Really enjoyed my day, driver of the rally was Kobus for me, incredibly commited! Also Snijers, Sturbois, Verschueren, Debackere (although times weren't good), Cherain, Tidemand, Neuville, Hermann, Bodson were nice to watch and I certainly forget some names!

Snijers Porsche is a GT+, comparable to the one of Nantet I think.

Good news for the 40th Rallye du Condroz. Sebastien Loeb/Severine Loeb driving a DS3 WRC, Yves Matton/Daniel Elena with Xsara WRC. :)

A driver died in a crash at the TBR Rally today :(

Sadly i must comfirm this news, historic driver Carl Lagae died today after a crash with his Escort. He was codriven by his wife who has some severe injuries and is in the hospital. R.I.P. to all of his family and friends. It doesn't seem to stop. :(
The accident happened in TBR Rally in Roeselare and the rally was stopped immediately after the accident happened.

Stage times are an absolute mess, Loeb suddenly seemed to have a 2 minute time penalty after stage 9, now that has vanished into thin air.
Think I'll just wait till tonight and watch an hour after the last stage of today to be sure of the current standings.. :laugh:

Geusens is 23. First year at national level, first time with 208 at Condroz. Doing very good.

Hansen must be the guy you're talking about. Not 100% sure though.

Fantastic.:D After yesterday morning, when rumours appeared that he retired, I didn't have any hope. But despite losing more than 3 minutes he still won.

Do you know where I can find classification for the Fiesta Trophy and 208 Rally Cup ?
And did have drivers to register to take part to this cup, or only have the right car ? there was a lot of newcomers with 208 / Fiesta in Condroz :/

And I've seen there should have been a Twingo R1 / R2 trophy ... but can't find any news. If someone can help me ... (was it a trophy with classification or only prize monney as Skoda ? had driver to register ? if yes, who register, ...)

For the first time this year there will be a Demo category with some nice cars which aren't allowed in the historic class. Among them: BMW M3, Subaru 555 GR.A, Sierra RS Cosworth, Peugeot 205 T16, Audi Quattro Sport (S1), Toyota Celica ST165, MG Metro 6R4. From some of the drivers we shouldn't expect too much (let's say something like slowly sideways). Two well-known drivers among them are:
Marc Duez, driving a Metro 6R4 (Duez was involved in the development of the Metro back in the day)
Laurent Verhoestraete driving a Subaru Impreza 555 Gr.A (former Belgian champion)

But Imho it's a stupid stage. A few laps of a small track with some 90° corners... only 3km in total.

Had a nice event, it's always nice to see these old cars being pushed to the limits (yes they were). :) Especially François Duval, Alister McRae and Cédric Cherain were very spectacular!

The onboard is a good proof that the current generation of drivers is able to handle historic cars as well. Cherain was driving an Opel Manta A, and on this stage of the onboard video he was fastest, beating Duval, A. McRae, Snijers, De Mevius etc who all had a faster car. Must watch! ;)

Return of the first rally of the belgian championship. Saw a nice rally, only a pity there were a lot of retirements (Verschueren, Debackere, Bonjean, Snijers, Serderidis, Cherain, Soenens, Colsoul etc).
Loix was outstanding.
Van Woensel drove a nice rally, about the best he could do.
Princen was disappointing, the S12b is still a difficult rally...
Kobus, solid result, but still a long way from Loix.
The rest had kind of a lonely rally, big gaps and no big battles...

Princen is the big favorite for me, but don't rule out Loix, Kobus, Cherain, Bonjean, Grooten and Bouche. All good drivers with good cars... Gone be a very nice battle! Add the R2 battle to that (Brown, Q. Collignon, Croes, De Cecco vs De Mevius, Demaerschalck, Dilley, Fernemont and Radoux can all win it), RWD (Lejeune vs Snijers), bunch of quick Evo's (Langenakens, Collard, Cunin, De Ridder and Renkin) and it should be a superb rally!

Who is Benoit Allart?
A local driver from Wallonie. Previously did most of the rallies with an older Impreza WRX Sti. Since last year he tries to do some rallies in the second Fabia WRC here in Belgium now owned by Eric Cunin. Quite good driver was consistently faster last year in the home rally of Vande Wauwer who was in a 307 WRC then. Sadly Allart crashed out on SS Malonne and is out..

