OK IMPORTANT NEWS

The original board Pickem page is now back and available for use... BUT the retrospective upload of the first 3 rounds would be a real 'female dog'. So WRC Pickem 2014 will continue in its current form (with continued thanks to makinen_fan and KiwiWRCfan) and the original Pickem page will be used for the 2014 WRC2 championship.

A photo of the 2014 winner prize is at:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/74mex/13443835323/

It's a 25cm x 20 cm lab print of Ogier taken just after his Friday accident in Deutschland 2013. Signed at WRGB by Seb and Julien

Photos of photos don't do the subject justice, the original is at:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/74mex/10319109736/in/set-72157636409018553

Interesting that while at VW Julien has dropped the symbol (chevrons while at Citroen) and car number from his autograph, I'd like to see VW1 appear this year :) as I have the 12 and 2 in my collection from 2009 / 11 respectively.
In case anyone is interested I'm starting my annual ebay sale of signed WRC pics - first items on line this evening.

A reminder that we are continuing with the 2014 competition in the same format as for the first 3 rounds but you can also predict WRC2 by clicking on the panel at the top of the right hand column

Still 16.5 hrs to go before the deadline, I expect the usual suspects that wait for the micky mouse result will post this evening. Can't see anything but a VW 1-2 again - unless they haven't tested their outboard motors sufficiently ;)

I guess MMcC suffered from the recce issues as it was his first event outside the British Isles. He was chasing Aksa and Al Ketbi for 10th and was 15 secs up out of the 35ish he needed at the last split he recorded on SS14. Still managed some top 10 stage times but he can do much better -watch this space ;)

Sorry guys for the delay to process but it was a busy work for me. Find the latest results here:

Congrats to papar007 for winning this one and to tolis taking the overall lead.

Just a small point guys, please refrain from using punctuation symbols in drivers' names, it makes it harder to process the results. Use the name exactly as given by Mintexmemory and use only numbers and space (no dots, parenthesis etc.) e.g.
1 Driver1 2 Driver2 3 Driver3 ..... 8 Driver8

When I go Ogier Latvala wins and vice versa. When I think Mikko is now a busted flush he comes third so when I think he'll do well he catches fire. Whichever Citroen I chose to finish highest is the one that hits trouble. THIS IS NOT FUNNY!!!

Mintexmemory

Interesting - all the initial entries for Poland have JML to win (me included). However, I'm not so sure first on the road will be as much of a handicap here as in Argentina and Sardinia, for the sake of continuing interest in the Championship we can hope so.

No one other than pettersolberg_29 is affected but Bouffier replaces Kangur in the list of available picks
Feel free to edit if you think the Monte podium driver can take a R5 into the top 8 in Poland !

To avoid similar issues as in Poland with cut off time, may I suggest to set the cut off time just before SS1 for the rest of the rallies

Ok entries coming in floods for this round, if you haven't entered before and think it isn't worth it for less than half a season why not approach it as testing for a full campaign next year.
Ignore analysis of testing etc, look at the past 3 years results (Germany, France, Spain) and how the Monte went this year for driver tarmac capability. Then check how the drivers have done in the lower levels. Finally what power does each car have. Almost impossible to make a case for Hirvonen and Evans to make top 8 except for major mechanical failures / crashes elsewhere (they do seem to have become the tortoises to everyone else's hares). Kubica, if he stays out of the scenery, will do better than the M-Sport guys. If Hyundai are going to do well on any rally this year it has to be this one, unusually I'd say the team leader will struggle to beat the other members (as a repeat of last year with DS ). Meeke loves tarmac, Ostberg is indifferent. So looking at VW Ogier just has the edge on JML (who hasn't ever won a tarmac WRC round) BUT Finland has shown the JML psyche appears to be in the right frame now which will put a big pressure on Seb O (he appears to be the driver who is currently best able to handle it, even if he doesn't hide the fact he doesn't like it). MIkkelsen will do well to get top 6. Just my opinion but I doubt we will see a Hirvonen, Ostberg, Kubica podium ;)

OK shakedown results in - Kris showing he's currently in a purple patch. Europeans, you've only got today to get your pick concluded, mid-evening GMT cut off time.
Interesting that there are a number of different picks for winner but the basic selection criterium is if you have picked Hirvonen, Mikkelsen or Ostberg to win then Meeke, Latvala and Ogier must not be higher than 5th as they will all be on Super Rally for one of the above to win ;)
Hoping personally that this is the rally that finally blows the Championship wide open for the last 3 rounds. I shan't be following in detail as I'm undertaking my annual Goodwood Revival pilgrimage, just a catch up over breakfast each day.

Henkie H 307
pettersolberg 306
arko5 305

harris is almost certainly the winner with the 9 points lead, while for the rest of places it is pretty much open.

Tonight I'll be posting a flickr thread for Harris to chose his framable sized, signed photo. After he's had his pick I'll be putting the others plus some smaller items on e-bay to defray the cost of the recovery charge I had to pay when I had a double puncture on my way to Dyfnant last Saturday morning - I managed to see the WRC run of Dyfnant 1 and that was the end of my WRGB. Didn't get recovered until 5 pm by which time the tyre shop was shut, so I had to sleep overnight outside Kwikfit in Oswestry. They didn't open until 10am so Alwen and Brenig couldn't be reached in time. It's a good job I'm well-adjusted and fatalistic or I might have been REALLY pissed-off ;)
