Best time for me in the shakedown so far is a 2.43, keep spinning the car at different points. I've tweeked the setup a wee bit to try and combat the car grounding out on the cuts.

Just finished my shakedown for this rally. My car for this event is the Ford Fiesta RRC.

1st run - Shepherds Shield - 01:00.78 - 01:58.04 - 02:54.55
Not so good run for me. Stalled in a junction about half way through the stage and later hit a small tree which stopped the car in its tracks, no damage though. I found the default setup too stiff for my liking.
2nd run - Shepherds Shield - 01:01.15 - 01:54.41 - 02:42.29
Adjusted the setup a little bit and the car felt better. I managed to stall the engine again at the same place like on the first run.
3rd run - Shepherds Shield - 00:59.14 - 01:52.85 - 02:39.67
This time relatively clean run.
4th run - Shepherds Shield - 00:59.43 - 01:50.72 - 02:36.54
I think this is as fast as I can go without going out of my comfort zone.

I wait for your times bennizw! :D

It's tight in shakedown but for me I know that the night stages will be very hard and I will probably loose a lot of time. I hate them because of the poor car lights... :P

I will start Day 1 very soon!

Good luck to all!

NeverKnow has pointed out that on the stages with rain as the weather that you needto change the grip levels to damp.

EightGear
27th December 2012, 12:34
Right, day 1 done and it wasn't all that smooth :D ! SS1 went OK, no problems there. On Chirdonhead I was a little out of the road at some point and lost a few seconds.
SS3 Autiovaara was bad. I already didn't really know that stage and in dusk and on gravel it is even harder. Hit a rock and had to reverse. SS4 Humulamaki went OK, could have been a little better. SS5 Joux Plane on gravel is just great. No major issues on that one.

bennizw
27th December 2012, 12:35
Better put that up on the top so everybody knows before starting the rally :)

Just sent my times in. It was quite tricky rally at times and made a mess on some of the stages. Probably took too easy in the damp. I will post my report once all the times are in to avoid any spoilers.

Good luck everyone!

Sent in my times. It was tricky rally at times and made a mess on some of the stages. Probably took it too carefully on the damp stages.

On SS2 I stalled in a junction, I still need to get used to the cars behaviour in hairpins. On the next stage I think I was way too flamboyant in the corners which probably cost me time. On SS4 few hundred meters from the finish I hit a rock with front left corner when I was slightly off the line. This spun the car around but surprisingly for me no significant damage and I finished the stage.

The rest of the rally was quite alright except on SS9 I got little bit stuck in a hairpin. Lost some time there. Gravel section SS12 was very slippery also so I took it easy there.

Good luck everyone!

Hey!

Sent in my stagetimes for the first day.

SS1: I hate the night stages because of the really bad lights from the cars in this game but it was fun anyway! :) The stage was a ok, didnt take any risk and the time was like that then...
SS2: I really love the "Chirdonhead" stage but I was angry after the finish, really bad time and some misstakes in the stage. But really fun! :)
SS3: Never done that one in gravel mod so it went like it went... ;) Careful and some misstakes like some other drivers here!
SS4: Really fun stage and a good time I think, no misstakes.
SS5: really fast and nice stage but very slippery I think, not good with original setups, and I think my problems is just setups...

Soon Day 2! Go fast and leave the head at home! :)

ss1 oneof my good stages wasnt very good but not bad
ss2 went quite cautious but no mistakes
ss3 one of my favorites but had a few offs dusk is just like nigh huh..
ss4 tricky stage. and i was extra cautious and was 4 seconds off the pace
ss5 Tarmak is not my thing so i tried had a huge off but finished it

soon day 2 good luck to everyone

Day 2

SS6: Falstone. Not a plessent thing, very very slippery, I went sideways all the time so I think I lost alot of time there.
SS7: Hradek. Went ok but the car is to light in back so I left foot brake alot and to soon I think. It's a really nice stage!
SS8: Joux Verte. It was good but I get a complete stop in a hairpin som I lost some seconds there. But besides that, it went good!
SS9: Liptakov. Like Hradek, a hard/tuf stage with some slippery parts... I feel that my original setup is not optimal but much left foot braking to calm the car down and I hade a short stop in a junction. The Mini seems to be queit easy to get engine stop in hairpins and junction in first gear and with use of handbreak sadly...

