This is going to sound absolutely daft but if you intend to buy a Cruze (Chevrolet or Holden) then do yourself a favour a get the hatchback; even if you'd prefer the sedan.

The Cruze although it wears a Chevrolet badge was designed in house by Holden and then tested in Australia. Cruzes are built either in North America, Korea or Australia. The thing is though that the hatchback is exclusively built in Australia.
Parts come from all three sources and body pressings mainly come from Korea except for the hatchback.

It seems that because most versions of the car are built to much tighter price points and because the Holdens are built to best practice, which includes building for Australian roads, it shows up markedly. Incidentally, the hatchback across all markets because it is built in Australia, has side impact protection bars in the doors, which

When it comes to the two year reliability of the vehicles, only the Australian produced cars got given a pass by the NRMA survey; whereas the sedan was given a "less than satisfactory" rating. Since the only way to guarantee that you'll get an Oz built car is to get the hatchback, then that's the one to get.

Thanks for the advice but it sounds much simpler not buying a Cruze... :p
