View Full Version : I am ignored by half the forum members

It has been mentioned that I am being ignored by half the forum members. This is from a poster that stated they were away for a month. Why that was significant is beyond my intellectual capacity to discern the reasons why individuals do what they do and announce it for all and sundry to see.
A little like me writing this.

At any rate, I have never ignored anyone as I feel no matter how idiotic , rude, ignorant, shameless, bigoted , racist, inflammatory or any other reason it is always of interest to me to read what everyone has to say.

As Bill O'Reilly says, "what say you"?

I am the same. Despite no liking what some have said to me and others, I have yet to put anyone on my ignore list.

A bit like pornography censors, us mods can't close our eyes. We have to read an awful lot of testicular loquation in the course of discharging our alloted role. Worse, we can't forcefully put the halfwitted tendency firmly in their place as we must maintain a certain distance from emotional involvement. So even when we're being even-handed adjudicators of over-heated debate, I'd just like you to know -you can't stop us thinking!!

If people are genuinely deciding to ignore your posts, I think you should look at what you are saying and the way you are saying it. You could also consider objectively looking at the way you respond to posts that state a view you don't agree with.

You could also try not calling people 'memebers' (sic.) I'm sure it means something unspeakable in the berber tongue!

Who is Bill O'Reilly? :erm:

He was a bowler who was contemporary with Don Bradman. There is a stand named after him at the Sydney Cricket Ground. I think that he may have been the leading Australian wicket taker in the 1932-33 Bodyline series but don't quote me on that.

An obviously higher calling than the Bill O'Reilly who was being referred to. By far.

Oh Spa, why the thread? :)

I'm not ignoring you, but there are I do and I just don't mention it unless they are intent on constantly trying to get my attention. I really wouldn't care if somebody chose to ignore my input. I don't generally say offensive things, but its up to the individual. The best thing to do is not to care mate. Don't worry about it. Just make your points and let the responders decide. After all, we can't force people to read what we write can we? :)

'A meme (/?mi?m/; meem)[1] is "an idea, behavior, or style that spreads from person to person within a culture."[2] A meme acts as a unit for carrying cultural ideas, symbols, or practices that can be transmitted from one mind to another through writing, speech, gestures, rituals, or other imitable phenomena. Supporters of the concept regard memes as cultural analogues to genes in that they self-replicate, mutate, and respond to selective pressures.[3]' - Wiki definition
Hence a Memeber would be a vehicle for such cultural promulgation. I know what you meant.......

Wow! getting a little personal there my friend. Remember, the adage, sticks and stones, well you are about to send this thread on a downward spiral. Let me be perfectly clear. You are the one that has caused it if it does go in that direction.

It was aid of one former world champion that he was "a well-balanced individual as he had a chp on each shoulder". Could that metaphor be applied to certain forum members posting on this thread?

(For the non-native English speakers, having a "chip on your shoulder" means going around deliberately looking for a fight or an argument.)

Spafranco
5th December 2013, 19:01
I wonder if some of said members that go around spouting about people looking for a fight fail to see that they are carrying a log on their shoulder and either choose to ignore it or try to bait.
It just seems to be that once a target has been established it acts on primeval instinct and will whine and moan about that 'nasty person' even when the 'nasty person' is just having fun as most posters are.
Time for they TYPES to take a few steps back and observe their own contribution. :)
