would be interesting to see what the final line up of drivers is. The list on the website includes Jimmie Johnson and Jenson Button - both currently out of action due to injury.
Not sure why Button is in a race of champions - Lewis Hamilton should replace him.

Jimmie Johnson won't be there. He recently broke his wrist in a golf cart incident.

Scott Speed to take Jimmie Johnsons place.

Why Scott Speed? I'm not doubting his talents, but there are other American drivers who've actually won championships, let only races this season.
Sam Hornish Jr (IRL)
Andy Lally & Marc Bunting (Rolex GT)
Lawson Aschenbach (Speed World Challenge GT)
There's also leading Americans in their respective classes:
Butch Leitzinger (3rd in ALMS LMP1)
Clint Field (2nd in ALMS LMP2)
Patrick Long (3rd in ALMS GT2)
Randy Pobst (2nd in Speed World Challenge Touring Car)
Scott Pruett (2nd in Rolex DP)

It's the old dilemma of whether it's better to be a small fish in a big pond or a big fish in a small pond.

James Thompson to replace Button - at least he is a Champion!
So is Button. Uk Formula Ford Champion. But that's not important. The Race of Champions rarely features a field full of Champions. It's just a catchy name.

The atmostphere in the stadium for the event is great - except when a French person loses in which case the crowd go mad! Shame I'm not going over for it this year.

The spanish team is surprising, I don't know how Roma will feature in this type of event, very twisty, short and on tarmac.

Loeb will win if he gets into the finals, especially because they'll porbably be using the Xsara WRC for the final

Simple. He lost last year. No reason to loose again.

The Race Of Champions is just a name. It's never been a requirement for any driver to be a world champion or recent champion back when it was strictly a rally only affair.

Pastrana was amazing........ :)
That was pure old-school American racer . . .
Hop into a Big Car Wednesday night in Lakeland (FL) (the old Indy-type roadsters of the past) and race against both short track and saloon stars, then hop on a plane and then have to double-duty (oh does that remind us of Buschwhackers) against two.
It reminds me of the swagger of the Mob in 1 vs 100, but this was clearly something Pastrana showed to the world of motorsport.
It doesn't hurt to have poor Jimmie Johnson, down to one good hand because of a stupid injury, morphing into Chad Knaus for the races either, taking his five years of working with Knaus, his crew chief, and using every skill from his pit box boss to play Chad Knaus for Travis.
Somehow, I almost thought of the Unser and Andretti era where drivers hopped into a car on Wednesday night, flew on Thursday, arrived in Europe on Friday, and raced on Saturday.

Pastrana was great in the nations cup part, did a great job of double driving, and was so magnanimous after beating Coulthard and McRae, seems like a proper nice guy.
surprised Loeb was beaten, but then i thought Kovy would make the final too.
hope wembley is sorted for next year, think i may have to check out the event next year.
i think the race would have been more exciting in the dry so they could have got more speed up, as it was the wet added to the drama
