And what does he say in his German interview.. 'Hab spaB gemacht.' I had fun :)

Latvala took a hit there in a dip?

[SS6] Jari-Matti Latvala (Volkswagen) 13:20.5 Looks like he has hit something on the rear left "We felt the vibration, it was a compression (jump) at the beginning of the stage and the impact was heavier than expected."

I think he did push there, problem with a broken rim and tyres going off. Not sure it makes much difference running 1st tomorrow unless its wet and muddy from cuts...

WRC2 Kubica leads overnight, Evans +12.4, Wiegand +1:54.2, Paddon +1:57.9

Good day for Paddon with 3 scratch times despite the damp conditions in the late morning , he's clearly suffering lack of low down power out of the tight hair pins however. I imagine he will rein in Weigand tomorrow but the others are too far ahead.

Sounds like Neuville realises he is the hot property for 2014 and could be on the move...

"I’m happy where I am for the moment because the team is doing an amazing job and Nasser and Malcolm gave me a big, big opportunity to drive this year,” Neuville told wrc.com. “I think with M-Sport I can have a great future. So we always say never change a team that is winning.

“But, at the same time, we didn’t win yet, we have just been on the podium. I’m open for everything and if there are some manufacturers or teams who want me to run, of course I’m listening and I will take my decision at the end.”

Plus Citroen boss Yves Matton said he would begin the process of building his 2014 squad after this weekend’s Rallye Deutschland and has praised Neuville for his recent performances...

Could it be a wrong/late pacenote that caused Ogiers accident? While watching the footage, I noticed he was to wide on the left corner just before to take a decent line on the right corner. And he went in to fast...
Or was he to fast in the left corner, causing him to be on the grass and therefore not being able to slow the car down?

That was my feeling at first watch too. He is right the place was damp after the left at the breaking - if there was no note about that from the ice crew then it is fault of them ( I dont believe the ice crew not noticed it). But maybe the whole stage was damp during the ice crew review.
It is also possible that he was simple too quick then in the left the breakeing can not be enough agressive othervise he loose the grip already in the left.

He says it is missing note for a damp place on the left hander when he was braking, from the video it seems the car just went little wide and slided there, then went too straight in the right hander. Probably truth is somewhere in the middle and he was little too fast there

Why strange? Even the best of them make mistakes sometimes. Loeb even :)

Like Ogier said in some interview, maybe a mistake by gravel crew, but he said that in the end it was his mistake because he was the one driving. That comment just made me like him more!

So a little resume of today. We did 4 stages, 2x Mittelmosel + Grafshaft. We started off with the fast right corner with the huge bump in exit (see video of Campedelli I posted earlier). Again really impressive how stabile the WRC cars were, thanks to the long spring travel and the perfect weight balance. The back of DS3's was kicked in the air a lot, resulting in a crash for Campedelli and extreme moment for Cronin (hitting the wall even 100m behind the bump). With Campedelli it was a bit funny. He tried to start the engine again immediately, but some spectators went knocking on his window, to tell him some wheels were missing (one gone and another wheel with broken damper/mount... :D The second place we did was a jump in a corner (see photo of Brynildsen), really crazy how fast they took it. Al-Attiyah, Kosciuszko and Brynildsen hadn't the best line and went off a little (some 1m, just on the edge of the grapes), quite lucky there... On the first stage of second loop we went to a well known jump (see photo of Al-Attiyah, who did some strange move). Was nice to see the cars jumping just before braking hard into a junction left. On the 4th stage we went to a very fast left corner with cut, was nice too, especially the Fiesta R2s were impressive there.

About the drivers, both Neuville and Latvala are great, very clean but fast, how it should be. Sordo and Hirvonen look really good also, on stage, I don't know where they are losing their time. The difference is probably in the details... Ostberg is very disappointing to me, in the very fast situations (except for the jump in corner we did) he wasn't really "on it", the difference was visible, he didn't even look faster than Prokop to give an example. Al-Attiyah driving like a mad man, so did Kosciuszko, seen him twice, 2x crazy. Kubica looks good with the DS3, very clean, like expected in fact. Elfyn Evans is very impressive, he is very fast but relatively clean as well. Also Hayden Paddon was very impressive all the time. Wiegand disappointing IMO, also very little progression to where he was a year ago. The DS3's and Fiesta's are nice to watch, an extra value to the event for sure! The only thing I'm missing is some more private WRC cars... 10 years ago there were 30 cars, and private cars of almost every make, shouldn't FIA create a rule that persuades manufacturers to sell their WRC cars to privateers?

