Come on Škoda, make it a reality and come join us in 2027 please!

And on that subject, Dirtfish seems to think the same: https://dirtfish.com/rally/wrc/dear-skoda-please-make-this-concept-a-real-rally-car/

Not another SUV, please. Even worst, it's a "coupé" SUV!

It's an EV. That gives the answer itself. Nobody sane would try to promote sales of an EV with a CE rallycar.

I know it’s fashionable to bash Coupe SUVs but to me this still has more of a Coupe shape than cars which are called coupes just because they have three doors (Hyundai i20, BMW 1 Series etc)

Although as Mirek says it wouldn’t make sense to promote this in WRC (even though it would be possible with not-proper-rallycar Rally1 regulations.

It looks like a slightly curved brick on wheels and it's about twice as high as coupe shall be.

i posted on the other topic, havent seen this one, but they are openly saying this is an electric race car based on that electric fabia they were running in austria. fia wants an electric class in rallying asap. i started to mentally conecting the dots with that "excitement emoji" skoda posted on social media when the new rules started to be debated - which included rally2+ kits - (they can do if they want) and an all electric class.

ewrc doesn't work for me now but if you search for Raimund Baumschlager you'll find it.

jesus christ i was typing felix baumgartner hahahahaha the guy who did the redbull jump from the sky or whatever.
but eh, raimund did 3 events on the "skoda kreisel re-x1" apparently.

"zero car" in one event.
P3 in another.
DNF in another.

eh

The Austrian championship was running a special schedule of the events just to make it possible for the car to finish each loop. Also I heard the car wasn't following the FIA rules in terms of some safety features etc. It was more of a running prototype.

That proved that it is perfectly possible to run an electric rally car that is not insanely slow and boring (looking at Corsa-e).

Btw. Baumschlager himself said that the Austrian event schedule was exactly the same as the year before, so dunno where the schedule rumors come from.

Even if it would need some itenary changes or even short charging after each stage, who cares? A rally schedule is anything but set in stone for all eternity. But the way fast charging is developing I doubt they need to be any massive changes (check out the upgraded Taycan or Polestar 5 values).

The only real issue is that there needs to be an artificial sound at some level, likely dictated by the rules.
