I'm afraid rally won't be as cheap as people expect... (accommodation, restaurants, etc). Prices are going very high each time before the rally. You already should look for accommodation in Mikolajki or north-east from there as the rally will be held mostly in that area (stages around Gizycko, Suwalki, some in Lithuania, remote service zone in Druskininkai - Lithuania). If you plan to come by plane every airport in Warsaw will be ok (Okecie or Modlin), Gdansk is not bad also, but little bit further.
If you need any more info feel free to PM me.

Just read that and it seems that there is not possible to use regular fuel. Only FIA fuel...

Is anyone idea how it has been previous years? Is there gas stations during rally route that it is even possible to use regular fuel?
We are planning to compete there and just do some calculations about it. We don't need FIA fuel so regular fuel save's a lot for us if it's possible...

How about setting up your own tent alongside the stages?
I have never used accommodation facilities in summer rallies such as national events in my own country Latvia or rally Finland. I guess the weather is approximately the same in the rally region. For those who visited the rally back in 2009, how difficult it was to find a campground for your overnight stay?

br21
2nd March 2014, 14:35
Usually there was no problem to set your tent somewhere in the field/forest next to the stage.

Juha_Koo

Does anyone have information concerning these stages, have they been driven before in some competition?

SS4/9 Wieliczki
Lithuanian stages
Saturday's stages

Any idea what is going to be used as a Shakedown stage?

br21
2nd March 2014, 17:17
Wieliczki seems to be new stage.
Lithuanian stages maybe were run as part of Druskininkai rally, but I'm not sure, need to check.
Saturday:
- Chmielewo should be similar to "Grabowka" from 2009 - very nice stage!
- Stare Juchy - stage might be similar to "Gawliki" from 2009
- Babki and Goldap - both new stages, Goldap they say should have huge jump.

Shakedown not sure yet. In few past years it was run on super special track, but everybody was very unhappy, so they are looking for different stage.

pantealex
6th March 2014, 21:01
They will take only 70 entries and it is part of every sub category
so
70
-12 DMack-fiesta
-12 or more JWRC
-3 WRC3 maybe
=43
-10 to 15 WRC2
-13 to 18 WRC
=10 to 20 places left for privateers

Is it enough ?
or will there be more drivers who will make entry?

PLuto

Are the organisers obliged to take any entry registered for a FIA championship? If so nominated round WRC2 and 3entries plus all WRC must be allowed in. I think you are right Mr P there should still be enough places for all who wish to enter

Hey locals, any info on the shakedown yet?

Havent heard about it yet. Talking about tent, I live ca. 100km from Mikolajki (Olsztyn) and also have a summer house like 50+ from rally, but me and my friends choose tent and sleeping near stages. Why? Well, main reason is that we would have to drive through Mikolajki to get to stages, which for me is worst thing. There will be HUGE traffic jams, so my advice is that u should avoid that area as much as u can ( I know that its rally base but just don't drive thereof u can). And of course we want to fell that rally spirit as much is we can :)

Hi guys!

I'm planning to go to Rally Poland this summer. I'm from Estonia. I already booked a nice hostel/hotel in Oszkinie.

So I have some questions about the rally.

Should I buy the rallypass from the internet? rally's homepage is kinda confusing...Does anyone know if I order the pass from the internet, they will send all the materials from here(estonia). I'd really like to get the maps of the stages to plan the trip already not at the last minute.

Rally Pass Plus – 4 days 200 PLN
Entitles to:

Enter all the official Viewing Points on Special Stages of Lotos 71st Rally Poland – during all 4 days of the rally
Enter the Super Special Stage Mikolajki Arena – standing zone by the track – during all 4 days of the rally
Enter the Shakedown on Thursday 26.06.2014
Enter the Service Park – during all 4 days of the rally
Enter the parking area located near all the Viewing Points, as well as the Mikolajki Arena* – during all 4 days of the rally
Receive an Official Rally Programme with the maps of Special Stages in Points of Sale and entrances to Special Stages on the basis of a voucher
Receive a Fan ID Badge along with an official souvenir lanyard of Lotos 71st Rally Poland

Thanks for your help guys!

I got info from the Rally Poland Facebook that when you buy online the ticket, you'll get a voucher you need to print out and take with you to the rally ticket sales point where you'll get your ordered kit. Everybody complained on Facebook that 2009 there were really long queues for getting tickets...
So not very good solution but no other options. I have been on Rally Finland more than 20 times as this is close to Estonia and this summer we will go to Rally Poland for a first time. We'll see afterwards was this a good idea or not.

Could anybody please clarify some queastion regarding tickets. Because from the official site is not clear what is the best choice price/quality.

I am going to visit rally with family. So, we are 2 adults and boy 8 years old.
As far as I understand for boy we don't need ticket. Correct?

We are going by car.

What tickets do we need to get to Super Special Stage and have parking for 4 days.
Do we need to buy at least 2 tickets Rally Pass Plus – 4 days 200 PLN
Or it is enough to have one ticket for 200 and one for 150?

Or ticket for 150 doesn't allow to enter SSS at all and we need 2 tickets for 200?

Are there separete tickets for SSS?

To get to Super Special Stage you need to buy 200zl Rally Passes Plus, there are no separate tickets for this venue. Also those passes include parking stickers for all car parks except VIP areas.

