Have you considered that Msport and Hyundai would let their two drivers to pass them?

So at most it would be Tanak(25) -Lappi-Latvala-Breen-Østberg-Neuville(8)-Ogier(6)

... this is why he basically needs both Ogier and Neuville to retire at least into Rally2.

Could be a tricky team decision later if Ogier cant get the time back on Neuville and would be starting first again tomorrow.

Drop his team-mates back to sweep, or try to keep them ahead of Neuville ?

Probably wouldn't be so bad after fewer cars competing, we'll see.

No interference from the tractor or it's position after Mikkelsen exited the chicane. A surprise and a shock I'm sure but probably a kangaroo running in front of the car would've been more problematic than that or passing a striken car. Had to try and remain focused instead of chucking the car off the road.

Nothing compared to what David Higgins faced years ago :D

But it'd mean extra points for Neuville as he'd also gain places. Ogier could still win if they both finish low down.

Clearly it's the driver himself that put the car off the road.
That said crashed cars are normal on rally stages all over the world. Kangaroos are normal on rally stages in AUS.
Tractors in the middle of the chicane are not.

Might have lost concentration (wondering what the tractor was doing there) and missed a note or braking point, it was 3 corners later that he went off so its not like he was off-line from the tractor or anything.

Certainly hasn't been a good season for him though!

You can see the tractor is just leaving the chicane as he arrives, 5seconds before and it would have held him up

Fantastic job from Ostberg so far. Gutted for Mikkelsen; it's hard to keep the focus after passing a tractor.

No matter serious or not, Your statement seems like a vote for QS.
On the serious note, yes FIA, it is actually ridiculous the whole 3 title contenders, on the last rally of the season, not to be in top 5 after first stages.

As it stands things aren't looking too bad and he can easily win the rally, plus who knows how reckless Thierry and Seb might get as they fight between themselves.
