A completely new car concept comes in for next season. Always exiting.

How far are the teams in making and testing them out?

What will be the areas the team will be different and struggle?
Will the new 18" low profile tyres make a difference to the suspension travel when you loose the cushion the old rubber had?

I haven't really seen any recent news on the new cars, so these are just mere guesses.

I suspect ground effect probably means moving to a low rake car for Red Bull & Torro Rosso so that may set them back a bit initially.

Design freedom looks a lot more restricted, a lot tighter than last year with much reduced scope for innovative ideas but I guess we will have to wait and see if that truly is the case and whether the cars will all end up being very similar.
The suspension will likely be even more of a key development area with the engineers having to start out again from pretty much a clean slate due to the new wheel/tyre combo.

DRS will also have to be fettled with... if it turns out as promised and the cars really can follow closer.

Who knows?

So what do you think of the 2022 car so far?
Does it give better racing than in 21?
More change needed for 2023?

Though slower, I do think so far they have given better racing. Cars can follow close for much longer with less impact on tire deg and cooling. Hopefully as all the teams come to grips with the regs they will get faster while still retaining the ability to follow close.

I was one of the ones concerned that they made the design limitations a bit too tight and many cars would be very similar, but the actual cars have just blown that out of the water. It will be interesting to see if they morph towards certain features being much more similar as years go by and the teams adapt.
