Bad turnout?

Bad turnout?

Probably that the entry list is bad but I don’t really see this as a reason to postpone it because 3-4 days will not improve dramatically the situation.
I see the reason being to let some additional days to 1 or 2 drivers to have a last chance to obtain the funding (for sure, thinking about Solans because there is no more «valuable*» championship without him)

Bad turnout?

I dont know. This year I am not part of promoter and I dont have so strong connection to organisers of Rally Poland, so I really dont know who is on entry list or not (beside the direct informations from the competitors...).

Impressive... even though their choice of drivers is strange.

I think they pick drivers who have some budget to compete in ERC and help them to get the rest of the budget.

Well, good entry list finally (and for sure, most important is to see Solans, hoping he has find some fundings for the next 2-3 rallies at least)

Quite positive and we can hope even better in Latvia as it will be an excellent preparation for Estonia WRC

Last news from today on ERC website is not that definitive.
He has made the entry but still finds a way to finalise a deal.

Still, clearly absolutely no interest in this ERC season if he is not able to resume (the season would have lasted 3 rounds in that case); clearly becoming a third or fourth-tier championship with even some national championships (at least Spain, France, Czechia, Finland and probably Norway and even possibly Italy) being better than that.
A lot of work to do for the new promoter.

RS
6th June 2022, 18:12
Has Solans’ team travelled to Poland on the offchance then?

Sesks and Torn could be interesting prospects here at least, Marczyk too.

ERC still has a good balanced calendar of different surfaces, extra competition from national drivers and good All-Live coverage for those willing to pay. But there is no doubt the quality of entries is lacking this year.

Well, excellent news if he finds a team supporting him and indeed, as Eddie said, the communication from the team lets imagine it is not the only race; let’s hope at least the deal covers Poland + Latvia (and for sure it’s better if more) to give him a margin.

Apparently the team in question races a lot in Czechia also so could sound positive for Barum (but not sure Vicek accepts to let his car for it).

I think we can be sure that Solans is not going to win this rally. Firstly, he doesn't have much experience in this car and secondly, as far as I remember, Hyundai has never won any European Championship rally. It can't be a coincidence.

But it is still great to have him in this event. Good luck!

Solans has some previous experience with Hyundai:

but it wasn't a good experience. He had a technical problem already on the first stage.

RevistaScratch on the deal....

The Rally of Italy-Sardinia last weekend did nothing but make it difficult for the junior world champion to find a mount.

Due to logistical circumstances, none of the cars present on the Mediterranean island would reach Polish lands . Most of the doors had been closed, but the older Solans did not throw in the towel and continued to contact countless teams to check his availability.

The days passed and the conversations did not advance...until Kowax 2Brally Racing appeared , a formation based in, precisely, Poland. The two parties showed a very high interest in finalizing an agreement, so much so that this will also include the 10th Rally of Latvia. Solans will drive chassis #3 of the Hyundai i20 N Rally2 at both events, the one that claimed victory on its World Championship debut at the 57th Ypres Rally Belgium.

Mechanical issue for Marczyk but should be ok to do it to the end.
Big job from Kristensson and Torn with respectively a Hyundai R5 (Old version) and a Fiesta Rally2
Llarena a bit defensive, should fight for 4th position with Tempestini in the last stage

Big battle between Pellier and the young Finnish Herranen (18 y.o. even if already 50 rally starts) in ERC4, only 0.4s gap before last stage. Not bad job also from the young Palomo (3rd RC4) for a first Nordic gravel Rallye.

And as said elsewhere, good job in Rally3 for Virves (13th overall)

Two non-scores for Solans now makes the Championship almost over unless Llarena has a two DNF's on the remaining events.

Do not fully agree the championship is over as soon as now.
If there is a 8th round (and sounds to be a big IF with the time remaining), the gap is 24 points
But Llarena would have to withdraw his worst result (7 points so far). So the «*real*» gap is 17 points.
Solans has no more right to mistake for sure but 17 points is affordable in 3 or 4 rounds if we take a look to Solans’ speed so far. A not-so-good result from Llarena (as in Fafe) could be enough if Solans does well.

But for sure, there is a big IF: will Solans be able to find a car for all the last rounds? (Agreement with Kowax is Poland and Latvia only at the moment as far as I understand)