Sindroms, there is no way, that EVERY gravel path (sometimes its hard to call them roads) will be closed. Some of them yes, but not every single one. You can give them a try, but my advice is that u should do some research. And not only with map, but also with Google maps cause to be honest, some of those roads are undrivable. Of course best way is to drive stages earlier and find some roads, but ofc not everybody can do this.

Thursday stages and shake will be very cold and wet. temperature +10..+14.

Friday Lithuanina stages might escape from Thursday rain and there might be clouy morning with light rain and dry afternoon. temperature +13..+18 Polish stage most probably is not going to escape that rain and morning stage shoul be wet, evening dry.

Saturday morning will be very cold, maybe +6..+7 degrees during the sunrise. Temperature during the day will be +15..+20. Should be dry

Sunday: Should be mostly dry but cloudy. Risk of rain gradually increases but no major rain is currently visible. Temperature is the highest +18..+21, wind turns to south.

Must have been Koziucko in his last rally with the Mini last year?
Anyway quit a surprising choice...

Any forumers among the Czech fans today on Milki stage with silver Ford Transit and some Ford minivan? :) Greetings from the Volvo behind...

Recced few Polish stages today, at times VERY fast sections! Stages at some points had some water damage and soft spots, but generally quite okay condition. Smaller roads are soft (which is no surprise). Waiting for a fast and interesting rally! :)

If I am not mistaken then they go in random order
And about Henning.. I think it was an interesting choiche bearing in mind that these tyres were good in soft and muddy surface.
And regaring the weather.. it looks like it will be dry until at around 11 AM. After that there is a high risk of heavy rain..but if you are lucky then the rain will go more to the east.. to the stages in the east.

Longest lithuanian stage shortened because of rain damage and also too many very long straight sections - teams were complaining about that. In genereal lithuanian stages will be very demanding for cars as they are quite narrow, soft and rough. So they are completely different to the polish stage also run on Friday which looks to be smoothest stage. So finding proper setup for whole loop might be problematic. Today scrutineereing, without any special moments. Tomorrow shakedown from early morning. First WRC and priority drivers, then all rest.

I was spectating the shakedown there, really great crest-corner combination with high speed! Paddon had really wide and attack-ious line, but nearly everyone had great slide angle over that crest, most impressive ones among Paddon were Ogier, JML, Neuville, Henning and Holowczyc. To my eye Citroens were really calm, as were Fiestas too. Hyundais seemed to have some tendency to oversteer but nothing big, could be down to driving style too.

Next up for me after coffee break is SS2 Kruklanki, I've chosen an interesting long left over crest with a very high-speed entry and blank backdrop with no visual cues, lets see who has the best notes. :)

PS. To my ear DS3 R5 sounds awesome!

Yes, initial forecast failed completely. Currently it looks like there will be no significant rain until Saturay evening (I do not have longer reliable prediction). There is very high rain risk on Lithuanian stages today in the evening and tonight but I hope it will not be too bad. Sky looks really black in some places.

That they are late is almost meaningless (compare it to a light from dead star), the fact that they are too often missing splits is more important in my view.

on the main page click on results, then on the flag of the rally that is in the green border, you can then see a grey bar appearing with results, split times ects.

its easier to click at main page ''live'' and then ''splits''.

That way you get the stupid banner on the top. You can get rid of that by opening splits -link to a new tab / window but still.

For me it's just annoying to hear driver at the stage end and on the splits page he still doesn't have time on the penultimate split, not to mention anything about the stage time.

If the splits are that much late, then missing splits aren't that big of an issue. If they'd be on time, then it's another story, in my opinion.

Thanks to both. Both ways aren't really easy to find for somebody who hasn't done it ten times before. I was asking specifically if there is some easy and first sight visible way and sadly I can see there isn't. For em this is another issue with wrc.com. It looks nice but some important stuff like this is quite well hidden...

To hear the end of the stage driver interviews, you gotta tune in for WRR and that I quit a long time ago.

Karl Kruuda is first through but it seems that yesterday's pop-off valve problems have not been solved. "It's a nice wake up call but we didn't manage to fix the problem. We only did some changes in the mapping and there is some misfiring in the engine," he said.

"More than two wheels outside its limits". I think is not against cutting, but more so against when cutting turns into short cutting. Last year in Rally Finland, SS Painaa 1, one of the last corners (left) had a grass area on the inside of the corner and few top drivers drove over it, cutting the corner. For the second run of the stage (Ppowerstage) a stewards' communication was issued that prohibited such action.

In regards to cutting: In contrast to racing, rallying takes place on public and private roads. The destruction of the roads, and the surroundings, can lead to the owners of the roads, the farm fields etc, refusing to lend out the roads to our sport. Tires with to much friction, and cutting is two "probems" in this matter.
In Sweden they are already developing a gravel tire that is to cause less wear on the roads.

True. Here in my country organizers have to place a lot of anti-cutting obstacles purely because without them there would be no permission to run those stages. On the other hand we used to have here some crazy cuts like 10 meters far from the road...

FRI 12:45 - SS6: LATVALA CONCEDES VICTORY
Jari-Matti drops more than 4sec to his team-mate. "It's not the best feeling. I don't have a fighting spirit for the victory any more. Now we have to see what we can do and see what the highest position is that we can achieve. We have to have a target of the top five," he said. Interesting thoughts from the Finn, who is now 29.4sec behind Ogier
