Yeah, I have to record it too and watch later. FGP results will be delayed.
I know this is usually a boring track in reality but game-wise this was always one of my favorites.

8 minutes into FP2 and Grosjean's swiped the barrier and lost his front wing (then harmlessly recovered to the pits). After his poor weekend in Germany I'm sure that's the last thing he needs.

That will teach him that you shouldn't push the limit with these tyres, just drive at 90%

I tend to quite enjoy Hungary.

I think it is much like a karting track and has a feel of a circuit where despite the difficulty to pass the driver really has to work hard.

There have been some good races round here.

Off top of my head

89 or 91.Boutsen defending against everyone. Forget if I got the year right
Likewise Mansells charge from 14th to 1st. Again forget the year
97 Hills near win in the Arrows
98 Schumi's 3 stopper to mug Mclaren
03 Alonsos 1st win and battling behind
06 Button's win in a exciting wet race.
2011 Last years race was good fun too.

McLaren is back in form. But how is their race pace? Can they still compete for the title?

Good to see Grosjean at the front. Hope for a clean race, because as long as he can avoid trouble, he is usually fast. Is this perhaps Lotus' best chance to win a race this year? They have never started that far up on the grid so far and are usually better in race trim than in qualifying. However, if it rains, I suspect it will be more difficult for Lotus.

Alonso can be expected to accomplish his usual trick by strongly competing for top positions despite an average grid slot. So we have at least six drivers, who are very strong contenders for the podium (the whole top6 on the grid). Some of them will be disappointed. Gonna be exciting!

Incredible that this is the first time Senna has reached Q3 all season, while his team-mate has been a regular visitor there. Hülkenberg continues to outqualify di Resta. Likewise Pic seems to get in front of Glock quite often. And Sauber - again underwhelming on Saturday. Are we again going to see a storming race from them or not this time?

driveace
28th July 2012, 17:41
McLaren need to start to score points ,so Lewis needs to nail this one on the board, and Button needs to occupy Vettel and Alonso,s minds be challenging them.So hope Lewis gets away quick, and doesn't knacker his tyres too early racing Vettel in the first few laps ,and that the Renualt, can keep Vettel and Alonso at bay too.

steveaki13
28th July 2012, 22:03
Lewis is looking mighty here so far. He was so fast today. I think he is favourite to win, but as we have seen it is not easy this season to predict winners. We have seen drivers and cars look mighty in Quali and for whatever reason not get the win.

Mclaren have to start winning regularly and hopefully other podiums for the second car to have any chance in the championship and unfortunatley with Lewis retiring last time. I think any chance of a drivers title is almost gone. Having said that if Lewis's pace here is representative of a step forward then they could win some races still.

I think Lewis can win if he gets ahead early, but the Lotus do show good race pace and are fast here, and may well finally be able to win a race here ahead of Lewis in the dry.
However as we know there is a fair chance of rain tomorrow and we know Lewis can excell in the rain so that might protect him from the Lotus, but then Alonso and Ferrari seem to excell alot. i.e the last two Qualifying sessions.

Overll I would love to see Lewis win here and think he will.

Grosjean has really impressed me time and time again this season. He looks so much better than in 2009. However he does still make a few to many mistakes. He has the speed and car to win tomorrow on a dry day.

Seb. Well he is fast but this season who knows he has been mighty at times and lacklustre at others. So depends who turns up.

Button and Raikkonen also start in decent positions, Jenson often has slow starts so needs a decent start at 4th at least to be in the race.

Ferrari clearly dont have a fast car here, they are maybe 4th fastest here after Mclaren, Lotus and Red Bull. Alonso got about as high as he could and Felipe drove really well. I think we would all love to see him have a great race here and he actually could keep around Fernando here this weekend.
That said we have seen Alonso at times this year start here in a solid car and yet finish on the podium such is the class of the man. So don't write him off for a win if it rains.

Williams two cars in top 10 for the first time I believe. I was actually slightly dissapointed. They seemed to have the pace earlier on to get a top 3 rows start and maybe a second row start.
You never quite know with Pastor and Bruno they could finish with lots of points but equally could both be lapped. The do appear to go backwards quite often.

Webber again failed to supply the consistancy needed to win a title for me. He always drives well and has good races, but ends up battling midfield cars too often. Last weekend a great example after a win at Silverstone.

Sauber always seem slow in Quali but often are really fast in the races so hope they can move forward.

