According to http://www.pitstoptv.be Francois Duval will not drive the Skoda Fabia WRC this year. The 4 Fabias First wanted to buy has been selled to Dutchman Eric Wevers. Maybe First can rent one from him?

In wonder why First would need 4 Fabia's in the first place?

Maybe they can buy a Ford Focus 04 WRC.

I think First only wanted one Fabia(and to rent, not to buy), but Skoda sold all the Fabias(including the one that was awaiting that First sponsor Pyramid pay the Kopecky/Skoda team) to dutch driver Erik Wevers :mark:

According to La Dernière Heure( http://www.dhnet.be )Erik Wevers would have threatened Skoda to put the affair on trial if he didn't receive the four Fabias he ordered

And now apparently it's First Motorsport who could threatened them... :s

No, First wanted four, according to the article ;)

First was van plan om de 4 (5?) Fabia’s WRC, die nog bij Skoda Motorsport stonden, met onderdelen aan te kopen.

Or

First intended to buy 4 (5?) Fabia’s WRC, which were still at Skoda Motorsport

What would the dutch fellow need with 4 fabias's? that is just greedy.

It's always a pitty when a fast driver like Dudu has no possibility to run anymore :(

He should be far more exciting to watch drive than a certain Wilslow anyway

By the way, on the last report about the affair, it's said that First-Motorsport is absolutely looking for another Fabia to buy, as they still have belgian Skoda importer as partner/sponsor... :s
If they wished to change of car/make they have better possibility to find a decent car...

There are couple of WRC Fabia's in http://www.rallycarsforsale.net. I don't know if they are latest spec or not. One is 2004 model, the other is 2003.

Only if he doesn't wanna finish. Profiko and this car together have finished only 2 races from 8 in Hungary, mainly because of mechanical probs...

Where is the Fabia that Duval used in 2006 from First? The car was rented to First by Skoda Motorsport?

User
18th April 2007, 18:20
Duval used two (or more) different Fabia's last year. One was even specially new build for him. Or they rented them, or they sold them back.
Wevers Motorsport said that Duval could rent a Fabia from them. I guess that's the only option (with a Fabia) for Duval.

RS
18th April 2007, 20:47
This is what I want to know, I thought First had at least 2 newish Fabias so why do they need 4 more?

Also Wever's cars are not new builds but clearly ex CRT or Red Bull cars.

Well, it's better to have some extra cars just in case Duval will burn some of them :D

Maybe, but the spanish market is the second most important to Citroen since many years. The first driver is speed, the seconde driver is marketing.

Spot on. Shame too actually. No offence to Sordo, which I think is a worthy Citroën works driver.

2005 was probably too early for Sordo, plus he was up in front in the S1600 championship with Citroën too. Also, let´s not forget the two guest appearances of Carlos that year.

As for Duval, he´s everything but consistent. That´s his main problem I think (let´s put away the ego this time...).

huh? Sordo is the best they can get. Spain market is not important for choose a driver. That would be silly.

Back to Duval: He is driving in rally Wallonia with a porsche. First Motorsport believes he drives a WRC rally. I think faith in God is more logic.

There is something I don't understand. Why is it so important for First Motorsport and Duval to run a Skoda Fabia?

First Motorsport used to run with Subaru's so if they have sponsorship money (not related to Skoda) why don't they just run a Subaru?

And honestly, the Fabia isn't exately the fastest WRC car out there.

First and Skoda belgium have the partnership , so it's not easy to run another car ..
by the way , do you think that Subaru's performance is much more better than Skoda's performance ?? I don't think you are right in this point ! ;)

Ok that I didn't know. But since Wevers Sport have bought all the Fabia's, then First needs to look at a different solution, and then I think an option with Subaru would be the best since First has knowledge of using an Impreza WRC.

Yes, I rate Subaru way above the Fabia. Actually the only car I rate below the Fabia is the....Octavia ;)

Good news for him !!! Dudu will drive a Porsche 997 GT3 at this week-end's Rallye de Wallonie(Belgium) !!! :p :
http://www.rallyedewallonie.be

Certainly not less fun/exciting than driving a Skoda on the WRC ;)

By the way, he also declared that he decided not to run Rally of Sardigna because he has enough to make a program that often is hampered by problems with budget at the last moment :mark:

That smells the end of WRC campaign program for him(like for Gigi galli)...

Asked about the current situation and if they could clarify what is going on, First Motorsport communication manager, Jean-Pierre Gilmart insisted that things aren't nearly as bleak as some have speculated.

“First Motorsport and Skoda Import (Belgium) are absolutely confident in the way the situation we are living in will be solved,” he explained.

“Together, we are still working on different solutions to build a private team and to participate in the World Rally Championship.

“We sincerely hope that Francois Duval and the whole team will be in Sardinia with the best conditions. We will do our best to, once again, shake up the leaders!”

So, Duval still on for Sardinia or what?

Quoted from Karbonyl in the Fabia thread (http://www.motorsportforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=116212)

"Last pieces of Škoda Fabia WRC were sold from Škoda Motorsport to abroad. Two cars stay in the Czech republic in Czech Rally Team - Kopecký. Four of cars should have been sold to First Motorsport, where they should have been driven by Francois Duval."

He says four should have been sold to First, but it could be three since he says should and it looks like they come from Skoda Motorsport.
Also noticed only three cars on their website somewhere.