Benoit Allart is the 1999 Koenig Formula German champion (Michael Schumacher took part to that championship before). He was on the short list of the Belgian drivers with an eye on Formula 1. http://paddockf1.tripod.com/belgium.html He drove in the Formula Palmer later on. After two years in the Palmer, he stopped his career and concentrate on his work in his garage. Funny thing is that he is a VW-Audi-Seat dealer. But no Skoda.

A little preview for the "Sezoensrally", 4th round of the Belgian Championship.

Fight for the victory should be between the WRCs and S2000s:

Bonjean David - Skoda Fabia WRC
Princen Kris - Subaru Impreza S12 WRC
Van Loon Erik - Ford Fiesta WRC
Kobus Hermen - Ford Fiesta S2000
Loix Freddy - Skoda Fabia S2000

I would guess Loix will take victory, as Princen hasn't got much experience in the rally or with the S12 on gravel. I see Van Loon finish 2nd and Princen 3rd.

Then there are a bunch of Evo's (Langenakens, Jonkers and Van Hoof should be the fastest ones) and a Fiesta R5 with a gentlemen driver:

Was a nice rally, despite the weak entry list (mainly the absence of any R2 cars as no cups had this event in their calendar). Again a victory for Princen, while Loix claims 2nd. The championship is halfway after this event, and we can already see that it's nearly impossible for anyone to prevent Loix from winning the title. Positive surprises were two Dutch drivers: Kevin Kooijman (EvoX) and Mats van den Brand (Fiesta R2).

French driver Kicq bought the Fabia S2000 used by Loix this year, while BMA bought the Fabia used previously by Sepp Wiegand this season. Both Loix (with the "new" ex-Wiegand Fabia) and Kicq (with the ex-Loix Fabia) will drive in Omloop van Vlaanderen in 2 weeks.

I enjoy my first Omloop :)
As always as I go to Belgium, rally is really good there. And not only competitors, but too the welcome of spectators. Not as in France ...

Impressed by the Fiesta R200. More power than Fiesta R2, quite good car ! And Tanghe pushed, as always :)
Cherain crazy with the Fiesta R5. Loix is Loix, always good ...
Great Ten Brinke too, he seems he didn't lost too much in a year.

Only one disappointment : never see the sun :(

Sadly yes a very tragic story..

He was the founder of G&V quite a big sponsor in Belgian Rallying and also sponsor of Bert Coene with Evo X and father of the zero car Olivier who took it over from his father Lieven who did that job on some rallies. The other person was John Deconick a rallydriver and tuner of Evo's and some other cars.. RIP Lieven and John, they will be missed..

They are allowed, but they can only score points for their overall result, not for their results in class. All other cars score for both. It's a new rule introduced this season.

So for example, Loix finishes 2nd and Princen wins, Loix will score more points than Princen. (Overall+class vs. just overall)

Thank you for the explanation, well that's too bad, I was thinking we could have had a nice fight until Condroz, but I was looking just as results and not at classifications.

This has been used in Germany (DRM) as well. All in all I think this rule has not done any damage to the championship. Projects like Loix-Skoda and Tsjoen-Peugeot are made possible by this. Also the fights for victories were much more exciting this year than during years when WRC scored for the championship. There was usually only one very good driver with the best car, like Tsjoen-Focus/C4 or Loix-Focus.

This year we've seen amazing efforts from Kobus and Cherain, who often were quite close to Freddy. Regarding the situation they both do a great job! Cherain does not have that much experience with this kind of car yet, he's building it, and Kobus has an older generation car and the Kumho tyres. On top of that you must know that Freddy Loix is driving some top-rallycar (WRC/S2000/R5) almost every week, as testing driver for Michelin and Skoda Motorsport.

Anyway, tomorrow there is the East Belgian Rally. Great entry-list considering the championship-fight is over and considering the region (only very few BRC-drivers are from the region). Of course there is Thierry Neuville, but there are more R5 (Cherain-Fiesta, Tsjoen-208, Swaanen-Fiesta, Verschueren-DS3, Serderidis-Fiesta), S2000 (Kobus) and WRC cars (Princen, Van Woensel, De Jong, Martin) and some GT's, Group N's (with a surprising appearance of Vanden Heuvel) etc.. ;) http://login.webpartner.be/pages/19/www.eastbelgianrally.eu/Startlijst_EBR_Nationaal.pdf - Here's the list.
