for me is logic... :)

The older Polo has won rallys too, so no worries ;)

Simon knows, that with S1600 he hasnt any chances against 4WD cars on gravel. So he starts with R2, which is much cheaper...

Bryan Bouffier is already in Poland and according to one of the Polish rally forums he had a test session yesterday. He was driving the 207 S2000 near Mikolajki, the headquarters of the rally.

Also other divers are having their test sessions on the gravel roads of Mazury lake district. Holowczyc (Subaru from Bernard Munster), Solowow (Mitsubishi) and Lubiak (Punto S2000) are testing intensively.

Here you can see some photos taken durig the shared test of Kajetanowicz, Pasecki and Typa:

In the rally of Turkey, which is also gravel, he also used his Evo. I think (pure speculation) that he uses this car on gravel to save his S2000. I have no problem with this, because he needs his FIAT for the Belgian Ypres Westhoek Rally... ;)

Manu Guigou (#53 on the entry list), who will drive Renault Clio R3, said that the rally is much longer and more difficult than the rallies in French gravel championship, but he is very happy to be in Poland. He will be co-driven by former Bouffier's co-driver, Xavier Panseri. Guigou said that Renault has plans to enter more ERC and IRC rounds to promote Clio R3.

Only 15s separate him from 5th overall position and the big 36km long stage remains before end of rally :bounce:

Travaglia .... +16 in ERC Standing..... is it correct?
Yes you are right!!

Two winners, Svedlund and Renato Travaglia
Svedlund deserves this victory. He has an high potential.

In the next tarmac rallys, specially in Ypres and Madeira, the ERC drivers must show another pace. In Poland Isik and Solowow were very cautious and it was easy to score points. Don't forget that in Ypres, Madeira and Barum this drivers will fight against some IRC drivers like Ojeda, Vouilloz, Navarra, who made the Championship registration!!

I guess that will not be easy for him. In Belgium He must fight against great drivers with factory cars. In my opinion, I think he did a mistake when he has decided not to go to Poland. I know that he is not a gravel specialist, but I think that he had a good chance to score some points in Poland!

Tom206WRC: about the staring order. I know in Ypres last year they started in the order of the FIA A, or FIA B pilot and then the rest. That was also on day 2. Maybe that explains the start order in Poland?
My father said that FIA nominated drivers have the right to start in front, also in day 2.

Everything about starting order (also for second leg) is about stewards of the meeting and director of the race. They can make changes with anybody, if they want. Some stewards are prefering drivers with FIA priority, but for example I saw one steward, who wants in one rally all FIA B drivers starting on the top in second leg and on other rally he told, he has never done it and it is stupid rule...

So, if I am true, points for Rajd Polski:

Final
Travaglia 10
Solowow 8
Isik 6
Tlustak 5
Czopik 4

Day1
Travaglia 3
Solowow 2
Isik 1

Day2
Travaglia 3
Solowow 2
Czopik 1

So overall standings is: http://www.autosport.cz/souteze/bodovani.php?id=15

Tom206WRC: this is why Bouffier got punnished:

Later in the evening, he was one of three drivers given an extra 30 seconds penalty for missing a chicane. Bryan Bouffier was given the same penalty, which dropped the Frenchman from eighth to eleventh.

Anyone knows what happened to Kajetanowicz?

You won't believe it, but Kajetanowicz destroyed suspension in his Mitsubishi during a free passage of SS2 after Kuzaj's crash :)
That is of course ridiculous, but... did you see his stage times on the second leg? They were shocking!

Me and my wife visited first time rally in Poland, spectating stages 1 - 3 - 7 and 9. And drove thru stage 8/11 previous night.

Some very nice sections, some too long boring sections. Lot of dust. We enjoyed most the jump (almost Finnish style) on SS3.

Lot of spectators but unfortunately little conversations with them as we can not speak Polish. Still I wonder nobody gave any 'pre rally advice' to us on this forum, though average Polish spectators do not understand English.

But all in all, nice visit, nice rally. And some great fotoes here.

I'm glad you enjoyed the rally, ettelbruck
We saw stages 3, 5 and 7 on day one and then 10 and 12 on day two. Unfortunately this year our rally had the "WRC" format, which means that if you didn't hurry and didn't break the traffic rules on the road sections, you would see only 4 or maximum 5 stages in two days! You drive 600 km and see only 5 places - that's disgusting!
In 2005, when Rally of Poland wasn't a WRC candidate, we easily saw 7 or 8 stages.
As far as English knowledge is concerned, I think it's still better than in Italy or France, but definitely not as good as in Finland!
