I went to the first round at Silverstone and then watched the race back later.

What a great race it was. Battles for the lead in all classes.

3 cars by 3 different manufacturers split by just 15 odd seconds after 6 hours.

Really looking forward to the season.

Anyone else been following or will follow this season?

Oh yes I will!!!!
Been to Silverstone, lucky to have such a great race again this year; full programm ELMS as well and of course the young wolves on F3.
I'll do Spa and Le Mans.

What was the crowd like at Silverstone?

It was the largest crowd I have ever seen at Silverstone outside F1.

Never been to the WEC at Silverstone before, so can't compare years, but it was pretty big.

Very good atmosphere too. Less tribal I think.

It's good to have big crowds at non-F1 events. Not because of a supposed threat to the status of F1, but it's good for motorsport overall.

Quite agree! Nothing will threaten the behemoth that is F1, but the other series good health is important. And at the moment, few series are as in rude health as the WEC?

While not scientific, its interesting that on the Autosport and Pistonheads forums, the WEC is getting lots of comments for each thread; only F1 and BTCC get more; and a lot more than WRC, WTCC, World RX combined.

If it's managed well. Don't get ahead of themselves. Don't bite off more than you can chew. Don't puff your chest out too hard. WEC could find itself as a good complementary series for F1/motorsport fans worldwide. Kind of like what CART/BTCC was in the 90s.
