Here's a novel idea...

Each day post the weather of the location where you live so we can get an idea of what the weather is like for all of us each day :)

I'll kick it off:

Durban, South Africa
29 degrees Celsius @ 15:50
Clear skies
Light breeze
A perfect winters day for us :D

Northern Södermanland, time is 16.26, it's around 20 degrees Celsius, currently cloudy,
had some quite intense rain showers about 2 hours ago but they have moved on.

Today marks a change from several weeks of warm and sunny weather to more colder and rainy weather.

At 0922 it's 21.7 degrees (just under 70F)
Overcast, occasional rain (though I biked in without getting caught)
Wind from the WSW at 17km/h

Today and tomorrow will be warm, but temperatures will go back down by Thursday. It's been very nice for the last week or so, for summer.

If I remember summers in Durban correctly, the killer is the humidity. There's a parameter, called I think "humitherm", which combines temperature and humidity to give one number - a bit like "chill factor2 which combines low temperature and wind speed.

We have the same problem here. The so called index of thermic comfort that measure temp-humidity-wind is so high that meteorological services don't tell us. All we hear is that the index is over the critical point of 80 units.

Terrible weather here. Yesterday it was the coldest October 1st in our history ( well, at least since they do measurements ). Only 6C ( due to heavy winds it was felt like it was 1C ) and endless cold rains ( 90litres/sq.m ) for days.
Destroyed 2 umbrellas and a pair of shoes, not to mention that I had to stay with wet clothes all the day. Couldn’t sleep well because of cold...
Don’t know how I’ll survive this winter as I still couldn’t solve the problem with the heating system.

The weather have been quite nice the past week or so. Mostly sunny with the temperature being around 0 degrees.

The past two days it have been slightly warmer.

Today the sun is shining and the temperature currently is around +6-7-8 degrees Celsius,
which is warmer then normal for November.

We've had very cool weather the last month :) Third year in a row that we are well under our normal temperature range for this time of year. We've been averaging about 24 - 26 degrees for November which is fantastic considering we normally used to get up to 29 - 30 degrees. We've also had solid rain over the last 2 months which has been fantastic :)

Today is cloudy with no breeze whatsoever and 22 degrees, I'm chilling here :D

It's been between 0 & 5 C here lately. Not bad for this time of the year, although our daylight hours are quickly fading. The sun doesn't shine until close to 9:00am and it's pitch dark before 5:00pm :s

Yesterday we had the first snow of the season in my hometown. Associated with strong winds.
Not only winter has come too early but the decrease of grades was dramatically felt.. It's not easy to pass from 15C to 0 C overnight.
Wish I were a Carpathian bear that hibernates during winter and wakes up in the warm spring......

So how is the spring coming on?

As usual up here the weather/winter/spring thing is a bit like a roller coaster high "ups" and deep downs.

After several weeks of warm (>+10C) days we had a setback earlier this week with subzero temperatures and snow
but it has melted now since the temp is start climb back towards +8-10C during day time.

I have some cousins in New Brunswick and on Facebook they have been posting similar things. As well as pictures from their home and the snow piling up.

Hope you get some spring soon Schmenke, Bagwan and co.

Here in the east of England today we have had high levels of pollution today, drifting from the south and east.
Its been very warm (20 degrees) over the last week or so, and we have a dust cloud of Sahara dust over us too, so the cars are all filthy.

Better than snow though.

Quite typical April weather the past week, both sunny and rainy days.

The difference between the warmest and coldest temperature in Sweden the past weeks is 43 degrees difference.
The warmest temperature measured the past week is 18 degrees C and the coldest is -25 degrees C.

The weather is a little chilly today here , and that's a big relief .

We had a deep winter , and the last few days were in the high teens , with rain thrown in , just to add to the pain .

I spent yesterday in chest waders , wandering around my basement in water just under 3 feet deep , trying desperately to save treasures like family photo albums , now spread around my home on every flat surface .

Of course , the basement was set well for the level of the last flood , about 6 years ago now , but this one is more than a foot higher , so much of the bottom shelves and contents are now floating or sinking , making moving around in the swirl of precious detritus a little treacherous , to say the least .

It's a little heart breaking , finding little reminders of yours and your family's lives floating by , ruined , but I guess mother nature decided it was time to purge ourselves of a few things .

We saved lots of stuff .
I just hope we can see the river recede before too long , so I can maybe save more .

Floods suck . They really do .

We have our first real autumnal day. There is a strong warmish North-Westerly bringing in plenty of rain. It is expected to swing to the South this afternoon, effectively bring the rain that has just passed overhead back for another go.

Quite facinating that a city that is "much" further south then where I live (42N versus 58N) still is having winter while over here
the spring has really swept in all over the country. Lots if migrating birds have already returned from their winter quarters and etc.

I thought I'd give you all an update on our flooding here , since you asked .

The water is going down , about a foot and a half so far .
It's still over rubber boot height , and I've had enough time in waders , so I'm waiting for a little more drop before gong into the basement to see the carnage again .

Tomorrow morning begins the task of washing river silt .

Around here the worst doesn't typically arrive until ~June :s

Thanks , man .

Kinda dreading going down there .

It's not like a normal basement because it's an old mill , with water flowing beneath it all the time , just not normally through it .

Bagwan

The water's gone now .
I was kinda hoping we'd catch a few bass in the flood , but no luck .

In the last flood , in '08 , we caught a muskrat . Poor little guy was scratching at the window trying to get out , until we showed him the hole in the floor to get out .

Gonna order some wood for some shelving to hang from the ceiling in the space , well above even this year's high water mark .
And , I am getting ready for a few dump runs .

Amazing

How rare is snow in your parts in September? I mean you obviously have bad winters (compared to us UK softy's) but I assume its rare to see snow this early.

schmenke
12th September 2014, 19:40
A few flakes in late September wouldn’t be uncommon, but over 15cm in mid-month is rare.

The problem with this much snow is that the leaves are still on the trees, which when combined with the weight of the wet snow, cause branches to break, and even trees to topple. Despite much of the snow now melted, the streets are littered with branches and broken trees, and some neighbourhoods are still without electricity due to downed power lines.

7 deg. C here today but it's supposed to warm up to 20C by next week :mark:
