In 2010, the Mercedes-Benz F1 team joined the F1 paddock as a returning works team. After many years of supplying engines to Mclaren, the Mercedes team posed a competitive problem for the multiple world champions Mclaren. Apart from the inherent knowledge gained by Mercedes from the period of their partnership, the flux of Mclaren personels to the newly formed Mercedes teams was a frictional occurence in the long Mclaren-Mercedes partnership.
After three years of sharing engine with the Mercedes team, Ron Dennis the Mclaren Team Principal and CEO, declared they were dropping Mercedes engine for a renewed partnership with Honda in 2013. A partnership that failed miserably and relegated Mclaren into the depths of the midfield of the grid, where they reside today. Unfortuantely, Mclaren dropped the Mercedes engine just as it was emerging to be the most dominant engine of the emerging new era.
After an initial two lacklustre years in the midfields, Mercedes acquired the services of a frustrated Lewis Hamilton who was quite disillusioned by the management of Mclaren Team Principal Martin Whitmarsh. Hamilton took a spectacular risk leaving a front end team to join a new team in the midfield of the grid. A partnership that turned out to be the stuff of dreams.
After a year of aclimatization to the Mercedes work environment and race car in 2013, the following 2014 season introduced the new hybrid engine regulation that effectively propelled Mercedes to the very front of the grid. In his second year at Mercedes, Hamilton won his 2nd F1 Driver World championship title and Mercedes' first constructors title since returning to F1. Also, justifying their decision to drop seven times world champion Michael Schumacher from the team. Thereafter, producing some of the most thrillling inter-teammate rivalry spanning 2013 to 2016 between Hamilton and Nico Rosberg.

Petronas AMG Mercedes is a tornado force of nature. It is a wild storm unleached unto a race track in the hands of Lewis Hamilton. It is a dragon in attacking descent bellowing angry flames from its nostrils round a fast flowing twisty race track. They are one of the best demonstration of human genius.
