Being St George's Day, it's not only the Bard's birth and death day, the day when the new England football kit comes out but the anniversary of the One Pound coin which replaced the One Pound note, 30 years ago today.

30 years ago today, beer tokens replaced beer vouchers.

And Happy Anniversary to all the forumers whose name is George/Georgina or their derivates.

I'm too young to remember the One Pound note as it was fazed out the year after I was born. I think I would prefer a note come to mention it, like the Americans do with the dollar.

Happy St Georges Day fellow Englanders :)

Didn't that nearly ruin Adam Ant's career? ;)

Nah he was slightly 'eccentric' before he got into rolling notes into little tubes - anyway he used fivers. One pound notes (called an 'isaac' in slang because Newton was on the final version) were for riff raff!
