The main thing here is they have onboard cameras and they have the ability to show replays. And instead of showing the incident, they showed the wrong bit — twice.

I'm loving AllLive, the next step is to have a better system in place for showing replays from the onboard cameras during the stage.

Yeah it must have been early because he was 1m 51 down already at the first split and pretty consistent times after that. There must have been quite a few cars that passed Meeke in there. He was 6 m something down after all.

"Mikkelsen has no pace over Neuville" - Well, he's seconds away from Neuville.
"Neuville said he would be champ last year" - well, at least he tried to do it in stile. Wining title without domination is just half of it.

And all of that negativism against Hyundai drivers completely unprovoked. Wow, well done forum stars.

We are missing something here, Meeke said he nosed into the bank, got out and cleared the snow and the engine had no power afterwards. At the stop control it didnt look smashed at the front? Then Tanak seems to have hit him going past and gone off, caught him again and passed him cleanly. What has caused the retirement?

It's amazing how few people understand this!

They don't data dump all the video that they couldn't send when there wasn't any connection as soon as they have any. They send video real time only (because doing that would be impossible).

Strange. Sounded like a safemode issue. A clean of snow, and a reset should have fixed that. So something that has to,do with water is probably smashed.

I did say "I'm loving AllLive, the next step is to have a better system in place for showing replays from the onboard cameras during the stage." i.e. it's a work in progress, there's room for improvement, hope they can work out a way of showing replays. Looks like they were able to show the full Evans spin without that being live at the time.

Edit - I see you've edited you orignal post, smooth moves...

Are they not streaming multiple onboards to their mixing desk then and choosing what to broadcast?

If all cars run at same time at same place - they can stream all onboards. But cars started by 2min intervals and helicopter follow one car from the start to finish and then back "2min by the road" and follow next car.

They need 5-8 helicopters per stage to stream that you want. But it will not cost 9Euros per month

er88

Are they not streaming multiple onboards to their mixing desk then and choosing what to broadcast?

Or can they only get feed from one car at a time? They are yeah, there was pic tweeted of all the on boards streamed to them during Monte and they choose what to broadcast from there. They have Tanak's on-board working fine but I've noticed that all rally Meeke has had very little coverage in terms of his on-boards. Maybe an issue there? Not sure why they haven't got Tanak's onboard from earlier in the stage though

If Meeke pulled into him and shunted him off the road he'd get time back id hope. If Meeke is pulled over and Tanak hasn't slowed enough to get past safely there's no chance and it's Tanak's fault.

E: from the instagram video it seems like it is so tight and then the snowbank in the left throws Tänak into Meeke?

Yeah I'd say that too. From outside it looks like Tanak moves back right, but it's most likely the snowbank pushing him back. From his view it might have looked like Meeke moved, but that wasn't the case.

Btw. Meeke's off was quite innocent compared to 2x Evans and Lappi.

Jesus Tanak had some cheek saying "Meeke turned into me" LOL. Guess it was just frustration getting a bit too much for him.

End of the day, unfortunate for Tanak that cost him time and Meeke was unlucky to retire from that small off. Not the best of weekends for both, but Mexico should be better for them

What a dumbass move by Tanak. And his big mouth recently, he definitely lost his mind after moving in the new team.Nonsense. I was very annoyed by his complaints and conspiracies over the snow ploughing on Friday, but he did apologize for that later. The Meeke incident was 100% a misjudgment on his part, so he was very wrong to blame Meeke; however, keep in mind that in the heat of the moment details are lost, and we don't even know what he could recollect after the incident because no interviews said anything else afterwards. He might also feel like apologizing again but nobody asked him about it.

I might have suffered today when he began cracking Latvala but Tanak is a class act almost all the time.

On that picture, Meeke has his wheels turned back to road, just when Tänak tries to pass. But, looking at the incar, Meeke tries to pull to the side, the place is just too narrow and Ott is just too impatient. Just one of those things really

Great rally so far, unfortunately i couldn't watch all stages live but caught up now. Some good battles, too bad they're not showing more of WRC2 that was also very contested!

About the various comments and frustrations of drivers, I think Julian Porter mentioned this also, remember they are asking the drivers stuff seconds after they finish the stage, most likely nerves are still tense and adrenaline is high so they can sometimes say things in the heat of the moment and after they calm down a bit maybe they would have a bit different view. So maybe we should take those comments a bit more lightly.

It seems Neuville is confirming his speed from last year, with a good help from the road position. Tanak did a great job to bring the fight to Latvala, i guess his rushed passing of Meeke was also because he wanted to win that fight. Also decent run by Mikkelsen and Paddon. But for me man of the rally so far is Craig Breen. I hope i don't jinx him!

As for the cars in general the Hyundai seems a good fit for this rally, can't say much about Ford or Toyota because of the road but I did expect a bit more from Toyota, however the big surprise is Citroen, after what they showed last year on this rally this performance is night and day.

As a final impression i'm (pleasantly) surprised so many drivers are still on the road with no rally2 and no crashes or big offs!

Martin didn't fasten his seatbelts before Ott start moving. And he drive over 90kph without seatbelts.
As I remember Loeb get 2min penalty for this kind of situation at Sardegna 2008? 2009? when Elena jump into a car after tyre change and didn't fasten seatbelts before car starts to move.

re after stage comments: exactly - drivers are 'hot' and do say what is 'hot' in their mind. Do we want to hear 'polished' PR bullsh** like in F1? thanks god that some drivers speak what they feel at the moment - sometimes they wrong, sometimes funny and whatever - but those are real tense emotions, and I want them! and more than half a sentence :)

Meeke has the wheels a bit to the left almost all the time to avoid getting stuck in the ditch. He's not moving left.

Credits for Meeke trying to make room for him to overtake. It was actually the Yaris which moved to the right, quite possibly due to the snow bank push back, but anyway unfair to blame Meeke for anything.

Nope, he just went wide there and sucked into snowbank. Then engine lost power and has turbo warning, Kris thought that it was just snow on radiator stop and send Paul to check and clean that snow, but there was no snow. He think that snow could get into air intake and damaged turbo.

But that turbo sounds before his off - sound weird.

It's going to be a big fight between Lappi and Paddon for 4th place!

Yes, Lappi is on fire, but 3sec for 9 km is kind of hard.

Tarmop

Not that hard if you look back at this morning. Though Paddon won`t give up i think.

Impressive "sportsmanship" anyway. Though I like it, clever move. And I'd be not surprised if he didn't start at all and is sending message about the road cleaning that way.

Surely, that rule applies after a crew has received their start time at the stage TC and moved to the Start Control.

I was thinking the same but couldn't find other rule in the rush. Besides the unsportsmanlike behaviour.

Yes, and the stewards will give 10 seconds penalty for every minute he is late.

Everyone has been saying the rules are the rules so tough if you are first on the road ploughing snow. It is equally tough for opponents if the application of penalty you can afford to lose means you can pick the best spot on PS. As the man said ’where would we be if we didn’t have rules?’ (Answer - France!... or Slovenia it seems)

By the way - this is endorsement of Seb’s master stroke

This rule works only when you refuse to start and you are between time control and start line. He arrived later to TC before stage, so nothing to do with this rule.
