No, he didn't start. A moderator deleted all my posts by accident, and I started this thread and some other... Pitty. Had a good shakedown and first day in Condroz. Verschueren is driving really insane, on the limit everywhere. Bouche was surprisingly fast and the car works really well as it seems. The 208 R2 Boon is driving seems to be a really good car, looks fast and as I heard his times are always faster than other R2's. Off to the last day now :)

Some news about Legend Boucles de Spa. There will be a new stage in Bilstain, partly gravel and partly asphalt, with several jumps (the domain has been used for super-motard-things in the past), I hope it will replace Plenesses (the most boring stage ever driven in Belgium, together with 'Zoning' in Omloop van Vlaanderen). First big names are Bruno Thiry (Audi A2 Quattro), Thierry Neuville (Citroën Visa 1000pistes) and Van de Wauwer (Lancia Beta).

Last year, when he was with Peugeot, he was driving a Peugeot 104 if I'm correct. :) So between the lines you could read that he continues with Citroën next year, in the WRC... Maybe it's time to put something here about the Belgian Junior championship that is going to be organized next year, it will run in the same (8) events as the Belgian championship. The championship is open for drivers with any nationality born AFTER 1987. Drivers from any country can enter the junior championship if they send an entry-form, except if they have (had) a FIA-priority status. The championship is open for all cars from R1 and R2 class.

The point system: Drivers will get points for their overall classification and for the classification in their class within the junior-championship.
Points overall: 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1, like the old WRC-system.
For the championship-classification they add the points of your class, also: 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1.
On top of that there is one point for each fastest time in your class (you must be fastest in your class, not just junior, if someone outside the championship is faster in that certain stage, you don't get the extra point).

Several importers have been showing their interests in the rallying by organizing trophies/cups and/or promising prize-money for drivers who do well:

- Skoda is giving 1500 euros to the fastest Fabia (R2 or RS) in general classification, 1000 to 2nd, 500 to 3rd. Also Fabia RS is counted with those, but not included in the junior-championship. On top of that a driver who wins his class (R2 or M15 for the Fabia RS) gets another 2000 euros. That's for each event.

- Citroën is having their Belgian trophy again, with DS3 R3 and DS3 R1 (not with C2 Max anymore). The trophy has 6 events (Sankt-Wendel Rally - DE, Rallye de Wallonie, Ypres Rally, Omloop van Vlaanderen, Rally of Luxembourg - LU, Rallye du Condroz), of which 4 are in the junior championship too (for those who drive an R1), the trophy is seperated in R3 and R1, both have own classification, with same point system as in WRC.
Prizes for R1 in the Citroën Racing Trophy:
1st. 1500 euros cash, 500 euros Citroën Racing parts, 2 pirelli tyres.
2nd. 700 euros cash, 400 euros Citroën Racing parts, 2 pirelli tyres.
3rd. 100 euros cash, 200 euros Citroën Racing parts, 2 pirelli tyres.
4th. 100 euros cash, 150 euros Citroën Racing parts, 2 pirelli tyres.
5th. 2 pirelli tyres.
For DS3 R3-part (not in junior championship) of the trophy:
1st. 3000 euros cash and 2000 euros parts.
2nd. 2000 euros cash and 1000 euros parts.
3rd. 1000 euros cash and 700 euros parts.
4th. 500 euros parts.
5th. 300 euros parts.

- Peugeot is having their Peugeot Rally Cup in Belgium, supported by Peugeot Sport and Kronos Racing. The cup counts for 6 of the 8 events of the Belgian (junior) championship. The entry fee for driver and codriver together is 1500 euros. Not much info about point-systems yet. There is also a lot of prize-money from Peugeot Belux, for each event:
1st. 3000 euros (and another 1000 if you win in junior-classification)
2nd. 2000 euros.
3rd. 1500 euros.
4th. 1000 euros.
5th. 500 euros.
50% of it is paid cash, another 50% is for Peugeot-parts.

- Ford will have a Fiesta Sport Trophy (R2 and perhaps R1, I don't know about it yet) again, with 6 events (probably 5 in BRC and 1 in Luxembourg), no more details about that yet. Also works with similar prize-money as the others I described above this here.

The Legend Boucles de Spa has only 20 places left for entrants, that almost 3months before the event takes place. The rally will have almost 40% more SS km's next year, what will also make the event start 1 hour earlier on saturday. Also important is that the boring Plenesses stage is out. And there will be a more old-skool timing system (which seems to be more reliable). :)

No exact timing yet. Usually first stage is around 10 O'clock in the morning, and the last is somewhere shortly before midnight. This year I think organizers announced it would start a bit earlier because there are more stages. I guess first stage should be around 9 O'clock now...

