As for new stages, well, organizer's policy is to keep everything secret, until championship regulations force him to reveal details.

IIRC stages maps are to be published no later then a month before rally. As soon as they'll be published, I'm going to drive through the stages, make a carcam movie during the process, publish them on YT and share links with forum users.

Here is our carcam from Wieliczki stage - this year's route is exatcly the same.

EDIT:
Stare Juchy carcam, stage is the same as in 2016

Hey guys. I am from New Zealand and am coming to watch WRC Rally Poland 2017, I have never traveled to Europe before and it will also be my first time spectating at a round of the WRC. I will be travelling on foot so transport is a problem for me. Basically if anyone is attending the event and has room to include a tag along like me I would be much appreciative! Also any information about the event would be great like where is the best place to stay and where do you buy tickets? The website "www.topracingshop.com" does not appear to be working?

Thanks so much!

Support your event you miserable low life and buy a pass...

You have one of the best events in the calendar, you should support it. Plus i doubt its expensive.

Organizer have changed this year's route a little:

http://www.rajdpolski.pl/pliki/zawodnicy/2017/itinerary_comparison_orlen_74th_rally_poland_ver._ 4.2.pdf

so, Wieliczki SS (onboard was given before) is not the same as last year any more.

But I've found Goldap SS onboard (still the same):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lf1mdDPzdNs

and Świętajno SS onboard (still the same, just a little shorter, famous and probably longest jump in the rally 3:48):

ToKu, looking forward to your videos, that would make a great help to choose spectating points. rally-maps.com have some maps already online, not sure how correct.
Do you think it would be possible to try and watch 3 stages on friday? Like ss3/5/9.
2 years ago organizers offered to obtain physical ticket in exchange for pay order in Mikolajki. This year only mailorder tickets?
Ok, poland is not so far away, but postal services sometimes gives a surprise.

rally-maps.com have some maps already online, not sure how correct.ON rally-maps teh stages the route is well shown - Kruklanki they will have an end in Gawliki Wielkie

Do you think it would be possible to try and watch 3 stages on friday? Like ss3/5/9Friday special stages are virtually identical to last year - only Wieliczki will be like 2016 with a bit longer.

If you want to watch more special stages on Friday, think about Chmielwo and Stare Juchy - the special stages are titled next to each other - 40km
At Chmielewo I recommend jump at the beginning of special stages (about 1.5km from the start)
both jumps are about 500m apart
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61KjyFw3nyM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgyYLElajPU

At Stare Juchy I recommend a place about 1km before Szczecinowo
All of the movie sites are 1km away

Can I ask something about the tickets? I want to visit shakedown sss and service park without any extra payment, what's the right ticket? ThanksI do not know if the entrance to the service park will be paid this year.
When it comes to shakedown, it will be possible to purchase a one way ticket before the entrance
If you buy the cheapest fan package you will be able to enter all the special stages, the shakedown and the service park
http://www.rallymerchandise.eu/product-eng-11994-2017-Rally-Poland-WRC-Rally-Pass.html
Alternatively, if you intend to use car parks prepared by the organizer, I recommend buying a parking sticker

In the silver pass you have an additional Rally Program.
On Mikolajki SS I recommend buying a one-way ticket - you will then be able to choose the day you want to see this special stage, I recommend Friday - service park + SS Mikołajki

So some speculations...

If we look at the past years results, we see that Ogier, Neuville, Latvala and Mikkelsen have been in top 6 each year (Latvala has been fifth every year). Tänak and Paddon have also shown good results in the last two years and Tänak won WRC2 in 2014.

Tänak the obvious favourite for a win, even before Sardinia. Ogier is first on the road but shouldn't matter that much in this rally, he'll be fast here. Evans a bit of a question mark, will there be a DMack advantage?
Neuville will be fast, as will be Paddon, but Neuville will finish more probably without any incidents. Not probaly the best rally for Sordo.
Latvala has been consistently slower than his teammates in the past. Lappi has downspoken his pace in the media, but he might surprise us. Hänninen probably won't be as impressive as in Sardinia.
Mikkelsen has been fast here, but it's hard to say if he has made the car fit his style during the testing or not. All in all it's hard to expect anything from the whole Citroen team. Even Lefebvre made a stage win last year, but also crashed.
Østberg wasn't up on the pace last year, not expecting much from him. And Suninen's main objective is probably Rally Finland so he's just using Poland to adapt to the car and find the setup, so I hope he just stays on the road and gets race mileage.
WRC2 will be again too easy for Tidemand?

Looks like it's shaping up for another M-Sport vs Hyundai tustle.

mknight
19th June 2017, 11:42
The only type of stages where Hyundais have not been that impressive this year is on very fast open roads... exactly like in Poland.
Ford seems to work better, maybe also cause it suits Tanak and Ogier.
Toyota prbly gets help from the extensive aero.
Citroen did not have much handling issues on that kind of stages and Mikkelsen says it has very strong engine.

