1. Ogier will be more comfortable in his new car than Tänak. I predict Ogier to be more often faster than Tänak in rallies where neither has technical issues. If this proves to be difficult to measure, we’ll go down to counting better stage results...
2. Neuville and Tänak will end up in a situation where one has to help the other for personal title or stop racing each other to preserve manufacturer points. Subsequently Autosport will publish an article which talks about the tense situation in the team between these two star drivers.
3. Latvala will continue his 2018/2019 form in the rallies he starts. He will make top 3 stage times, but won’t finish on the podium.
4. Rovanperä will get his career first stage win on a super special stage in Mexico.
5. Only 4 stages (not counting repeats) will be over 35 km long and only one of them over 40 km.

Ok, here we go...
1. Toyota Yaris will win more rallies than Hyundai i20 in the WRC.
2. Neuville will win more rallies than Tänak.
3. Ogier to give his first not-so-definitive-like-answer for a question about 2021 before Mexico - yet he won't officially announce anything before Wales.
4. M-Sport driver will finish fourth in the drivers' championship.
5. Second consecutive season without a win for the Finns.

Yay crystal ball time!
1. Toyota relinquishes their WCC in the final round.
2. Ogier WDC, Neuville runner up as Tanak is forced to adapt his driving style to Theirry's car.
3. Evans gets close to winning a rally but only manages 2nd place out of his characteristic misfortune. He'll be the best of the rest again.
4. Rovanpera wins in Sweden or Sardegna but struggles on tarmac and bins a few Yarises, returning in rally 2 and ends up in the top 3 of most power stage points won.
5. Latvala bins it into a snowbank in Sweden on Friday but wins in Finland, crying on the podium yet remaining out of a seat for 2021 :(

Yay crystal ball time!
3. Evans gets close to winning a rally but only manages 2nd place out of his characteristic misfortune. He'll be the best of the rest again.
He wasn't "best of the rest" this year, so this is impossible. He was 5th as per article 10.1.1 of the sporting regulations:
10.1.1 According to the greater number of first places, then second places, then third places, etc.,
achieved in the final classifications on their respective Championship, counting only those rallies which have
served to make up their points total.
"Shared 4th" is just something D. Evans made up without looking at the standings and actually checking rules.

1 Tanak and Ogier consistently faster than the rest - early in the season - till *road sweeping* (likely big topic for 2020) evens the battle.

1) Ogier powers to the title and thanks Tanak publicly, because it's all Ott's doing (moving to Hyundai and basically handing Ogier a seat in the Yaris). Estonia realises Tanak has been a mug, so half of his fans crawl into hibernation until 2021 comes around.
2) Despite Ogier winning the title, 3 Toyota's will retire from mechanical failure on the same rally, prompting NOT to finally stop lurking and post again. His first post back doesn't really need me to introduce it - but for those on here who are either new or a bit slow - his post will contain the now renowned "Village Team" term.
3) Suninen and Lappi become romantically involved with eachother after spending countless quiet evenings drowning their sorrows, upon realising Kalle is already on the same level/ better than the both of them.
4) Evans wins an event (his 1st proper without a massive tyre advantage), but has an overall up and down season. However, David Evans proclaims 2021 will be Elfyn's year and he can win the championship after a solid end to the 2020 campaign.
5) MKnight will spend the 2020 season trawling through this thread and using peoples predictions against them in any arguments/ debates/ differing of opinions that naturally pop up on this forum ;)

Yes, you won a point already.
The reason is very simple. Some people make predictions here and 1 month later deny they ever said something like that. This is the easiest place to find it in a few seconds.
You romantic prediction will be brought up every time an interesting picture comes up from that camp.

Fair point, it will be difficult. I suppose I will have to go through the each rally from 2019 and 2020 and see who from Meeke/Kalle had rally winning/podium pace from the start, would that be fair?

Hyundai had a lot of issues with set up even this year despite pure speed is OK (great, actually). Don´t look at Neuville, look at second best Hyundai each rally and its speed. And now look at speed of second best Toyota. And now look at speed of Ogier in comparison with Lappi. And I assume Lappi is not the slowest driver there. ...All and all it is tricky decision to switch from Toyota to Hyundai. Even speed of Ford is much more predictable...Pure speed not as good as Hyundai and Toyota, but good handling which means you can drive for 4th or 5th place when it suits you.

