Looking at recent entry lists from the R.A.C Rally Championship and this weeks Wyedean Rally there seems to be a growing interest in putting BMW's back out on the stages. Is this a trend we can hopefully see growing?

There seems to be a case here where the Bimmer can actually offer a clubman and event a serious driver and co-driver with what is a very cost effective option to go and compete and most importantly, have some great fun in!.

At the Wyedean there are 4 confirmed entries ranging from Colin Webb and Matt Rogers seeded in 41st with the BMW 325 running in the MSA Welsh Championship. John O'gorman and John Rutter in the E30, seeded 54th and running in both the BTRDA Gold & Silver Championships.

Also running are seasoned Driver Robert Harkness and Mike Curry in a 316 seeded 56th, competing in the B12 (over 2 ltr) class with PistonHeads legends Chris (Harris Monkey) and Dan Prosser bringing Chris's newly tweaked 325i by the up and coming rally specialists from Cornwall, Rally Prep, who tweaked quite a few things from steering, suspension and upgraded the brakes system. which I hear the RP team has accomplished for the PH guys, as they are pioneering a sensible cost effective solution to getting out there with cars that will need less time in the service park and ultimately less stress and more fun time for the team and drivers. Harris and Prosser are pretty sound at what they do so I'm sure there is going to be a lot of interesting press and video footage posted on top of what Harris on Cars has already posted! So, hopefully, it'll gain some interest and even more people turning to the marque again for rally.

What would be good to know is how many of you here are passionate about rally, and are any of you competing who would think the E30 or any of the other Bimmers are capable of breaking the dominance the escorts have in historic rally?

I dont think the E30 shape is currently eligible for historic rallying.
And even if they were i'm pretty certain that they too could be anything but ridiculously expensive to build and run, especially for the 4 rally drivers and a load of sweepers, sorry i mean Historic Championship.......

And anyway, isn't against forum rules to start a thread as a pr exercise????