So I expect Hyundai to struggle a bit. Also Ogier will still loose some due to cleaning, little in km/s but on these roads the differences will be small whole rally. Furthermore I don't expect much from Evans.

Watson
19th June 2017, 13:18
I'll go along with what you guys said. I expect Tanak to win it, Ogier and Latvala on the podium and Neuville and Lappi behind them. All the others could align in any way possible, making ground on potential problems or slipups of the ones mentioned above.

How will be with access to stage from evening?

Photo from autoklub.pl/forum --- > https://www.fotosik.pl/zdjecie/cf98cbee3c961619 In there photo on road sign write stage will be closed evening before rally day 16:00.

But in official document RallyGuide 2, we have Road closing time table, there is different times

It's a trick from the organizer? Protect from too many spectators?

Mad Max

Rally stages and access roads are two different things

As it is not known what it is - it is always the same $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Polish organizers of their shortcomings and underdevelopment always dropped on the fans, roads are blocked due to their safety and insecurity from previous years. In addition, the organizer claims that spectators' viewing punts are designated at the most attractive venues - and as you well know it is not - because they are set only for easy access.
In addition, these blocks are designed to prevent fans from camping at rally stages which for many are an unmatched element of every rally.
Year after year, foreign fans are getting less and less frequent but this year's trend will be even more visible - anyway, just look at this forum and this topic to see that Rally Poland does not arouse some great interest among fans from other countries
The last thing is that it is increasingly said that Rally Poland will be the last time in the WRC so the organizers will get away from the fans as much money.

In every country in the world Rally WRC is a holiday for the fans, unfortunately in Poland is not - this rally is simply sad.

Unfortunately, the conversation has been going on for a few years now, and the unstable is not changing, the unstable is changing only for the worse
If anyone wants to read more what Polish fans think about this rally then I invite you to forum - In the themes of the previous edition of the rally only the same texts repeat

What the hell are you talking about. Half of Estonia will be in Poland from Thursday onwards. Your rally organizing is supreme if we count rally maps, access roads and "free" parking in fields. I have at least 11 stages in my schedule i can see easily and stage hopping is relatively easy. Tickets are cheap, hotels are really cheap. Food is cheap. Beer is cheap. Best place to have rally imo. Only polish spectators are one of the worst. You need SWAT teams to get them away from dangerous places and it's miracle if stage is not stopped because of spectators.

If the organizer has taken care of his duties in securing the episodes, he would not have problems with fans - somehow in other countries my compatriots have no problem

Cheap ?? Are we talking about the cost or organization of this rally??
Please also explain why most blockades can be overcome by buying a VIP rally pass which is four times more expensive than a normal rally pass?? I always thought that the VIP at the party is staying, not that you can buy it.

Can you give me the name of the second so locked up for rally fans in WRC ??

Free parking on the ground ?? 2km before the blockade, you will have a forbidden entry sign under the threat of towing the car.

This is maps of SS Paprotki which will be Power Stages - on 18,68km - For the fans there are 5 places to watch and one car - explain why I have blocked the roads which I marked in blue (there are wide roads where you can pass the trucks) - Do you think this is the highest level organization ??

My tickets cost me 300€ This is for one VIP and 3 silver tickets this includes VIP parking ticket. So divided to company of four people 75€ per face. This includes everything. In Findland i have to pay 55-110€ extra for parking in 11 stages and regular ticket is same price. So it looks cheap to me. And last year i had regular tickets in Rally Poland and walking wasn't that bad. Finland is way worse.
And those blue roads are emergency evacuation roads in Rally Guide 2 thats why they are blocked.

And last year i had regular tickets in Rally Poland and walking wasn't that bad. Finland is way worse. You just confirmed what I wrote earlier - not to walk this year you bought a more expensive VIP ticket (599pln - 4dni) to drive under special stages - what interesting in 2011 episodes were not so blocked and the possibility to drive under special stages was 50pln (in three days)

And those blue roads are emergency evacuation roads in Rally Guide 2 thats why they are blocked.Okay, two of these roads are actually emergency evacuation roads - just why can one of the VIP Pass fans in?? I also understand that if the number of VIP Pass fans decide to use this route, then also will not be a problem??

I will repeat only what the fans say in Poland - the problem is not money because 149 pln is a very good price, only that the episodes are blocked and inaccessible for fans

Everyone knows that this rally can be great, by just why from one year to another he comes to him fewer and fewer fans ??

Better to have a crash in Ypres than in Poland...

Yaris should be fast but the question is if Latvala has gotten over Poland 2009? Last three rallies here it doesn't seem like he has. For a rally that should suit him perfectly he really hasn't lived up to the expectations.

Never been a fan of Latvala, specially in the later VW years. Constant issues with confidence/setup/car and constant excuses by his fans (blaming the team for favoring Ogier)...++.

