Anything can happen but I feel that Argentina will experience the reality check.

Regarding Brazil vs Germany, I think they are both bad and lucky.

Regarding Brazil vs Germany, I think they are both bad and lucky. But none of the teams at this WC is really impressive. More than that the teams play only for result and show no joy to play.

Maybe there's a really good chance for Belgium to clinch this world cup :dozey:

Unless Argentina wake up :snore:

Or diver wins it :dozey:

Really disappointinhg night (the first of this cup). Not just of the results (Colombia losing and being poor) but also due to the quality (or lack) of football. Yes I know we often get dull, defensive displays in knock-out rounds but there also is a spark in many games..a moment of magic (AdP v Germany 06 etc, Baggio v All '94) or heated games/tackles/cards and mostly a lot of passion. The only passion I saw on the pitch was at the end with players crying. :dozey:

I hope tonight is better and Argentina play to their potential (1-0 is fine but I worry abt the defence again) and someone from the Ticos puts the diver in his place (not in the pool !)

I seriously can't wait for Belgium/Argentina. With the timeslots over here, I have to accept missing at least one of the games. But not tonight! The Netherlands has always been my favourite "overseas" team, and I'm definitely on the BBC (Belgian Bandwagon Crew). It's 11:40pm atm. If a shoot-out was to occur for the Netherlands/Costa Rica game, it'd start round about 8:30am!

About todays matches; I'm the only member that picked Netherlands in the poll before the tourney started, but I hate Robin for getting away with that dive against Mexico, who us Gringos aren't supposed to do any thing more dignifying then resent those third world wage depressors!  But I was pulling for Mexico. Me hopes Netherlands lose but I'm afraid not. Go Costa Rica (I'll compose another famous song about Costa Rica If they win) I want Argentina now just in case Brazil gets lucky against Germany. Go Belgium anyway, but I really haven't figured out if they're any good! I guess we'll see :dog:

In an era that makes a better claim than most upon the familiar term transitional, Andrew Marvell is surely the single most compelling embodiment of the change that came over English society and letters in the course of the seventeenth century. Author of a varied array of exquisite lyrics that blend Cavalier grace with Metaphysical wit and complexity, Marvell turned, first, into a panegyrist for the Lord Protector and his regime and then into an increasingly bitter satirist and polemicist, attacking the royal court and the established church in both prose and verse. It is as if the most delicate and elusive of butterflies somehow metamorphosed into a caterpillar.

Argentina? I haven't seen them in a semi-final since I was a school-boy and Maradona was crying after the final.

But yeah, would have liked to see Colombia or CRC to get to the semis atleast..Netherlands again hyped by the tv commentary were bad (the whole team was in Torres fan club according to odykas :p: RvP especially!) CRC just did not attack enough or keep the ball when they got it. Navas excellent whole game but not when it mattered in the end. :(

Argentina should be worried about the diving and the referees being blind.

Hey guys, haven't you noticed? This WC belongs to the goalkeepers. If you look at our comments here we hardly praise other players than them.....

Argentina should be worried about the diving and the referees being blind.
As much as I love this team, I'll never see it as a victim of fake fouls or blind referees. During the wc history Argentina was a champion of fakes and delayings in its favour ( like most of its latin colleagues) and what shall I say about the referees? Its 2 titles were gained with the large participation of them.

What? :D

I'm sorry but still I cannot realise how great Van Gaal is.
The fact is that:
- Netherlands dominated the game but didn't have someby to finish
- Netherlands played with one striker until 106' despite Costa Rica could not play any positive football
- Van Persie wasted every chance he could

So, Van Gaal decided to replace the keeper and win on pelanties instead of using the substitutions earlier, bring in strikers and win the match in regular time.

Pathetic.

Netherlands vs Mexico
- Van Gaal replaces Van Persie with Huntelaar

Netherlands vs Costa Rica
- Van Persie wastes evey possible chance
- Van Gaal does not replace him
- Van Gaal plays with one striker until 106' despite they dominate the game and miss a zillion chances
- Van Gaal is a genius for winning on pelanties

ody you forgot the underlying theme of the sudden van Gaal/Netherlands love-fest

van Gaal is now heading to Man Utd so he has to be the greatest thing since.....and hence the club will win everything in sight. As if LvG never managed or won anything till now :\\

Its Brazil because they are Brazil and the Dutch cause of Netherlands and Van Gaal.

I don't hate Man U, but ever since he was announced. The British media have been pumping him up as tactical genius. Which he may be, but not just because he switches Goalkeepers after failing to beat an average Costa Rica.

Storm
7th July 2014, 10:58
You don't need to be a MU hater, just a sane and rational person to see the amount of "hype" LvG is suddenly getting...I do not follow all UK media outlets but judging by how the BBC website gets its panties in a twist over anything MU related , it is obvious. The goal-keeping switch could so easily have backfired had CRC had enough guts to score and not let Krul get into their heads. LvG has always been a decent coach (having won league titles everywhere) but he hasn't suddenly become the tactical genius as steve pointed out...If he is, he already was one before he decided to join MU and the media picked it up.