It might seem a bit simplistic but this never looked like being a Mercedes track. Slow and twisty. Their power and top speed might move them forward again in Italy and Belgium. This however could be a painful weekend.

Caterham looked reasonable today and may have a chance of mixing it with the Toro Rossos early on.

Would like to see Narain have a better race this weekend.

Looking forward to this race. Not as easy to pass as at some tracks but I am still looking forward to it.

Likewise Pic seems to get in front of Glock quite often.

I'm really pulling for Charles to be retained by Marussia and have a career in F1. He does seem, however, very tentative on opening laps. It's almost as if he's racing not to bend the car. Aside from a 2nd lap coming-together with an HRT (forgot which race), where he had to pit for a new nose cone, I don't think he's had a single accident, or even a spin, all season.

Tazio
29th July 2012, 06:56
I would love to have to eat those words, believe me ! :D It appears that they are expecting extremely light rain, perhaps less than 1.5 mm for the race with only a 30% chance for the start. This bodes well for Lotus (as well as The Boss)

I'm not too terribly worried. As usual The F2012 will be much better suited for this track relative to the field in race trim. Plus, I will be overjoyed with a 4th or a 5th. In substantial rain he runs a much higher risk of being taken out by a less skilled driver. If the race is dry I think he has a realistic shot at a podium. As you know, this guy Fred; he is a rather clever fellow.

I hope Lewis wins this one but if its a wet race Its probably unlikely, in which case I hope one of the 'Loti' win.... and no offence to the tifosi on here but Alonso has enough of a lead in the WDC to have a DNF and keep the championship interesting. ;)

Then you won't be angry if I cheer for another mistake for McLaren? I personally hope for an Alonso-Vettel duel for that third championship. However, I will be thrilled if Romain wins, as it'll be the first French winner since Olivier Panis, I think.

Lol, no, not at all. I wouldn't call myself a McLaren fan, more a general fan of F1, I just apreciate great performances, be it Alonso, Hamilton, Vettel, Grosjean or anyone for that matter. At this stage Alonso has been outstanding, amazing, just sublime and fully deserves to win the WDC, however being a selfish viewer I'd just prefer he didn't run off into the distance with it.. so only hoping for an Alonso DNF to keep the championship interesting and ideally would love a last race nail biting finale.

These tyres are to good, they are not wearing and spicing up the show enough at the end of the race?? ;)

Kimi had Kers problems apparently, but yes, great drive from Ham too :)

I think Lewis is going to hang on.. as long as he continues to nail that last corner onto the main straight.

well, good win for Hamilton, great drive for Kimi and Romain. Vettel also drove well to finish in front of Alonso.

Exactly what did Bieber do? Not win the race in the best car? ok, he did do that.

I suppose your right, he didn't improve on his qualy position... but best car? I dont think so, certainly not at this circuit.

Happy Birthday Alonso?

Oh I bet Alonso and Hamilton wish they'd swapped each other's races between Germany and Hungary. Then Alonso could win on his 31st b'day like Jean Alesi, and Hamilton wins his 100th GP.

Hardly a dominant victory by Ali G. I'd say he sh!t his pants when Kimi came out of nowhere. :D
Honorable mention goes to Alonso, again for damage control. Justin Bieber just disappointed, so did Webber.
I would not say that Macca are back, yet look out for Lotus in the second half!

According to Garry Vettel is a mediocre drivers and costs Red Bull good finishes...

Yep, his hatred of Vettel/Red Bull must be clouding his judgement, despite their Kers power disadvantage, I think its pretty clear that Lotus had the best car today... and thats even without the forthcoming front F-duct they should have for Spa!

Yes, today Lotus were the best car, but for the weekend it was hands down the McLaren and I am not saying it to diminish the success of Hamilton, but to say bravo to Martin Whitmarsch and the team. In the UK it seemed that it is all over and now they won again.

They still give you 25 points for winning by one second. If you're trying to manage your tyres and fuel load, while also being careful not to take too much life out of your engine and gearbox, why would anybody want to scamper off into the distance? :)

This was not a bad race, but it was definitely the "Valencia 2011" race of the year 2012 so far. Somewhat boring relative to the rest of events. Much of the outcome was determined by qualification result, who changed tires, when, and how fast. I was watching race recording on DVR with my dad after a lunch, and we both were kind of falling asleep in the middle of it. Last year Hungary was good, but that was due to the changing weather conditions.

That's one way of looking at it. Of course the other way is: He barely hung on! "Kimi is catching you. Stay calm"! :D
