Interforum league 2017 [Archive]

Hi everyone,

the zdkf1 site (https://www.zdkf1.com/) has had an overhaul and, after skipping the opening race, is now ready for you to make your predictions for the season. If you haven't played before, it's really easy: sign up and start your nickname with "mf_" and predict the top 10, pole sitter and pole time for each race. If you're a returning player, you will need to reset your password (https://www.zdkf1.com/Forgot).

I believe ze Dutch Kiwi is planning a few more improvements to the website during the season, and the website is already a bit easier to use particularly for those on phones or tablets.

As always, slightly late predictions can be emailed to support@zdkf1.com and will be included at their discretion, but if you post them here too then I can at least include them towards the league. (I will be particularly kind with predictions for China as I am rather late posting this!)

I'll try and do a more fleshed out opening post after China, the only other thing to add for now is I think the risk bonus boundaries are still very safe ≤19, safe 20-22, moderate 23-25, risky 26-28, crazy 29+.

People take huge jumps and drops every week. So you are at 124 McCOD Surfer swiss has drooped to 140 I've rallied up to p24, 56 places ahead of any other American, and 3 spots ahead of pob (which is really important ;)). The second half of the season is going to be epic. Spa is going to be ungodly. :devil: :beer:

Hi all. I'm Dogued from F1Forum and I've been maintaining the Interforum standings for the season after Pob was unavailable for a while. I know a few members from other forums dropped in to grab the data for their own players, but I hadn't gotten around to joining up everywhere.. till now. Thought I better come share the news that Tazio won the "Interforum ZDKF1 Individual Points" title by 5 points over F1 Forum's Wb.

I wasn't sure how many categories Pob was doing before I took over, so I ended up with:
Interforum Championship (max 2 players in the Top 10 for each forum, point ties were sorted by pole time)
Interforum Individual Championship (Top 10 points gained over the season)
Interforum Qualifying Championship (2 points within 0.25%, 1 point within 1%. Point ties sorted by total time)
Individual ZDKF1 Points Championship (Total points gained for all active Interforum members)

Category results were:

FINAL RESULTS
Interforum League Champions - F1Forum.org (488)
Interforum League Runner Up - F1 World (315)

Interforum Individual Points Champion - Pob (F1 Technical) - 127 Points
Interforum Individual Points Runner Up - Tazio (Motorsport Forums) - 121 Points

Interforum Qualifying Champion - natny (F1Forum.org) - 17 points
Interforum Qualifying Runner Up - DDDD (ja606) & Pob (F1 Technical) - 16 points

Individual ZDKF1 Points Champion - Tazio (Motorsport Forums) - 740 Points
Individual ZDKF1 Points Runner Up - Wß (F1Forum.org) - 735 Points

Mr_Swiss and mfCOD scored well throughout the season, and as a group Motorsport Forums finished in 4th place (5 points behind F1 Technical in 3rd).

For 2018, I'm happy to keep going (and post each week to each forum) if the interest is there.

Correct, the players above you weren't part of the Interforum competition according to the player list I received at the start of the season (and from updates by trawling entries each race to look for forum tags).
In total over the course of the season, there were 43 players across 10 Forums registered.

Based off those entrants, the top 5 Interforum Players on Individual ZDKF1 points were:
Tazio - 740
Wb - 735 (F1Forum.org)
Pob - 727 (F1 Technical)
Alcig - 707 (v2)
Frank - 706 (F1 World)

The other Individual championship was based on Interforum Top 10 from each round. I didn't have the exact sheet from Pob to work that one out, so based on what was observable from the past seasons entries, the rules on that one were:
1) Highest ZDKF1 score from the entered players
2) Tied ZDKF1 scores then sorted by Pole time difference
3) No more than 2 players from each forum in the Top 10
4) Absent scores not included.