Here's an update on my friend photo gallery, take a look: ADAC Rallye Deutschland 2013 (http://rallirinki.kuvat.fi/kuvat/ADAC+Rallye+Deutschland+2013/)

So, finally on the 3rd day Rally Germany began! We did 3 stages, similar to our last year's plan with Mittelmosel 2 and 2 and Grafschaft 2. Marshalls seemed to be more strict this year when compared to last. The wall we stood a year ago was an absolute no-go now, so I settled for a long view over the hairpins in the vineyards. Then Tom sent me the message on Ogier's misfortune, and all things went crazy since then for a moment. It looked liked Latvala was missing too, but soon we had both Polos in sight. At our point Latvala only a few seconds behind Ogier. With Ogier out of the picture, it must be said Latvala and Neuville are in the league of their own. The game is clear in my opionion, Latvala is in defence mode whereas Neuville must attack. Neuvillle did that for the first 4 stages, but luckily Latvala bounced back on the last two stages. I can tell Panzerplatte will decide. Other drivers just aren't there quite yet. If compared to Finland, the top is now only two drivers whereas in Finland it was 4-5 drivers throughout the event. For our last stop we did Grafschaft 2 near the finish, a bump into downhill hairpin right. Top drivers took it easy, but it was spectacular nevertheless. Novikov, Kubica and Evans made a difference there. Also, for a Finn, a different place to spectate a rally as we could see long view of the previous stage Moselland in the distance. Something unheard for us back at home.

Tomorrow we'll settle for three stages if it doesn't pour. It should be great battle in front!

Last night I was pretty sure that Neuville will catch and pass Latvala. Happy to see that Sordo is finally finding the needed pace.

All in all, whoever wins the rally will get it cheap. Somehow it doesn't have the glory knowing that Ogier would have won easily if he hadn't crash. Yes, I know that you need to finish the rally in order to win it but still, somehow it feels like charity :mark:

It will be interesting after the season... I agree that Hirvonen not has have a good run with the citroen but I don't think that he will disappeared from WRC. Citroen will not take him on 2014 I think but M-sport or Hyundai will. He is whatever we think, a good and fast driver in WRC. Right about now there is Ogier, Latvala, Neuville, Sordo, Hirvonen that is the "top drivers" that are most consistent if you guys understand me, but Östberg and Novikov is also fast but do more mistakes over a season then the rest. both Östberg and Novikov can be bloody fast aswell but I don't see them fighting for the WRC-title for some seasons at least.

About Hirvonen, I think that it's rather simple. Citroen as a Team don't fit him as a person, many drivers have said that Citroen is a hard team to come in to.

I think M-Sport can be an option if Citroen takes over Neuville for next season?

But I don't see that any top teams will take him on, but maybe Hyundai will if he now decide that he wants to go back but it's more likely that he stays with rallycross.

But he has only got about 15". One spin, one brake-point wrong, another Hinkelstein, and he's out of the lead. But to whom? Sordo is charging (finally), and I don't think Neuville can go any faster at this point.

Duval... haha.. No way. He was just to stupid and didn't drive "smart" at all and lost his career...

But what I understand, I'v heard that from Solberg in an swedish interview and some other drivers. They have talked about Citroen as a team and that it's tuff to "get in, in a proper way" with that team if you don't speak French for one example and so on. Not that Citroen is a "bad" team but that it can be "hard" to get a "good start" compered to M-Sport/Ford.

But I don't know, I don't have any experience there so ;) ;)

I think that Latvala will go little bit slower and safer this loop and he will stay in lead (finally!!!) :D (like that Latvala is back! :) )

Then I hope and really think that Sordo will take second away from Neuville. Sordo is faster today.

But it will be interesting with the rain, Panzerplatte will be bloody slippery with all this loose gravel...

“It is still warm and humid, so in these conditions the soft compound is the one to go for. The humid road surface is not so abrasive, so I have no concerns over the rubber lasting the 41km stage.”

Neuville's pole. Didn't sound to good, although his splits seemed okay in Stein & Wein. If he keeps it together, he can drive his 5th podium of the season.

Hoping for an 'original' solution for the exhaust pipe.. :)

okey then we only put the second and third place on the podium...

Mistakes is the way of the sport... It's about to get to the finish in first place, who cares about mistakes if you win... haha

Decent start to the rally by Neuville, keeping the VW's in sight...

Long way to go, and we all know JML, so a top 2 finish is a real possibility for Thierry.

Told you... JML always lets us down...

If Sordo win this rally I will be extremely upset. He has done nothing in this season that justify winning this rally. Neuville is the one who really deserve to win this, given his pace and performance this season.

Seems like ADAC wants to cancel the rest of the rally too. Accident happened at the famous Gina jump.