Most still believe we will have the same top 3 in the championship as the last few years.
So it's not that tanak suddenly can't drive anymore, it's just that ogier suddenly seems to be in the fastest car and tanak in the most difficult one to drive with neuville as his teammate.

While I admit Hyundai seem to be more difficult to set up you paint a very dark picture which is not backed up by stats. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200108/d02323b36dbaffc283035d8e0e126614.jpg

Sorry but even after 35 years of racing and rally I still have a hard time seeing differences of 0,01% in speed... Maybe it's my advanced age. Maybe its something else but the differences between the cars and drivers do amount to fractions of 1% and that is hard to look at and see. Maybe I need better glasses???

2. Both Suninen and Lappi fight for wins in several events.
3. Sordo to win another event.
4. Safari Rally becomes a complete failure, remembering us why this country lost it's place in WRC.
5. 3-way fight for the title until the penultimate event.

1. Ogier will be champion.
2. No one outside of Ogier, Tanak & Neuville will break into the top 3.
3. Evans will be the only other rally winner outside championship’s the top 3.
4. Rovanpera’s position in the Toyota team will be questioned by the media in the first half of the season due to poor results/crashes. Podium finishes in the second half of the season will see him then hailed as the best thing since sliced bread.
5. Meeke will develop the R5/Rally2 Yaris for Toyota/TMR but will only drive it twice in the WRC - at Wales Rally GB and Rally Japan after winning the British Rally Championship in a Toyota GB supported Yaris in R4 kit/Rally2 kit form, though the R5/Rally2 will be homologated in time for the final round in September.

Following on from my successful crystal ball 19' predictions
1. Drivers championship goes down to the wire with Ogier, Tanak and Neuville all tied on points going into the last round.
2. At the last round Toyotas wheel problems rear their ugly head again, and Ogier breaks a rim on the first day putting him out of championship contention. Mrs Ogier takes to Twitter and pronounces the Yaris a piece of shit. Ogier retires.
3. Due to the circumstances mentioned in #2 team orders come into play at hyundai with Adamo allowing the driver that gives him the best compliment about the pasta carbonara he serves them at final lunch break to take the spoils.
4. Or, in the slim chance I may be wrong about my 3rd prediction, Adamo engineers it so that Neuville becomes 2020 champion, thus preventing Toyota from signing Neuville for 2021 and keeping the top drivers within his squad.
5. Despite a couple of strong results, JML's hopes of signing for Toyota again for 2021 are fruitless, as he is now seen as a paying driver. 3rd seat goes to Meeke, in a deal set out a year before as part of Ogier taking his seat in 2020. Meeke sites it as best chance for a championship as Ogier will be retired, hence the lack of information around his contract negotiations and a continued loyalty to Toyota throughout 2020.

My first time for Crystal Ball predictions, so let's make it interesting:
1. Neuville starts the year strong and takes the lead in championship early in the year. Tänak and Ogier bounce back by the summer break. Going into the last race of the year, only 6 points seperate the Golden Three. One of those three has a puncture or other non-driver error in the last race. Two of them take the championship battle into the last day of the last rally.
2. Lappi will have a strong middle part of the year, will win 2 rallies this season with one coming in Finland. Will finish 4th overall in the Championship.
3. Evans will be super inconsistent, will have 3-4 podiums in total, but also retire or go into Rally 2 at least 4 times. Rovanpera also inconsistent, will show some great speed at times, but highest finish will be 5th overall.
4. Hyundai comfortably secure manu's championship three rounds before the end of the year. Two times we will see Hyundai 1-2-3.
5. New manufacturer will be announced somewhere end of the year to join in 2022.
meh
20th January 2020, 13:13
1. Loeb is not fastest (end result) Hyundai in any rally
2. Safari will be cancelled
3. Tänak champion again - because of strong second half of the season. (Neuville is asking to be number 1 on-mid season, because he has more points, Adamo refuses).
4. Hyundai champion again - but Toyota is not too far away
5. Lappi is doing at least 2 crashes (from top3 position) when fighting for the win

20th January 2020, 13:17
1 Ogier will leave the champioship with yet another title
2. Hyundai will have major issues between Tanak and Neuville

1. Hyundai champ with a 1-2 (Tanak wins and Neuville ends as close P2);

3. One win for Evans, other for Lappi and 2 podiums for Rovanpera;
4. Ostberg is WRC2 champ and Katjo gets WRC3 title (if he enters the series);
5. 2022 Hybrid systems will cost less than expected and Subaru will announce their future engagement with PS team.

