Apparently there is a slight rumbling about a Chicago street race to replace the China date and complete the magic 16 race schedule. According to the article, Mayor Byrne had an F1 layout ready in 1981 that never happened.
Chicago is absolutely the most beautiful city in the world (FER REAL). My mind keeps going over and over where they would put the race course. For sure Lake Shore Drive around Buckingham Fountain, the Museum Campus and Soldier Field should be incorporated and if there were a way, lower Wacker Drive where the Blues Brothers held their timeless police chases should be used also.
If anyone has a way to overlay a fantasy Chicago street course layout on a map of downtown Chicago, please share your ideas .
If not this year, maybe next ?
And on a related note... there are more substantial rumblings of IndyCar coming back to Chicagoland Speedway. The Texas race proved 1.5 mile high bank D ovals can be successful driver tracks.
For now, no IndyCar race at Chicagoland - Chicago Sun-Times (http://www.suntimes.com/sports/autoracing/13168975-419/for-now-no-indycar-race-at-chicagoland.html)
