Just wondering, before todays qualifying, when was the last time that a BMW qualified on pole position? I seem to remember Martyn Bell starting up front at oulton park last year but i'm guessing that must have been either weather or reverse grid related. I'm on about when the last time a genuine fastest time got a beemer on the top spot? guessing about 1993 time but i'm sure someone can enlighten me!

I'd guess sometime during 1996 with Jo Winkelhock as he won a few races that season.

Winkelhock was on pole for the last race at Brands Hatch in the 1996 season.

I think the performances by Turkington, Jackson and Onslow-Cole today should lay to rest any fears of the BMWs not being suited to British circuits.

Especially as Brands is considered BMWs worst track.

very surprising to see how the BIG 320Si done well in the qualifs, but in the race it will be very hard for Colin to stay in the lead, as the opposition is very powerfull and the times are very close
