Kovalainen rejoins Caterham | F1 News | Apr 2013 | Crash.Net (http://www.crash.net/f1/news/189962/1/kovalainen_rejoins_caterham.html)
Interesting news. I suspect that Caterham realized quickly that they need an experienced driver to help with car development. Who knows, maybe they might be even grooming Heiki to take a car seat on weekends again.

after today's results, Heikki is sorely needed. Pic finished 17th, van de Garde 21st. What may happen, in the not-to-distant, is that Kova will be brought back as lead and either Pic or V d Garde will be retained as the #2. Or, Rossi, provided he places a top 5 finish in GP2, will be made the new #2.

From today it looks like Pic is the one who needs to be retained, he did pretty well. Only 10s behind a Torro Rosso, ahead of the hapless Gutierrez and comfortably ahead of the Marussias.

Keep in mind though that Pic had the updates and VdG didn't, so it wasn't exactly a fair comparison.

Ah, fair enough, I didn't know Van der Garde didn't have the updates. Well done to Caterham for developing some very successful updates in that case!

Yes, it was always going to suck to be Giedo this weekend. And it seems as if the updates to Charles' car were significant, as he was nearly a second quicker than vdG in qualifying, pulled away from Bianchi quite easily during the race, and was within striking distance of a Toro Rosso (the one that qualified P7 last week!) at the end.

VdG also lost a lap after collecting a spinning Vergne on Lap 1 so didnt really show much during the race.
Except for Caterham again releasing him into the Marussia's path.
Pic done a great job and showed his potential from last year as Bianchi has. Those two may have futures.
