Well done Dixie, also have to feel for JPM losing on a countback after leading all season, but I guess what goes round comes round - he won his first Indycar series title on a countback, still it is a real bugger of a way to lose, especially owing to the fact that it was a collision with his team mate that ultimately cost him. Also cudos to the rest of the Ganassi drivers for the support they gave to Scott in the race, having 3 tail gunners, two of them between Scott and Montoya at flag fall was a huge help.

Four titles for Dixie now puts him up with the all time greats of teh US open wheel fraternity. He joins Dario Franchitti on four, and is only behind AJ Foyt (6). Not trying to open an argument about who is/was best, just illustrating a point about where Dixie sits in the list of champions.

Sorry to disagree, but double points wsd known at season start, JPM lost because he couldn't finish higher than sixth, plus he benefitted from winning the other double point race half way through the season, so it has evened out

Honestly, this is not the first or the last time Will Power takes part in a wreck while being apparently blissfully unaware of what's going on around him. To take out your teammate like that in a championship deciding race would have caused a flamewar on an F1 forum for months. Just recall the 2014 Spa incident, there are still people who are adamant that "Rosberg cheated". However, in IndyCar it is "just another day"...

I wonder just how mad Roger Penske is right now. Granted, this is not just a Will Power failing, it's a Penske team failing. Will Power was way behind in points to really compete for the title, so the team must have made it clear to him that if Montoya is right behind, Power has no chance, and his goal is to help Montoya, and in particular he could be more aware whenever Montoya was driving behind him.

Agreed, and this is exactly what Dixie's team did for him, hell TK was happier than Scott with the result.

I think Dixie did a great job. Montoya's steam this season died off after Indy 500. Dixie has 3 wins against Montoya's 2 wins. The big issue for Montoya is not the double-points awarded at Sonoma but the fact that he hasn't impressed much since Indy 500. Yes, the double points were involved, but Dixie did an excellent job at Sonoma. He won the race and also led most of the laps, while Montoya was somewhere in the back. Moreover, people have already argued that if double-points haven't been awarded at either Indy 500 or Sonoma, then Dixon still would have won. Regardless, please people just drop the double-points "controversy". And, despite saying this, I was one of the people who really wanted Montoya to win. What's nice is that all in all Sonoma was an amazingly good race. The F1 crowd is dreaming of having a race like this right now.
