Go karting

Im 16, 6 foot tall and weigh about 13 stone and I live between Daventry and Banbury in a small village.
I would like to start at the bottom in kart racing and then climb the ranks of karting.
I also want to build a kart which would be suitable for racing competivealy at a low level and for a beginner.
I dont have much money which is why I want to buy serperate parts over a year to build a go kart?

What websites sell good quality chassis that are relatively low priced?
Is thier some companys near where I live which sell go kart chassis?

But I have some problems I dont know anything about go karting races or championships and im not very exprienced in go karting.

What are the major karting events/races in the UK?

What are the minor and major karting events/races in Northamptonshire and Oxfordshire?

Could some one recommened a low level karting race event that would be good to start with?

Could some one tell me which karting races which would be good for a beginner?

Which kart set up would be good for a person like me?

What are the karting championships called?

Any information and advice would be greatly apprciated

This isn't a subject I know anything about, but instinctively I feel you are better buying a second- or third- hand machine than trying to make your own. Although apparently simple, there's a lot to a kart and knowing nothing you would make a lot of mistakes. If you find a local club and make the acquaintance of the members and offer to help out then maybe in time you'll get the offer of help in return.

If I were you I would buy a cart,2nd or3rd hand as was mentioned,do some go cart racing AND see if you like it.I know a young lad who is very quick in a cart IF he is the only cart on the track ,but once he gets knocked and bumped about,he then does not like it !Usually these young lads who are small in height and light in weight (like 8 stone) have a big advantage as to how fast a small engine can get you round a track,so weight is the big advantage,and less is faster !!!

Move to Australia where the kids are bigger and if you get to the level of a touring car driver they are larger as well e.g Holden drivers Tander and Percat are 1.9 metres tall.
Aus has weight classes for karts, where you race against drivers of a similar weight.

Have you considered motocross or enduro (what do you call the enduro events that ride a off road circuit for a set time over a few hours) ?