Tazio placed 2nd on 121 points (1 win in Italy)
COD placed 14th on 65 points
Mr_Swiss placed 21st on 39 points
Koz placed 35th on 1 point

The Qualifying Championship was another one were I didn't have specifics, so the rules were simply:
1) 2 points within .25%
2) 1 point within 1%
3) Total Time Difference to separate positions
4) Absent Time Included In Total

Tazio placed 4th on 15 points
COD Placed 14th on 11 points
Mr_Swiss placed 17th on 10 points

Hi everyone!

Testing is done, McLarens are already breaking down, and everyone is gearing up for the start of the 2018 Formula 1 season!

In lieu of any information on Pob and his return to run the Interforum Legaue, I have offered to continue where we left off last season. For those who weren't aware, I'm Dogued over at F1Forum and I picked up the league mid season last year. I carried on the fine work the Pob had begun, but I forgot one simple thing; to have an InterForum league, I needed to actually post the results around or interest wanes! But not this time 8)

I will use ZDKF1 (http://www.zdkf1.com) results after each round to gather data for the following categories:

Interforum League Championship
Each week, the Top 10 players will be assigned points per position. These points will add to their forum's total.
Caveats are:
* Only 2 players per forum in the Top 10
* Equal ZDKF1 points will be split by difference to Pole time. Further ties will be split by Spot On then Top 10. If players have identical results and are the first 2 represnting their forum, a tie for position will be given. If they are fighting for the 2nd representative place, the player who is higher in the ZDKF1 list will be given the place and points.
* Absent results do not count for position.
Defending Champions: F1Forum.org

Interforum Individual Championship
Using the points gained by the Top 10 each round, this will be the total points for the season. Ties on points will be seperated by Wins/Seconds/Thirds.
Defending Champion: Pob (F1 Technical)

Interforum Qualifying Championship
Individual Championship that uses pole times. This year the points will be: 2 points if your guess is within 0.25% and 1 point if within 1%. Additional 1 point for correct polesitter. As per ZDKF1, driver must actually start on pole on Sunday.
Rankings shall be based on total difference to pole time. Absent times WILL be counted in total time.
Defending Champion: Natny (F1Forum.org)

Interforum ZDKF1 Points Championship
Individual Championship that uses actual ZDKF1 points rather than positional points.
Defending Champion: Tazio (Motorsport Forums)

I've tried creating the thread a couple of times now and it isn't posting or it's not being approved for some reason. I had the same issue on F1tech (an over zealous mod kept rejecting it) before the admin made sure it finally got through. Perhaps my post is sitting waiting for approval somewhere? Have submitted again just incase a McLaren Gremlin escaped and ate it!

Either way, I did pop over today to resurect this thread at the very least, to let everyone know I'm still doing it for 2018 and picks need to be in by midnight Thursday this week!

Just a reminder, can you make sure your name has MF_ at the front so I don't miss anyone! I'll post the list of entries following round 1, if I have missed someone then it's easy to pop them in and adjust results.

We've gained a few more returning players, 2 of whom made it to the Top 10 for Motorsport Forums!

Just a reminder, I am unable to alter ZDKF1 results if you miss the deadline. I am also unable to recalculate your score if you send me a late entry list.
What I CAN do is the following: If you PM me on the forum BEFORE Q1 STARTS, I can use your previous race prediction (and remove the penalty on my records). Late Pole Guesses will NOT be accepted after FP1 begins as changing weather/huge gains in speed during FP sessions can give an advantage.
So I would suggest you take some time between China and Azerbaijan to put in dummy predictions for the season which you can edit before the race date.

Also, a side note: I'm based in Australia, so forgive any delays in posting... most races finish at 3am so I don't get to results for about 12hrs.

AND DON'T FORGET CHINA PREDICTIONS DUE THIS WEEK!!

Since serving up a race in 2016 that only rivaled Sochi for "Miss Boring 2016" title, Baku certainly delivered last year and followed it up with another great race this season.

Round 8 - French GP Results

Well, like a loose Force India tyre, that one flew by! Almost a perfect Grand Chelem for Hamilton, and one of the worst weekends Alonso has had in a while (and he's had a few!)