Freddy knew in 2012 months before the rally season started that Tsjoen should do again the Belgian Championship last year. Group Combronde (FRENCH company) was a major sponsor on his car in France last year. Do you think they would've sponsored him if he would have been competing in another country?

It is not online yet, i don't know when the organisers will give full entry list. The only thing that is for sure is that all places for Legends category (120) are taken. In total there would be 272 cars competing.

The budget was there... But as mentioned he broke his collar bone.

It was a nice event, we did 6 stages, one of them in dark. Nice stages, difficult weather conditions, great spectacle, nice variety of historic cars (different from other historic events)... :) Pitty of the retirements, but that's how it goes, especially with historic cars.

Can any one tell me something about Larsen? Is he a big talent? Experience and speed on tarmac?

Simon Larsen is regarded as one of the most talented young drivers in Denmark and has for some years been a part of a talent developement project in Denmark. Last year he and another young driver (Simon Vallentin) were evaluated up against each other and Simon Larsen lost out in that evaluation. Thus he is now doing the R2 championship in Belgium on his own. He has been doing very well in Danish rallies - usually comfortably winning his class - but he has little experience outside Denmark. Danish rallies is almost exclusively on tarmac so he is used to that - however tarmac in Belgium and in Denmark are two very different things. I noticed this when I spectated at Omloop van Vlandern last year.
Summed up, he is doing well in Denmark, and can certainly be both fast and spectacular. But he is facing a steep learning curve and I would be surprised if he will mix it with the leading R2 cars in Haspengouw. But I am looking very much forward to see how he will develop during the year.

Lhonnay had gearbox problems, so pointed late out of service. He got back up to P3 on the last stage, big attack and great time there!
Loix had a puncture and ... a gearbox problem :D So he went late out of service too. But won in the end!

Philip Cracco his Fiesta WRC (nr. 17) arrived in Belgium. He the plan is to enter TAC Rally and Rallye de Wallonie with WRC-spec. GEKO Rally van Wervik (test event for Ypres) and GEKO Ypres Rally will be done in RRC spec. After Ypres nothing is decided, but I'm quite sure more events will follow... :)
I had the chance of going to M-Sport with the team, very nice experience, a few photos below.

First tests today with the Fiesta WRC (for Cracco Sr) and 208 R2 (for Cracco Jr). In fact Neuville was driving the Fiesta more than Philip Cracco himself, same was for the 208 R2 for Pieterjanmichiel, where Loix was driving most of the time to show the young driver how to do it. Both cars look very good. I was quite impressed by the 208 R2, seems to be a really good car, also very stable. And of course the Fiesta is a great car, especially when driven by Thierry Neuville.

The responsible for DMACK said we only have to order tyres after testing them (this week), so they are quite confident about their products... :)
Also the main goal for PJM is to learn and gain more experience. And that goes just as well with a DMACK tyres as with Michelin. ;) He has done only 2 rallies so far (one on snow in Estonia with Loix as co, one regional event in Hannut with Miclotte as co). Now he will do TAC (with Robin Buysmans), and the week after it's Portugal. He's 17 years old, will be his 4th event, first on gravel, and already between (future) WRC stars like Tidemand... Don't expect too much from him yet, give him some time to learn... :)

Well, When I was spectating in South-Estonian witerrally on SS1 and SS3 then I was sure that he plans to use the same spikes next year as well :-P But later he was driving a bit faster and it might be the case that he needs new spikes for next year :-P

I went to Rallye des Ardennes last weekend. A regional rally in the region of Condroz/Wallonie, many years ago it was a big event... The rally was won by Croes-Evo X. Conditions were very bad (snow and around 1°C) compared to last year (sunny and 20°C)...

Loix should win easily without any problem...
The battle fot second should be great, as we saw in the Haspengouw Rally, first round of the championship, between WRC, S2000, gr N, R4 and RWD. We've got:
Bonjean (Fabia WRC), fast car, but he is not used to it...
Lietaer and Cornelis (Subaru S5 WRC), local drivers, but an old car
Cracco (Fiesta WRC), very fast car but a gentleman driver and first time with that car, I don't think he will fight for the podium.
Sturbois (Corolla WRC) and Mummery (Focus WRC) will not end in the top 5.
Debackere (207 S2000) and Kobus (Fiesta S2000) have the fastest S2000's but Verschueren (Polo S2000) knows the car and the stages perfectly and always drives on the limit
Princen (Evo X grN) and Lefevre (Exo X R4) are outsiders for a top 5 finish.
Van Parijs (Porsche 911) and Van Woensel (BMW 130i) should battle for the victory in RWD, but normally Van Woensel should win it. They can go for top 5 too (certainly Van Woensel)

And then there is the fight in Historic and R2, Really looking forward to the rally :D