Overall - it went okey but not happy! But very fun and I want to see your stage times! :D

Astro83
27th December 2012, 18:25
Oh well, now I'm at the finish and have driven the last stage, SS12...

The third day went quiet okey! The french stage was very good, good feeling and some small misstakes on Pribram, like stall the car and so on and the last stage, I went very very careful so I got to the finish!

Thank you all for a good time and fight! I'll be waiting for the times to come up now! :D

And will put some pics from the stages here soon!

Hope for more rally soon!

Just done shakedown for the event. Had three runs through Shepards Shield:

First run: 02:33.59 - A little bit of stage at some points, car not feeling too good.
Second run: 02:36.52 - An off towards the end having to drive the car back on the road.
Third run: 02.31.03 - Went a little bit off stage in the junction after the water splash, and nearly spun. After that pretty much flat out.

Now to the stages!

DAY 1 SUMMARY FOR BENNIZ/Norwegian/Ford Fiesta RRC

SS1: Uneven driving, hard to find a good feeling on a surface that differs from the rest of the English stages. Almost stalled in the very first corner!

SS2: Pretty clean. Had some close calls, so may be attacking too much. Happy with the time considering it running in the dusk.

SS3: Never liked this stage in snow, and it wasn`t much better on gravel. A couple of offs here and there, but kept the car going. Starting to get used to driving with low light now, but happy that the rest of the rally is in the day time from now.

SS4: Had an amazing roll, going off the stage midways rolling while still going forwards and landing on the wheels. Very lucky! Had a second off later, where I was very lucky not to hit a tree or stone. Too much of an attack, and lucky to still be in the rally.

SS5: At last a clean stage. Had a good push without going over the limits.

END OF DAY COMMENT: "All in all an OK day, but not without some lucky moments. With gravel being my prefered surface I have tried to go as fast as possible before the rally swaps to tarmac tomorrow. I expect to be slower then, but am looking forward to the challenge!"

bennizw
29th December 2012, 16:20
DAY 2 SUMMARY FOR BENNIZ/Norwegian/Ford Fiesta RRC

SS6: A pretty good run in the damp conditions. The car setup worked well despite the surface being slippier than normal.

SS7: Didn`t want to push to hard on the first tarmac stage of the event. Found the gravel extremely slippy. I think the time turned out OK.

SS8: Had a stall in one of the last hairpins of the descent part of the stage, so lost 4-5 seconds there. Other than that very early on the braking into the hairpins, but have at least got a stable pace for now.

SS9: Not bad. Almost had a stall again in the very last corner of the stage, but was lucky to avoid it. Other than that pretty clean. Starting to get an OK feeling for the tarmac in the car. Had more or less no testing before the event on this surface.

END OF DAY COMMENT: "Less incidents so far on the tarmac than on the gravel during this rally. Allthough I have found an OK pace for now, everything will be new for tomorrow with the rain that will be due. With the last day being the shortest of the three, I will try to maintain the pace without pushing.

DAY 3 SUMMARY FOR BENNIZ/Norwegian/Ford Fiesta RRC

SS10: Major fright just a couple of corners in with the grip obviously being lower than the stages of day 2. Took it pretty easy from here to ensure I`d make the finish.

SS11: No incidents surprisingly! Never liked this stage, and never made a proper setup for it. Quite tricky in the damp, but it went OK.

SS12: I opted for intermediate gravel tyres considering the rain and the fact that most of the twisty parts of the stage are in gravel. I hope this paid off!

END OF DAY COMMENT: A pretty clean day with a much more controlled pace than in day one. A great variety of stages throughout the rally has made it very enjoyable! A big thanks to Macd who took the initiative and responsibility of running the rally, I hope we can do this more often! :)

I'm looking forward to see the standings and all the stagetimes!

30th December 2012, 17:10
Day one done:
SS1 went well, slight overshoot on the 90 left but other than that pretty clean
SS2 went very well, a good clean run and no incidents to report
SS3 went okay apart from sliding wide near the start and hitting a rock, no real damage done and i got to the end in one piece
SS4 was very quick, i think i spent 90% of the stage in 6th. I probably should have picked longer gears
SS5 was good until 6kms in where i slid wide and bent the steering on a wooden fence. The car was great for left hand corners but terrible on the right handers, i think i've lost a lot of time there.