DO NOT FORGET THIS IS A TRIPPLE HEADER! Austria closes THIS Thursday, with the British GP the weekend after that. If you're not sure of your schedule, make sure you at least put in banker predictions so you don't miss out! I hate having to drop someone from the top 10 because they didn't put in a prediction!

***NOTE***
Every 4 races I do a full audit. This time I have picked up an error that seems to be from Azerbaijan. It appears that ZDKF1 have changed something post results which has meant 26 players gained 1 point, 13 stayed the same, and 1 player lost 2 points. I don't know what's changed, but have updated the scores to reflect the correct totals. This change means that the Top 10 for that round have a bit of a shuffle around in the lower half and leaves the Interforum Standings: F1 Forum & Sports Babble +2, The Fast Lane +1, F1 World -4, Motorsport Forums -1.

Well maybe I'm off to a decent start.

My predicted pole time was 85.85
The actual pole time was 85.892

But the closest prediction was .004 off the pole time. Even with a lot of people picking, 4 thousandths isn't too shabby. That leaves me as an outsider, only within a few players of the closest pole time. :s

But my predictions for the race results contain all the drivers that made it into Q3. If positions don't change a lot through the race I should be in for some decent points. Having now said that, there will probably be a first turn incident that takes out 5 of the Q3 cars. :laugh:

Like a certain Football game, the Red team did a great job.

Well crap. I didn't scroll the list as I thought anyone in the top 10 got mentioned.

So now my prediction is that if I finish in the top half of the forum here, it's a miracle! Tazio should remember how bad I was from when we had pickems on the forum. If I have to get into the overall top 10 to score interforum points, then the chances are pretty slim. But good on COD for bringing us some points from Silverstone.

Well, I got Seb for the pole, and Kimi for third. After that, it all pretty much went to crap!

I can't see bringing in any decent points, but then again the entire race was wonky, so maybe the high scores won't be all that high.

Even though me and Tazzy got into some points, Sports Babble outscored us and closed the gap to our "best of the rest" mid pack position. The more entries we have, the better the chance of one of us pulling in some real solid points and opening up the gap again.

Well it looks like Dogued is still wrapped up in his new job, and we were tied with Sports Babble for the interforum 5th place at the end of Brazil. So I did some digging into the results, and I think we got them in the end.

Lord_Snooty from Babble beat us all from what I can see with a 16th place overall and 49 points

....BUT....

It looks like me, Mr Swiss, and Taz beat the rest of the Sports Babble crew with fairly strong scores that quite possibly will overcome the one very strong score by Lord_Snooty.

We bagged (overall finish/points)

... all of which are capable of some points in most races.

I guess we will have to wait it out until it's sorted by non forum entries and such, and that one strong finish by Babble might keep them ahead of us. But either way we finished fairly strong. Next year I'll try to get my act together and at least predict 1/2 or more of the races :laugh:

Mr Swiss was the overall high scoring player for Motorsport Forums with 711 points, only beating Taz by 10. COD had a strong score as well. with 680 points. Me and OneManBand pulled up the rear, but his early high scores almost beat me even though he predicted less than half as many races. In short, I sucked but pulled in a few points while he was out!

I'm in, and hopefully this year I can score more points per race. Maybe if enough people from the forum jump onboard, we could make a spreadsheet and keep track of where everyone finishes. Even without an interforum list, we can see who dominates the picks.

As I predicted upthread, I opened up a major can of whoopass this race, thus humbling all the other forumers. :laugh: So I got lucky, and got 5 spot on finishers, while everyone else had less spot on finishers, but more within 1 or 2 positions.

And Mr Swiss is still in the overall lead. Though it's hard to believe, I was the only forum member to make up overall positions this race. It's much easier to move up when you totally suck in the first race!

I've found that the only bonus in losing a lot of positions it that sooner or later I get lucky and move back up some. So really at times there is an advantage to being on the bottom!

I hope everyone else got picks in for Monaco. I had a crazy busy week and missed the deadline.

