According to the above article on GrandPrix.com Ferrari are going back to a deeper red similar to the colour they ran in the '70's and '80's.
I certainly hope this is true but the article has no pictures and I haven't found any mention of it on other F1 sites. Can anybody confirm this?

If was the colour was changed to suit Marlboro, it shouldn't change as they are still sponsored by them?

It might be different, but I cannot really tell:

I saw your sig and I will start praying for one of these cars. I aim to put it on my verandah.

I can't see any significant difference with the regular car?

I can't see any difference either. It would be strange if they went away from Marlboro red at one of the few races they can actually use Marlboro branding.
How many people around the world do know exactly which shade of red is the Marlboro Red?
Not too many I suppose!

Looks darker to me but it could just be the light.

The shade of red barely matters any more. The team that once carried the 'Ferrari red' is so far removed from the current 'Marlboro reds', and if the sponsor is only now recognising the difference it's too late.

Did anyone noticed the wet tyres?

I did, but I don't know what to make of it.

Wet tires are cheaper so if one punctures on debris left sitting around it's not so big of a deal.

I don't mind if it gets darker, but I do if it turns pale and pink :D
Because dry tyres are strictly controlled in terms of how many sets a team can use over the course of a grand prix weekend. They could have probably obtained some dry tyres in order to take the promotional shots but it would have been a lot of paperwork to do.
On the other hand teams can use as many wet tyres as they like with no restrictions or permissions or paperwork to be done.
On this picture the red looks really dark.

That's the red of old, not the orangish, dayglow Marlboro "red".

That certainly looks better although you can hardly see any difference in other photos.

nice color!
Yep it's definitely metalized and darker shade of red. But why metalized?
I hate to think about Ferrari going the McLaren way and spending half a million to develop a new livery. :s

Looks cool! I always preferred the traditional red Ferrari used to use as opposed to the Malboro red

The motorsports.com photo best showed what I noticed on the SpeedTV broadcast of Friday Practice. The red is deeper and has a metallic look to it. Bob Varsha also mentioned something about a chrome appearance to the Marlboro logo. That I couldn't see. I like the change as well.

Agreed, I'm not a fan of the metallic-ness but I'm not sure I'm gonna notice when the cars are moving.

I also like it as it brings back the more traditional Ferrari color. The metallic look in the color is not bad. I am surprised that Marlboro logos have been used in Monaco. I guess Monaco is not part of the EU???

No, Monaco is not part of EU though it has strong custom links with the EU and has even been allowed to publish it's own Euro coins.
Joining the EU is not in Monaco's economical interests as it is a semi tax-haven (similar to Switzerland).
The Metalic looks good to me, and so does the new darker colour.
So, now that MS has gone, Ferrari is allowed to go back to its roots? ;) :p

I think it has to do something with Marlboro. Perhaps they are changing their packaging?