It isn't the fact that fans won't be in confined spaces infecting everyone Eddie, it's various government restrictions on travel and quarantine that will put events at the risk of being cancelled.
For example this weekends MotoGP race in Qatar has been cancelled, following race has been postponed indefinitely.
Although this weekends support races moto2 and moto3 are going ahead because those classes have been testing there this week, but anyone travelling from Italy has to be quarantined for 14 days, many teams are based in Italy in MotoGP so it has been canned.

1. Ogier won 25 stages and Tänak 12. Ogier won two rallies, Tänak only one. Ogier led rallies for 30 stages, Tänak only 16. I think it's quite clear.
2. I don't think we had this situation
3. Based on one stage in Sweden, he would have been as slow as Katsuta, but would he have improved?
4. This was close. He won the short super special in Mexico, but won the Sweden power stage already before
5. I think we only had Cetibeli in Turkey over 35 km. Based on itineraries of rallies which got cancelled, this would have been wrong anyway.

4. Bombshell - Adamo drops Seb Loeb to a 4th car for one event

1 - Neuville will be WC
2 - Hyundai will make two in a row for Manufactures Champ.
3 - Ford will win in Safari
4 - Ogier will be pissed with the team from Portugal forward. Will still be in the mix for the champ until last round
5 - Rovanpera will not finish a rally normally. He will finish every round under rally2
1. Wrong... At this point it will be as Hirvonen or Latvala. Good for wins, will challenge for the champ, will never win it.
2. Right... Adamo is a winner. Let's go number 3
3. Well, no Safari...
4. Kind of right. Ogier sometimes was critic but in the end it was him again
5. Got this one very wrong. Great season by the kid.

1. Toyota will win the manu gold.
2. Toyota will win the drivers title
3. Ogier will not win the drivers title, and will retire
4. Solberg will win rallies in 2020, and do so well that he will drive R1 in 2021.
5. Rovanpera will make the other drivers wonder how he can be so quick on Loose surface. Still need more practice on asphalt.
1. Wrong
2. Right
3. Wrong. But had retired if not for Corona.
4. Won rallies, but probably not Rally1 next year.
5. I would say this is not far off.

1. For the first time in seven years, Monte Carlo is not won by Ogier.
2. Andrea Kaiser will tweet “Shityota” after the Yaris of Ogier breaks down 3 rallies in a row (Mexico, Argentina, Portugal)
3. At some point during the season, there will be a deep discussion again how the best solution in the world is to dump current gen. cars and make R5 category the main one.
4. Neuville will say at every rally that Ogier has the best car. Finishes the season second again.
5. Everyone will use rally2 at Rally Safari.
only 1. and 3. right but im always writing these as half jokes.

1 - Evans will shine at Toyota with only 1 or 2 poor events, will win at least 1 event.
2 - Rovanpera will crash more than Meeke, and won't be as fast
3 - Breen will be in a WRC car for at least 3 events (I predicted the same for 2019 :) )
4 - A round will be cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances (possibly nature again)
5 - Paddon will enter and finish on the podium in Rally NZ
1 - Quite right I think, nearly won the Championship which I didnt expect!
2 - Hard to verify over such a short season but I'd say Im being proved wrong so far
3 - Breen did 2 events and would have done at least Ypres even in a short season so Im giving myself a win here :)
4 - Unfortunately I was right about no4 in a big way and wish I hadn't been.
5 - Again I'm going to give myself a (half) win here as it was confirmed Paddon had NZ planned in a Hyundai

1. correct. Only 2 starts: Monte-Carlo 6. (Neuville 1.), Turkey 3. (Neuville 2.)
2. correct
3. wrong
4. very correct
