It has been well publicised that vehicle manufacture is closing down in Australia. The Australian made Holden and Ford vehicles have been the 'bulk vehicle' of police in Australia/ New Zealand for many years.
Australia/ NZ are right steer vehicle countries.
What cars would you suggest Australian and NZ Police consider?
Holden are considering the European made Opel Insignia as a Commodore replacement.

I imagine that NSW Police will continue to implement their current program of replacing Falcons and Commdores with Toyota Camry Hybrids

As for performance and highway pursuit work, Volvo has been hinted at but I think that this is a puff piece.

Volvo could enter the race to replace Ford and Holden as the police car of choice in NSW.
The Swedish marque is rumoured to be pursuing contracts with the NSW government as Holden and Ford prepare to stop building cars preferred by police.

As for the suggestion that Holden "are considering" the European made Opel Insignia as a Commodore replacement, you might as well consider that as confirmed. There is no American/Chinese Buick replacement because the engineering costs to convert them to RHD and be ADR compliant are too great. The Insignia will be produced for Vauxhall; so they'll be built to ADR requirements.

Holden is yet to confirm the plans but well placed sources told News Corp Australia senior Holden executives have already driven the new generation car in Germany during the early phases of its development.
“We don’t discuss future model plans,” said Holden spokesman George Svigos. “(But) Holden is determined to bring to Australia the right products from across General Motors’ global portfolio.”
Holden is now debating whether or not the new sedan and wagon should be called “Commodore”, or adopt its European name “Insignia”.

You can blame Australia Treasurer Joe Hockey for killing the Australian car industry.

Is that in Ipswich?
I can't read and I can't write,
But that don't really matter,
'Cos I support the Ipswich Town,
And I can drive a tractor.

There currently are no V8s for sale in Australia. Hyundai haven't confirmed if they're bringing it to Oz.
I think it'd be ace as a V8 Supercar:

Rollo, do you have the Chrysler 300 series?
They have a V8.
Not sure if they would be good for Police vehicles though

The 6.4L Hemi V8 retails for A$$60,290 (US$47,294).
This was interesting:

HIGHWAY patrol officers could soon look like a modern version of Mad Max — roaming our roads in Ford Mustangs.
With Ford and Holden ending production of their high performance Falcons and Commodores over the next three years, police forces across Australia are grappling with what to use next to catch high-speed criminals.
The Ford Mustang is the only V8 so far confirmed for Ford or Holden showrooms once the homegrown sedans switch to four-cylinder power similar to a Toyota Camry by the end of 2017.

WA doesn't use V8s as a rule for the police force, so options are really wide open. I reckon Subaru could be a surprise, as there are a few unmarked ones knocking about.
