i'm more concerned with this coming weekend which is according to that site slightly warmer in the a.m, same(18) in the afternoon but the important thing is the wind speed is less.
i wonder how much it will change.

I looked yesterday at both the 7 and 14 days forecasts and they have changed considerably. As they often cant get it right for the next day it really is ambitious to look so far ahead.
I remember driving over from Rugby once and halfway along the A14 in pouring rain the weather came on and said the day was going to be dry with broken sunshine. It was one of the few times I saw the driers on track.

Weather for the 29th!
You've got just as much chance of getting it right by looking at some tea leaves! ;)

A great, sadly departed, friend of mine used to swear by the seaweed hanging outside of his back door.
If it was all floppy and shiny, it was or had been raining.
If it was dull and rigid, it was dry.
If it was white, it was freezing or snowing or both!
If he couldn't see it, it was b* foggy!
Much more accurate than the Met office he claimed!

Very funny - but not a "fore" cast, just a nowcast.

As I have mentioned previously on this forum I spent many years checking weather forecasts for the Rockingham area. Anything beyond three to five days ahead is virtually worthless in most parts of the UK and particularly so in Corby, which seems to have its own micro climate.
I have to tell you I have even tried to get accurate forecasts here in the Middle East for my race meetings and for most of our season here they still struggle and during the last two winters events have been disrupted by sudden winds, sandstorms and drizzle! Bit of a problem when the racers don't have wets, many have never raced in the damp and the circuit drainage is not exactly built to UK standards. And to think I moved to the desert to avoid wet races....! Thankfully final national event is next weekend and the weather hopefully is a little more predicable now...hot and sunny, hot and sunny, very hot and sunny, sunny and hot etc!
I wish you the same weather back there in Corby guys - positive thinking is the answer! (oh and some proper jet driers and a sweeper!).
Keep safe and enjoy!

And the current forecast according to Metcheck is...
SCORCHIO!!!!!!
20deg Saturday
22deg Sunday
Bright sunshine both days
Fantastic, and (not weather related, but equally good) Al Hyde has just said on TTT he'll be at Rockingham on Sunday for the commentary.

Does that mean Richard won't be commentating.?
Are-jay-enn are you lurking? ;)
It would be great to have both of them together! Also does this imply that we have reached the big time to get a "name" commentator on board?

I put my faith in Metcheck. Usually the most accurate in my experience

I have never found weather.com accurate at any time. I reckon they use a random weather generator program for their forecasts.
The BBC's can be "interesting" too. Look at the 5 day forecast and sometimes it shows sunshine for the next day, then look at the 24hr forecast and it shows p-ing down with rain all day & cloudy!
All I can say is - we'll see when we get there!

:) :)
And to follow on from my comments - look at Today's forecast (Weds) which shows "Predominant forecast is for light showers". Click on the 24hr forecast and it shows light rain for 7am, then sunny intervals all day - no showers - eh?
Pass the seaweed.

I like to go on past experience. When ever I have left my house on a race day and it is raining or looks like rain, by the time I have arrived at Rockingham it is dry. To be honest I can only think of one occasion where the SCSA cars could not run (only one race cancelled).
UK.weather.com says Partly Cloudy and 68 degrees and forcast no showers until Tuesday. Fingers crossed.

Yeah, I can't remember what the running order is off the top oif my head, but I'm sure they'll bring the stock cars forward to early afternoon, and rick letting the pickups run in the wet if the weather turns.
Dave17
27th April 2007, 19:22
ASCAR's 15.55 - Pickups 15.10, if "rick" lets them!
May see the ASCAR's after lunch at 13.55. which could move their first race to 11.00 to give more time inbetween(just guessing though)

They did alter the program. I can remember a race starting so early that some folk had'nt even arrived!
SteveA
29th April 2007, 11:18
I think it only happened once. The spectators that were there congratulated Rockingham, those that chose to arrive late complained bitterly, even though it was pretty obvious that if Rockingham had stuck to the timetable there wouldn't have been a race anyway!