But have to say I am very impressed by him this year.
Within a month with him at the team the Toyota tarmac vids showed a massive improvement. Driving rallies he's both reasonably fast and keeping it on the road without issues when he cant charge for wins. (One crash in 7 rallies is totally normal)

That said since this is Rally Poland thread I don't see him as the main favorite for win, that's Tanak due to his last year performance, recent performance in Sardinia and road position. But Latvala is probably about equal favorite with Neuville to round up the top 3. Ogier will likely loose too much with road position.
Paddon is the joker here but those two off might dent his confidence.

Mikkelsen, Breen and Lappi are candidates for top 5 and some fast times here and there but don't expect sustained top 3 performance. Especially if it rains at some point.

Tarmop
25th June 2017, 10:30
Tänak will definitely be strong in this event, but maybe it`s too much to expect the same kind of performance this year. He admitted himself that last year he had some better aces (DMack+ road position in addition to his favourite kind of roads ) and wanted to take his first victory very badly and still all this meant taking big risks, hence the emotional finish. As he said it himself, podium would be nice in this tough competition...ofcourse me, other fans and probaly himself secretly want a win.

Really happy to go to Rajd Polski | Rally Poland! I really like this event. I have been quick here in the last three years, regardless of the category. Last year, I also had the pleasure of claiming my first proper stage win in the WRC, as the leaders were fighting for first place. I know how to drive on these roads and my confidence was boosted by the test sessions. The stages are quite similar to those in Finland, with narrower roads and looser surfaces. There are also long sections through the fields, which are very fast but with few landmarks. My goal is to make it to the finish and put an end to the poor run of results I've had recently. Thank you for your support!

so rallying week again.

At the moment, if i look at different forecasts then it seems we will definitely have some rain before or even during the rally.

I looked back past 3 year results and the names who have done well here and shown good speed are Ogier, Tänak, Paddon and Mikkelsen. If it doesnt rain then Tänak is the slight favourite for me and not because the sardinia win, he was the favourite even before that and he has a really good record here. And having followed his season closely then majority of his stage wins have been on fastest stages on rallies and he has gained a lot of time in the fastest sections.

If it rains then i think Ogier will be the favourite. Latvala surprisingly doesnt have a good record here, hasnt even reached the podium in past 3 years . Same could be said about Neuville, 3rd in 2014 is his best result.

Mikkelsen has been very good every year but we dont know if he has managed to get a good setup now. i expect him to fight for the podium here. Paddon has shown very good speed in past and his starting position is very good.

Lappi is the dark horse and may surprise big time again.

Fast rallies aren't more difficult. In Baltics generally you keep 120-180kph most of the time, in 5th-6th gear (with evo9 don't even bother shifting). In Ypres OTOH there are big retardations every few hundred meters, there's no rythm to get used to, constant stress.

About the spectacle - I hope they won't brake too much for the flatout jumps they were making last year.

Yes, weather will be tricky.
Tomorrow, Wednesday arrives strong rain, some places get more, some less.

Thursday, shakedown morning is rainy, but it gets better at around the start of the shakedown. temperature rises very quickly to bearly +30 degrees and very strong thunder is likely in the afternoon, weather clears up by evening.

It is likely that next two days (Friday, Saturday) are mostly dry on the stages, only some isolates showers on Friday afternoon.

Sunday is likely very wet in the morning with some moderate rain. Then it gets better and foggy rain during the Powerstage is the most loikely option.

To be honest, forecats for Poland will be on half-day-basis and long term prediction is not very reliable.

All M-Sport cars initially have a PX66 D?? for a license plate, but there's just some custom license plates for the M-Sport drivers, it's always WRT 1 for Seb and WRT 2 for Ott (and F10 WRT for Bertelli).

When you go to number plate WRT 2 and look at Rally Poland it has a question mark where the chassis number should be. I doubt they would downgrade Tanak to a test car after the win in Italy. I read somewhere in this forum that Ogier will get a new chassis in Germany. So the most likely thing in my mind is that they built a new one for Ott for this rally.

It is not necessary that number plate and chassis number must be always same...

For sure not, more in those special plates with some meaning ;) Ogier with two chassis in same plate till now

I'm aware of that. But the number plate (at least in this case) gives away the driver and I wanted to find out which chassis he will be using in Poland. That's why I took that toad.

I don't know whats wrong with them, but I think rally specifics cause spectator safety issues - stages are mainly in open fields, there is lack of natural obstacles - rocks, water, swamps and other which prevent spectators from being near road as close as possible or let them spectate from rocks near road, or from hill to see long distance of stage. Maybe there is another causes related with behavior, but landscape isn't very friendly to spectate also + very fast stages, and result is what it is..

Interestingly in Finland I see no real reasons for any kind of barriers, natural or artificial. But try to stay too close to the road and some of the locals will loudly remind you about this.
