Welcome to the 2021 FGP Season!

In FGP we pick a Formula One team with a budget of $48,000,000 for the 2021 season.

To complete the team, pick three drivers (two official drivers and a 3rd driver), a chassis and an team engine.
For the third driver choice, which costs £1m, is any driver that does not appear on the price list.
Finally, pick a bonus GP which will score double points for your team at that race.

Once complete please choose a name for the team and then post your entry in this thread.

You have until the end of the day on March 27th, 2021 to submit your team.

==Press Release==
So we decided to further distance ourselves from Team McMafia in 2021, although we wanted a driver lineup of Gasly and Stroll our analysts fear that Stroll might not pull his weight and Vettel, despite a diminished reputation, will probably outshine him (if there are no shenanigans within the team). The loss of Gasly will be slightly offset with the choice of Tsunoda, a rising star, who we feel might produce decent results. Hulkenberg as the 3rd driver seems like an easy decision, given the continued covid crisis as well as being well established as capable of showing up in a moments notice and delivering. But ultimately we decided with Albon for 2 reasons. The odds are in his favor with 4 available seats and only Gasly of those 4 having come down with Covid. The chasis will be continued with Mercedes as between Bottas and Hamilton it is almost a guarantee that 1 will be on a podium more often than not. Our curiosity with the Ferrari engine and our faith that they have actually turned the corner on their decline makes this choice an absolute steal. The Bonus GP will be Azerbaijan. This GP, more than any other seems to through up unpredictable results year in and year out.

Sorry, didn't really see that. I had originally planned to have Kimi as second driver, but ultimately went for Tsunoda after his strong showing in winter testing.
Well, at least the third driver and bonus race are different ;)

Sticking with RB again, hoping they can up the game to challenge Merc, and with Sergio on board I think they might find the cracks. I'm expecting Merc to have an at least equal car though the year as they develop, but I suspect that Bottas 2.0 will be the weak spot. They are so used to winning that some pressure might be hard on the team as well.

Or I could have it all wrong, as it the case usually! :laugh: I haven't been on the FGP podium in 10 years, so I should have just drank heavily then picked a team out of the random draw.

Team "Bag Bomb" is back , baby .

We'll be running Alonso and Stroll , and they'll be in an RB chassis with a Ferrari lump , and the mighty Hulk is our third driver , so , watch out kids !

We plan on coming first and second at Imola , so that will be our choice for the bonus race .

She thinks she's got a hot team , so humour her if you will .

She wants to run Danny Ric and wee Russell in the car , with an Alpine chassis and a Ferrari lump , and Albon as third driver .
And , she wants Australia as her bonus , as she'd like to see a double "shoey" when her Aussie wins .

Hey Mr. Jones , any chance you could allow some other team changes , if those teams are too close to others in make-up ?

I would suggest the first race should stand as a result , and "first posters" might need to make the request for change .
If everyone was to agree , and , most importantly , it isn't too much of a pain in the posterior for yourself , could we see it done ?

Do you want to make changes during the season?

No , but a couple of team principals mentioned they had teams posted by others that were a little too close to their own team's make-up .

My team change request was posted before the deadline , but I felt a little guilty that it was accepted when the others weren't .

Truefan and Mia both mentioned it .
They must have had the same " what the heck" moment that Taz had when he realized that bagwan had chosen the same team as his .

But , Tazzy spoke up early enough , so we were able to change .

It might be too late now , anyway .
And , maybe too complicated .

Sorry for being confusing .

Not with the team I have. I was just hoping to be mid table but I think Mercedes and Lewis may be in for a hard road because Red Bull are taking the fight to them. Plus I had hoped the Russell would be getting a tenth place here and there which, for our purposes, would put the Williams above a few more teams and get me a 7th or 8th in the chassis-engine points. But none of this has happened so last I am.

Right now, you should be trying to figure out the consequences of beating your wifes team. That could be a costly error. :laugh:

At lot of interesting picks in FGP this year. I guess we will see how it pans out. Not a single Merc/Merc team, but a few all Ferrari and all RB teams. I would have thought at least someone would have bet on Merc to dominate again.

NOW order has been restored. But you're still in the fight Taz, and the season is far from over.

Am I not to late has actually already used their bonus GP, so the two of you are next behind the tie for the top three. I guess our bonus GP's will decide the season if RB stays strong. I'm actually doubting that will happen, but it could.

Team Z should jump ahead next week if RB get it right again. I was thinking they had Austria for a bonus GP, but had to look because I thought it was the first one.

But I suspect the season will still have some big changes. With so many teams splitting engine and chassis this year, a shake up at a race or two could really wreak havoc on the FGP.

I'm not sure, but that has to be at least one of the highest single race scores I've seen, if not the highest. That team swept the top 4 finishing positions!

I actually had to think about it for a second when I saw the score, since usually picking good drivers or teams is the only option, so most of the time scores are below 50... or 100 if a bonus GP.