I'm guessing a Merc 1-2, but Max and Gasly might get in the mix. I'm also hopeful that Leclerc can get a podium and beat Seb, but I really think Ferrari might end up more like 4th-5th this race.

The site uses some system to select for races you miss. I'm not sure how it works, but we should keep that in mind for the overall standings. I'd imagine if you get lucky, you could score good points on races you didn't make picks for. And looking at scores, yep.... it happens. The first person with no prediction was only one place behind Mr Swiss. If we all don't miss many races, I say we just subtract the points in the total at the end of the year. I don't want my amazing comeback to the top questioned due to *free* points. :laugh:

Scores wise, that's a tight race for all of us. My "risk factor" was slightly higher than Bagwan, so I finish ahead with equal points. Strange system sometimes!

But Bagwan ruled all of ZDK with his qualifying pick, and was only .028 off the actual pole time. Well done sir, and the first ZDK 1st ranking for pole or race this season.

I think this race could be some crazy mf'n stuff.

None of us had Leclerc for pole.

None of us put Max higher than 4th for the race.

None of us put Vettel lower than 5th.

And I'm fairly sure all of us had people in the top 10 that didn't make it into Q3.

It might be an all around strange points weekend for all the ZDK picks!

Well after a race that none of us apparently saw coming, our scores compared to the ZDK pack were not very strong. But we sucked fairly evenly as a team, and there was only an 8 point spread from the first to the last place finisher here at the forums. Tazzy takes another win, and by a single point this time. But that's one more point over second than I had in France, so as they say, a win is still a win!

What you guys don't know is I missed Monaco picks just to give you a fighting chance. If I ran away from the start, you might all quit making picks. :)

Actually if I made Monaco picks, I [i]might[/] be in the fight for last. But then again, the spread isn't too big, and I think there is still some shaking up that will take place through the season.

Well if we want to be up front, we are probably all a bit "non adjusted". But now two of us are identified as such. :laugh:]

After missing two this season, I just made picks for all the remaining races just so I can't get another DNF. Even if the field changes, at least I've got some picks in.

As for Hungary, it looks like Mr Swiss might have spanked us this race. But I'm far too lazy to dig into it much until the scores post. None of us had Max for the pole, and the lower positions on the top 10 were fairly varied for picks.

None of us picked Max for pole, so nobody got any points for that prediction. COD was ranked 6th with his prediction time, so at least one of us was close on something.

Going into the break, Mr Swiss stretched his overall lead over Tazio a little more. With two of us now having missed races, that might leave this a three horse race towards the season end. But the less thna 50 point spread can disappear quick with just a crazy race or two.

COD didn't even check in and dominated the race.

Mr Swiss said he was in, wished us luck, and came in second.

I am short on time, but Bagwan and me whopped you all at Spa! Mr Swiss spoke up and got spanked! :laugh:

McTazio and COD are scared to speak up, but they are going to get spanked as well!

Bagwan got a top 10 ZDK finish, and I was close behind. I think our lowest score was in the low 50's ZDK ranking, so overall as a forum we kicked some major butt. If I remember it right, we had one person hold season ranking at ZDK for overall season, and the rest of us moved up.

P.S. Bagwan, us non adjusted MF'ers are deep in their heads now. It's just a matter of time until we move up to the top. :laugh:

Mr Swiss extends his lead slightly, and me and the other non adjusted score are scrapping in hopes of catching COD.

Monza scores aren't up yet, but I think Taz might have punked us all. But I'm not sure really. I don't think our overall scores will be all that high though.

I forgot about Max's grid penalties for his engine and missed changing it by about an hour. Oh well.. :laugh:

I really thought Tazio was going to beat me on this one, but somehow my risk points helped me out and I ended up on top. I also got the right driver for pole and closest time, so I'm calling it a grand slam race at Italy. Since Bagwan finished last, he will probably dominate the next race, that seems to be his thing.

And as a side note, I never really looked that hard, but noticed this last race. Pole ranking is done on time only, which seems rather strange to me. So you can pick the wrong driver, get zero points, but be ranked for pole higher based on just that time guess.
