Jeff Gordon should talk to GM & get GOODWRENCH on the hood of his car for 1 race ...
and for that race, his car should be BLACK with the NUMBER 3 on the side of it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jeff Gordon should also make every effort to WIN that race ...
He could call it a tribute to Dale Earnhardt ...

we would see if those beercan tossing yahoos would throw beercans at their blessed sacred cow ... http://www.motorsportforum.com/forums/images/icons/eek.gif
I bet the beercan tossing yahoos wouldn't know what to do when seeing Jeff Gordon driving their hero's colors.

The "stupids" are backing Nascar and the Tracks into a corner. We will probably see a "no coolers" allowed edict soon. And then the "stupids" will have to buy their beer at inflated prices in paper cups at the track.

Lowlifes will always be lowlifes. I for one have way too much respect for people/racing no matter how much I dislike someone to act like that. It's one thing joking around and verbally degrading someone but to actually throw ship at/on the track is completely unacceptable to me.

;) hhmmm... most of my time at the track is spent either....

Instructing drivers or Racing !!!

We really don't spend time drinking beer while at the track.

Now after we are done tracking the cars... we may split a six pack or two... while bench racing !!!

:p : Mears... you have the beer tossing event all to yourself...

I bet you even think you're Good at it !!!

Nice ride ! It looks cherry !
I recognize it as a 66/67 Malibu ..... Marina Blue, isn't it ?
not sure if it is a SS, I think not (no SS badges anyway) ......
what you got under the hood, a 327 - 4 barrel ?
(I feel the 327 was one of the best engines Chevrolet built) :D
(The 283 was a great engine too & it would wind forever !)

'66 malibu, bought it 20 years ago. Motor and trans not origional. Rebuilt the motor 2 years ago. 454-525HP bored .030 with 990 heads ported with 2.25" int. and 1.88 exh. SS valves, cam specs are .236/.246 duration @ .050 lift is .553int/.571exh. SS hooker competition headers with 3" flowmaster super 40 mufflers. 4.11:1 12 bolt posi rear end. Will smoke em as long as you want. I love taking it to the local cruise nights as well as out in the country for some rubber burning. But at 5mpg I can't do it too often.

I have a 327-325HP out of a '68 corvette #s matching in the garage.

NASCAR needs to impose a No Metal or Glass in Coolers and a No Alcohol Sold when one-quarter, or 100 miles, of the race remains, whichever is greater.

Talladega Track Bans 14 Fans for Life: Fourteen auto racing fans who were identified as throwing objects onto the Talladega Superspeedway track after Sunday's Aaron's 499 will never again be allowed to purchase a ticket at the track, speedway officials said Monday. The fans were arrested Sunday and charged with disorderly conduct, according to Talladega County Sheriff Jerry Studdard. All posted bond at jail facilities located at the speedway and were released, Studdard said. Disorderly conduct is a Class C misdemeanor punishable by a fine of not more than $500. Numerous fans peppered the track with beer cans following Jeff Gordon's win Sunday. That win allowed Gordon to surpass the late Dale Earnhardt in career wins on what would have been Earnhardt's 56th birthday. Talladega Speedway officials had warned all week that fans caught throwing objects over the fence that separates the grandstands from the track would be arrested. Track President Grant Lynch also made that announcement over the public address system before the race, and warnings were posted on track guides issued to fans before the race. Additional security was placed in the stands. Lynch said he knows that more fans than 14 threw objects, but pinpointing the culprits was more difficult than he imagined. He was in the stands at the race's conclusion but was unable to identify a single person throwing an object onto the track.(AlabamaLive.com)(5-2-2007)

It's mostly symbolic. With so many seats/tickets there's no way they can stop them from buying tickets or using a friends tickets.
A better deterent would be to force them to clean all the glass off the track with tiny brushes. Then run photos of them cleaning the track in the local newspaper.

I wish there were more that the authorities could do to these miscreants, but we are a nation of laws and not lynch mobs.