But I did find the thread where you volunteered to take over the FGP. That was in 2007, and is pretty much as far as you can take the forums back.

You do deserve an award. Shame we can't track down the physical trophy that existed at some point. I did some searching but can't find much of the old stuff to figure it out.

I'm not sure what would have caused the site to disappear, but at least you know all the teams this year. If we have to, I might be able to search back and keep some records of who won the various seasons at least.

It has been a long time Bagwan. I remember well when the F1 arguments were about Schumacher and whoever had a shot at beating him. How times have changed, but we have seen a lot of great racing and 6 new WDC's in that time.

Maybe we should do it like the sprint. Give him a medal or trophy then parade him around for a lap in the back of a big truck. :laugh:

But I agree, he deserves it for all his cat herding over the years and keeping us straight.

I'm still getting the same error code. If it works for you there is a chance there's just a problem with permissions and sharing.

Or it could be stored in your browser. Sometimes using an alternate browser or emptying the cache
will let you know if this is the case.

Here's a teaser description :
The base of the disc is made of dark ebony wood , sourced from a friend who makes stringed instruments .
It takes the form of a tire from the earliest days of racing .
Inside the rim is set an old-school steering wheel made of sterling silver .

On the back , in the center , is set an actual piece of an F1 car , sourced from the grass at the first/second corner in Montreal in 2004 .
I could be wrong , but I seem to remember it being a piece of a Jaguar , maybe Webber's .

It looks like FGP is coming down to the last race as well. There isn't much room at the top, and the team mix can make it swing in a number of directions this time.

I'm going to send it up the inside and make it stick. But if that happens I would still be tied with Team Z.... I'm not sure where the tiebreaker would fall. But if I can't make it stick up the inside, I could be off the podium and the battle it between FART F1 and Mia.

Let me go check the rear wing spec before the race............

I shall be sending it to him tomorrow , as there have been multiple mix-ups with the 14 different musical acts that were booked for the gala event to commemorate the 14 years of service .
And then there are the 14 half-size dioramas of the pit boxes of the winning teams of all those years that were set to be displayed along the promenade to the venue .
I almost forgot the 14 ice sculptures of all the other people named Jones that I could think of ( Quincy , Barnaby , Davy , etc.) .

All cancelled , and all because the key to the shed is missing and even if I found it , I'm not sure that a drum kit will fit in there , even if I did move the lawn mower out , let alone a band .

I want to mention before anybody asks , that the neither the FIA nor Michael Masi was involved at all in any of the decision making process that went into either the creation or awarding of this particular title .

And , no animals were un-necessarily tortured during the making of the actual medal as far as I recall .

Ceremonially speaking , it would be most proper to have someone else open the package and pin your medal on you .
They could also help you drink the champagne , which I assume you've already procured .

All fun aside , I'm hoping you and yours made it through the big winds that went through the other night .
It was hairy enough around here , but much worse down all the way to Kentucky .

I thought at best I might tie with Team Z, but Yuki made all the difference in the final race.

It's been 10 years since I've been on the FGP podium. But I had just as much fun the years I picked a horrible team.

Next year should be a real crap shoot. With the limited testing none of us will really know what cars are going to come together with the new regs.

And , what about number 4 in the standings ?
Don't they deserve a wave ?

The accolades given out for this championship are all a shamble .
How can something like this happen ?

Could it be that N. Jones(if that really is his real name) is being paid off by some as yet un-named racing team to limit the waves ?

And , what's up with that total omission of all things "number 4" ?
Is that just some kind of strange superstition common to wherever this N.( if that really is his initial ) ?
Or , is "number 4" the previously mentioned "un-named racing team" ?

I want to appeal the wave , and hope you won't waive the appeal .

I for one, am certain that all decisions made my N. Jones have been fair and just. I am certain that the truck full of quality beer and other fine spirits that was delivered to his home had nothing to do with me, and hopefully none of the other podium sharing participants.

That is our story, and we are sticking to it. :D

Congrats to everyone who finished above us, it appears that Massi is not the only one 'on the take'. What gifts are required to have everyone else bar myself to be hit by race bans next season Mr Jones?
You guys outside the top ten really need to up your game if you want to keep hold of your sponsors for next year.
Rothmans said they were happy enough with our teams performance this season but have still announced that they are in talks with Loco Americano F1 for next year. :( They are going to regret that decision in the biggest possible way when we take the title next year...
Bagwan's bribe is paltry compared to the riches heading west to seal it. Watch this space..

I finished in 14th place , so I am pretty sure that medal I made wasn't taken as a bribe .
I am in the clear , but there are dark clouds , and men in fedoras lurking around .

The Trophy wife wants to thank N. Jones for having put in a team that kept her off the bottom of the standings .
George and Danny let her down this year , but she may keep them on the team next year anyway .

Just in case , I've got my team analysts working on just how big a trophy I'd have to make , to make it to first place , given a medal got me to 14th .
