So here it comes the last race of a mediocre season, but Brazil is often a fun race.

So what can we expect for Brazil. Any thoughts?

Oh yer

a Vettel win. :D

Apart from Vettel's car contracting mechanised syphilis... I guess on-off rain would spice up the prospects for an entertaining race.

No win for Mark, RBR want Seb to get 13 wins in a season that so he beats Schumi to the most wins in one season.

I've changed my mind about watching the race as I feel I want to see Webber's final race in F1. Vettel will undoubtedly walk it and the team will intensify the imaginary hardship it took to win the race, but hey. We have 5 months off then and with any luck we'll have a more exciting 2014. They say we have a dull season every 10 years and this has been just that.

In 2004 there were 18 races in the season, now 19. So actually Schumacher would be the "winner" in this comparison.

Revealing words from Fred about the particulars of this type of race: Sometimes he reminds me of Prost.

Fernando Alonso: "It’s always hard to get much running when it rains here, as the level of water on track is never consistent and can affect lap times by two to three seconds. Each time you go off the racing line you then have to try and understand the track conditions at that precise moment, because there are no absolute values. But given that the forecast for the weekend is similar to today’s, we can say that, even if it was short, it was a good practice. Qualifying and the race will be very complicated from the strategy point of view and, on that front this evening we will have to come up with a good plan. To do well here, you also need a bit of luck, because in conditions like this, being in the right place at the right time is always a help."

Tazio
23rd November 2013, 04:17
This evening we will try and evaluate our performance as well as possible compared to the opposition and will prepare to get everything out of the car both in qualifying and the race." :erm:

Zako85,

For me locally the coverage will be on CNBC rather than MSNBC. It's rather crazy, the coverage can be on any of the NBC networks. I've taken a cue from some here and search for some of the Spanish language channels as well sometimes as the coverage and camera angles aren't always the same. Hope you catch it in time for qually.

As for the race, not the best track for a season ending race IMO. Though the track has character, it lacks in natural (non DRS) passing opportunities.

I'm not expecting Vettel to back off for Mark, so Seb should take the win. It would be great to see Mark make the podium, but once again with this track sometimes it can be a roll of the dice. Overall I think as usual the better drivers will rise to the top, but if it's wet some of them will end up off track before the end.

It's better to have qualifying or a race delayed, because of pouring rain, rather than a driver become seriousy injured by crashing.

Brazil has history of creating havoc when it rains very heavily. The 1993 race had no loss the spectacle of cars spinning dangerously on the straight, during a downpour.

F1 has had many wet starts in the last 20 years, and yet more and more we have SC starts. Its rubbish. These drivers should be good enough to start in the wet.

I know people will claim safety, but I don't buy it that there is more chance of injury in a wet start compared to 10 years ago.

Yes, can't argue with that! But after lap 5 or so, you knew that most positions are going to stay pretty much the same until it started raining. Let's see whether it rains or not because it is the only thing that could shake up the race, although it's looking rather likely.

That was clearly Hamilton's fault, and that's what happens if you move under braking. It doesn't matter whether Bottas was lapped or not - Lewis should have been cleverer but still chose to drive into Valtteri. That was a totally senseless move.

steveaki13
24th November 2013, 17:11
Stupid penalty.

Bottas was at fault 60% for being a lap down and overtaking a leader without care
Hamilton was at fault 40% for moving to the middle of the track and move back in the braking zone.

All in all just move on and call it a racing incident.

No, he moved over and hit Bottas, penalty is well deserved. If Hamilton doesn't understand why he got that penalty then he needs to retire and leave the racing to someone who understands the rules.

It is true that Bottas should have been cleverer but still, that doesn't make any difference. In the end, Hamilton drove into a car that was overtaking him. That was an utterly dumb move and one that deserves a penalty. Whether it was a car unlapping himself or fighting for position, there is absolutely no reason for driving into someone.

Exactly! The BBC commentators were saying it was Bottas' fault because he had room, where in the rules does it say you have to yield as long as there's room? Bottas wasn't moving from his line, Hamilton moved onto Bottas' line and the rest is history

Even if he deserved the penalty I think Lewis didn't see him so It was not on purpose.

Oh that makes it OK then I guess :) Sorry you're dead mate, didn't see you!

Yep. Sounds fair to me.

I thought I had glipmsed Jack Roush (??? in formula one?) in his customary hat with the RBR team yesterday, and decided to inquire

I'm so glad this season is over; it was one of the most boring seasons I have had to endure for many years.

Thank goodness they sorted the tyres out so that Red Bull could win every race.....

Have to agree sadly.

Of my 20 odd seasons of watching F1, it will be one of my least enjoyable for more than one reason.

Anyone in particular?

I just read in JA's blog that McLaren has become the only team so far to have both cars classified in every Grand Prix in a season. That's quite a nice record even though it came in such a lacklustre season as this one.

Now that Vettel got 8 consecutive wins, I was actually watching the race with a trepidation wondering if Vettel can win 9th and set a new record. I think today's race showed that even Vettel can't take these wins for granted. The mishap in Red Bull pits was bizarre and I was wondering about engine reliability to the last lap.

With real rain never coming, it really changed up some strategies. I thought for sure they would at least have to go to intermediates at some point.

Great drive by Seb as usual, with Mark making it to the podium for his final race.

Lewis and Felipe played donkey, though in all fairness I don't see why one particular portion of the track has lines and limits enforced, while other areas don't. There was one corner where Alonso, Perez, Gutierrez and others were going four wheels off on a regular basis.

McLaren must have done something right for a change to have both Button and Perez recover from bad starting positions. Too bad it took them all year to get something right. And I think they are morons for letting go of Checo so quickly.

Ferrari had a good day as well, and even with Felipe's mistake the car setup was obviously better than usual.

And Lucy, welcome to the forums. I didn't see Jack Roush in the pits... but it could have been him.

I think they (McLaren) are morons for letting go of Checo so quickly.

They think that highly of Magnussen, I suppose.

I thought Perez ran well enough and challenged Button enough to have earned another year, so I don't know what else the McLaren hierarchy could have been thinking. At least McLaren is trying to help Perez land another drive, and my guess is they might feel like they owe him since he really did have a decent season.

Well he out qualified Button by 10 vs 9 this season! He deserved another year at least.

Brazil is always a good race to watch and especially with the end of season feel usually associated. This time it was an anti-climax with Vettel barely a lap in P2. The rest of the racing was good but then that has always been the case this year. We want racing up top!!!

Nice bit of farewell for Massa with the mechanics' guard of honour and then Webber with his helmet off.

I just want to see another flag/anthem being played on the podium next year.

As always, the Brazilian GP proved to be a great race :). There is just something about this track that always delivers drama and/or a great race :)

It flatters them a little bit I think, I'm sure there were a couple of occasions when a McLaren retired but was classified in the results as it was after 90% race distance.
