Only 2 out of 6 rounds on gravel - and both 1 day events.....

To be honest, I'm not sure what to think; great news for the new event in Clacton, but the rest is similar to this year.

Matt Edwards says he hopes to go for a 3rd BRC next year but it all depends on funding as his Swift backing isnt what it was.

The Hyundai customer programme which helped his and Tom Cave's Rally GB entry may be another possibility.

They need Edwards and Cave to make BRC1 viable.

HKSjbg

Even so, 2 full time entries in the top class would surely point towards it not being viable :(

HKSjbg

What’s putting people off competing for the top honour in UK rallying then? I can’t remember the last time the top class of BRC was so poorly contested in terms of full-season entrants - ‘94 maybe?

Yeah, shame. I was going to do both. I think the Cambrian will be fine, weather looks nice in the morning. Really looking forward to the Cambrian, surprisingly good entry with a number of talking points. Personally I'm particularly interested to see how well Osian can do. And of course the Protons. I think Cave will win.

I bet the FC were gutted having to cancel the event.......and remarkable that they are sure the wind speed will be greater than 47mph.

I feel sorry for the organisers, who are unlikely to get another date this year.

Looking forward to the Cambrian; was originally going to Penmachno, but now it's only running once, I'll go to Gwydyr.

Hope the rally is not too badly affected by thew weather. My local event The Riponian which was due to run on Sunday has just been called off as the Forestry Commission wont allow it to run if the wind speeds are going to be greater than 47 mph. Not sure how accurate the Met Office are...

Hope the Gt Orme isnt cancelled again if divers safety boats cant be out due to stormy seas...

Nice little event with a great R5 entry, we were lucky with the weather. I think we can deduce from this event that the Proton is at least reasonably competitive. I can imagine Oliver Mellors being about a minute and a half down on Matt Edwards in equal machinery. Unfortunate for Cave, but not a rare mistake. That stage (Penmachno) seemed to claim a lot of victims though.

Fast Eddie WRC

From the videos I've watched the Proton looked pretty nimble. But on the hills and out of corners it did seem down on power compared to the other R5's.

Funnily enough I did think it may be down on power, but I noticed it more on acceleration in higher gears, 80kph+. Didn't seem to disappear on the straights as quickly as the other R5s.