Obviously some of the people here have NOT been to a NASCAR race ! http://www.motorsportforum.com/forums/images/icons/rolleyes.gif
They do NOT allow glass to be brought into the racetrack ! http://www.motorsportforum.com/forums/images/icons/rolleyes.gif
ONLY cans or plastic bottles are permitted !
They stop you at the gate & inspect your coolers & bags BEFORE they allow you entry !
You MUST open your cooler & bags ! http://www.motorsportforum.com/forums/images/icons/tongue-anim.gif You MUST allow them to inspect their contents ! http://www.motorsportforum.com/forums/images/icons/tongue-anim.gif
(NOTE : backpacks and/or coolers also have size restrictions)

The possibility of glass getting on the racetrack is nearly impossible ! http://www.motorsportforum.com/forums/images/icons/tongue-anim.gif

WRONG!!! At lowes motor speedway (and all tracks, i assume) there are souvenier sparsely under the grandstands where i personally have bought shot glasses. (there are mugs, etc) if you wanted to throw glass, there is glass available to be thrown. Also i have bought mugs on souvenier alley before the race and brought them (in a shopping bag) through track security. Please also let me clarify that i would never EVER do anything to disrepsect the sport

I concur...I've bought shot glasses from the souvy trailers or on gypsy row and have brought them inside. But you wonder why somebody would spend $7 to $10 on something and then chuck it on the track…but of course when we are talking about Hillbilly Int’l Speedway, anything goes.

It seems only to be a bit symbolic, but maybe some momentum is gaining in dealing with these low-lifes.

UPDATE: If Talladega Superspeedway president Grant Lynch has his way, the 14 fans he banned from ever again having the opportunity to purchase a race ticket at his speedway won't ever have the opportunity to buy a NASCAR race ticket again. To any race. At any track. "I'm going to be notifying all my fellow track presidents across NASCAR of the people we've banned to see if they'll also [participate in the ban]," Lynch said. "They'll make their own decisions, but I expect great participation from the [International Speedway Corp.] tracks." Lynch said he will make personal calls to Richmond International Raceway president Doug Fritz, as well as Lowe's Motor Speedway president Humpy Wheeler, since races at their tracks are coming up on the schedule. Lynch also said he is looking into additional steps to ban those 14 individuals from Talladega track property completely. "Certainly you can refuse to sell tickets to basically anyone you want to," Lynch said. "The law I'm checking into [is] can we notify them they're no longer allowed on track property, and what legal means can we take if they choose to be." Lynch said a team of attorneys is exploring that option now.(ESPN.com)(5-2-2007)

until they post a picture of the guys, its never gonna work banning them, they will still get in through a 3rd party ticketsalesman.

plus Harvick and McMurray have been fined 25K and placed on probation until Oct. 2007

they need to put their faces on the Nextel Vision during the race, and ask each person to look to each side of them. if they can identify one of the people and alert security, they get a free t-shirt!

R. Mears
4th May 2007, 15:30
They just can't buy tickets. They can still easily get in with friends that have tickets. I agree with you guys plaster their names and faces all over the news and on race qualifications as well as race day too. But they might get sued for that so it'll probably never happen.

Mark in Oshawa
4th May 2007, 17:37
I think this "ban" on these 14 is a joke. They are banned from buying tickets, not going to the track. I would have a court order on their mugs not being allowed on the property, and a "most wanted" like photo of the 14 posted at all the gates. What is more, the cops should be laying assault with a deadly weapon charges. Get hit in the head with a can of beer and tell me it isn't a weapon? The fact the target is in a car is not the point. Those in the front rows catching cans that don't make it over the fence are still getting hurt. If the people running the track are not careful, this will be NOT a one time affair, but way they will end all races at Dega unless Jr. wins. That is until they ban beer, and THAT will be the end of the fun now wont it?

Stupid jerks, if ole number 3 was alive he would be pissed.....

Banning them means crap. They can still get in. NASCAR is doing this all wrong. Do like the IRL and have all your fans stay at home. And what is stupid is that those beers are 8 dollars each. That is alot of money to just throw at a car to protest the fact that your favorite driver sucks.

Give them away? We're talking about NASCAR Officially Licenced Boxing Gloves here. That's got to be worth $250 per mit.
