google earth updates

hi
does anyone here know how often the satilite photos on google earth are updated? if not, where can I find out? (i am looking to find out for new zealand in particular, but anywhere would be good)

any info appreciated.

My home town in Argentina was updated about two years ago. My current town in Canada is still showing a crop where there is a mall and a neighbourhood now. The picture is from 02 or earlier.
