"[New rules] will be the chance for Ferrari and Mercedes to catch up with Vettel. Next year, it might not be the best driver but the best car that wins the title."

It might do, on the other hand Red Bull might come up with the best car again.

Um, isn't it the best team that wins...?

Just more Bernie speak aimed at stirring the pot. I love the way the media usually swallows these statements hook line and sinker.

Of course there is a new formula next year, we have known this for 2 years, of course other teams might do a better job than Red Bull (over the past few seasons RBR have basically developed a good car concept each year), and of course the best car usually provides the champion, just look at how many times the Driver's champion drives a car made by the constructors champion. Since 1990 only 3 drivers champions have not driven for the constructors winner.

So everything in Bernie's statement is already known and understood.

He used to always be trying to get someone to beat Schumi, then he stated Vettel was great by getting all pal-ie. I wonder if he has gone off him now that he is winning all the time and in his view driving the viewers away from their screens?

As I always said in the Schumi Years, don't change the rules to slow the Kaiser down, force the other teams to try harder!

I think most of you guys didn't catch the part that made me start this thread. Bernie implies that up to know the best driver was winning the title, but he is "worried" that the next year the best car wins, which is hilarious. I don't deny Vettel is an excellent driver who is on his way to beat Schumacher's records, but Vettel's car advantage was pretty big in 2011, the second half of 2012 and 2013.

Indeed. Every single time.

I have to say I have started to like Ecclestone's comments to media. It is his humour, always likes to bait people.

I guess that depends on the context you use it in (i.e idiot, or (politely) lady part) :)

Nothing new then Bernie. Maybe if he didn't leave every race soon after the start, he might see what we are seeing lol. :)
