I know a few of us have paid our condolences in the Le Man thread, but as the GT section is not viewed by many I thought this deserved a thread, so people could hear the very sad news.

Allan Simonsen has been killed after hitting the barriers hard in his Aston Martin on only Lap 2.

Echo what's been said on the LM thread, always sad when we lose someone from this sport.

R.I.P. Allan
It does seem like when death rears its ugly head in motorsports, it does so in numbers. Within the past ten days, we have lost at least three renowed drivers: Jason Leffler in sprint cars last week, Simonsen at Le Mans and Wolf Silvester at the Nürburgring today.

Also Jeff Bower at Lime Rock on Friday, a SCCA Formula V driver.

RIP

Allan Simonsen was a fantastic driver who raced around the world, raced regularly in Australia and Europe. I seem to remember he finished on the Bathurst 1000 podium a few years ago.
