So its Round 10 of the 2014 season and so far we have only one non Mercedes win. Here in Germany I dare say Mercedes will want a mass show of strength and a dominant 1-2 with Rosberg winning ideally for the German fans.
The 2014 race will be back at Hockenheim and its a circuit that in the midfield at least generally produces fun racing, as a lot of corner section go one way and then the other.

Cant wait to find out Dawgs.:dog:

steveaki13
16th July 2014, 00:09
Vettel has won at the Nurburgring once.
These are stats for Hockenheim only.
It used to be easy when Hockenheim was German GP & Nurburgring was European, but the last 6 seasons or so they have alternated. I wasn't sure whether to post both results or just this circuit.

Think Lewis has momentum again. Poor Nico going to get Hammer Time.
Never know why Hulk not loved by big teams. He always put car in top spot. Would Ferrari wonder feck why they hire Kimi when best number 2 Hulk or possible challenge Alonso bit heavy?
Bottas be strong. Real deal and in for top drive 2015.
Good monster track so Merc power strong and not too much excellent chassis of Red Bull do to challenge unless reliability 'upgrade' produce much power for French engine.
Easy track that not too far Monza to drive. Go, brake, go, brake, hairpin etc. Power so Ferrari 2nd best engine.

Williams is a top drive this year, not sure how much better he can expect to get. Bottas has been good but Massa has been very unfortunate this year. For me the jury is out on how good he is.
Again Mercedes should win this one easily unless one or both cars break down. Williams should be best of the rest if they qualify well and stay out of trouble.

It will be interesting to see what impact the loss of the FRIC system will have on the teams.

It will be interesting to see what impact the loss of the FRIC system will have on the teams.
Some speculate it might have been worth a few tenths per lap. So I don't think we will see any real performance differences from our viewpoint.
But it's safe to say it's going to be FRICing hard to beat the Mercedes cars. :)
Tazio
17th July 2014, 17:00
I suspect that the major impact of not being able to useFRIC will be tire wear, and even that will be subtle, I guess we'll see. Itlooks like Sunday could be wet, one can always hope!

Doc Austin
17th July 2014, 20:09
Whatever happens with the FRIC systems, you can bet the big teams will figure it out first, so I do not expect a real upset in form. The Mercedes are not going to spin out of control and fall the tail of the grid and the Caterhams are not going to dominate the front row.
I suspect the FRICS will disappear and we will hardly be able to tell the difference.
For some strange reason, I think Nico might still have the mental edge on Lewis. If I had to bet on it, I'de take Nico for pole.

i dont think if there is any other mistake for lewis to do.. i will Bet on Lewis Hamilton on pole and Win. he is not going to let Nico Overhaul him on the pole setting experties he has. its "hammer time" from qualifying..

Mercedes lately are becoming a bit unreliable.

What would be cool is for both Mercedes to start on the back row and see who wins a fight to the front.

Hamilton brake a worry. He use aggressive brake and release where other pilot use less aggressive. Hockenhiem high brake wear but not worse pista. Canada more so and problem there also.
Remove FRIC change stability in car so air flow change. Maybe not 100% effective air flow cool from brake duct part problem but I no not. Possible? Change FRIC in centre of season affect many thing no just suspension stability as car and aero / cooling design around attitude of vehicle from ground up.

So its confirmed now Lewis will start 20th.
Lets play a game. Where will Lewis get too? I mean its easy to say 2nd, but Williams looked fast yesterday and might make a podium tough.
So How high will Lewis finish and how long will it take him to get there?
I reckon 3rd in the last few laps.

Ericsson has a 10 second stop and go penalty to be served within 3 laps of the start for breaking Parc Ferme conditions.

Neither was it last year. But back then it was still fashionable to ignore the midfield battles because it was the wrong car diasappearing into the distance. In terms of sheer domination of one team this season is even worse than 1992.
steveaki13

The racing has been decent this season, except for up front. Mercedes are just too fast.
Anyway. Bottas doing a decent job and some nice battling behind

Neither year has been great, because of domination in both. Neither will be remembered fondly.
The lead has to be close, whether its one guy pummelling his team mate like last year and winning 10 in a row or whatever, or whether its a team winning by 30 seconds each race.
Both suck. Don't act like last year didn't and this year does. They both do.
However like last season, there is a bit of decent racing behind, which we did and can enjoy.

As you said, both years were less than optimal. I just wonder why the some people who now enthuse about the midfield battles, which we had last year, too (Korea, Nürburgring etc). But when I said 'great battle from 2nd onwards' last year, I was usually rebuffed quite badly because there was no battle for the lead.

I say as I did.
Both were dull, but Webber didnt make a Championship battle with Seb last season after half way, which makes it slightly more dull than this season, whereas at least we look like having a battle to the end for the title. That is a small crumb of comfort.
Anyway you could be the bigger guy and stop trying to point score on others by slagging them off and the racing in 2014.
If you enjoyed 2013 midfield battles and others didnt surely you are enjoying this seasons, midfield battles?
If you really hate their attitude then dont show the same attitude now. ;)

I think Nico has the Championship in his grasp. He appears as fast now as Lewis and seems more consistant. Also has less failures of car, whether trough looking after the car better or just luck.
It all indicates he should win the Championship as he is more complete than Lewis.
Interesting to see what happens.

The bump into Button was an indication that Lewis lacks that last bit of conservative driving that wins championships. He was quick, but prone to errors. I think Nico has a real chance, but there's still that 50pts race in the desert that will decide everything and pretty much nullify the whole season if they stay as close together in the standings.

Overall a good race. I'm usually not that big a fan of the track, but from the first corner on, something was going on the whole race that was worth watching.
Felipe punted himself IMO, he dove for the apex as if Mag wasn't even there. I can't take any more of his excuses either, in his mind it is ALWAYS someone else at fault. He needs to man up and get his head back in the game. Williams deserves more from him.
Ricciardo has just proven to the world that he is the real deal. He took everything Fred had to throw at him, and it still took Alonso 6 laps to get by him with fresh softer tires. But even then Daniel kept fighting, and I think with a couple more laps wear on the Ferrari's tires, the real fight would have been back on again! Outstanding wheel to wheel racing from both drivers.
Watching Daniel and Lewis charge from the back was interesting the whole time, and plenty of mid field action through much of the race.
Part of me wants to be glad that the lack of safety cars didn't bunch the field up and make things more even, but that part of me can't even come close to the severe lack of real safety being ignored. The GPDA needs to speak up and let Charlie and all other involved parties know it won't be tolerated. There should have been two more safety car periods IMO, even though I hate when they have to bring out the safety car.

I agree. I’ve always felt that he comes across as a bit tactless.

Is this race worth watching? I usually find Hockenheim boring (well,,except for that one Felipe-Fernando incident).

Without a doubt worth watching. I usually find the track boring as well, but this time the events on track more than made up for it IMO.
