The whole year without live TV and now a rally with all stages live on TV. With all the problems we know about the upcoming year, in my land this is called to get fat to die. :(
Let's enjoy the moment...

perfect...once more the french are going to broadcast their event live...lets hope we get pacenotes this time and not a rallyradio voice-over like last time....it was the reason i turned the thing off.

But on what kind of channel will it be broadcasted? If it is a payed channel, only available in France, then good for the French but not for the rest.

An online stream combined with live TV would be ideal
Massive thumbs up for the initiative though!

I wouldn't get too excited just yet.

I'm sure this will be just like all the Live TV projects that have happened in the WRC so far this year (Sweden, Argentina, Portugal, Mexico) and only be available in France through those channels. Unless someone can come up with a way to crack their geo-locks?

For me it seems a way for Citroen (who most probably is paying that) to say goodbye to their French fans, i hope i'll be wrong though...

He is a very talented driver for sure. At least he was.
On Barum he drove for the points and still was faster on many occasions than the local Mitsubishi and Subaru drivers.

He crashed with the Proton on testing few weeks ago. I think he will be slower that PG.

Don't forget that none of the fast locals on Barum had R4. Orsák who was closest (except the change of tyre on one stage) also had only N4 spec. Evo IX. In CZ most of the Evo/Impreza drivers prefer using N4 cars and to fight for class victory instead of being behind quite numerous S2000 cars in class 2.

I did not count that in mind :)

In any case the rally was valid for the CZ championship so this was another reason I assume.

true, but be honest, nobody really expected Nikara in finish, i bet at least Aigner not, this was just crazy angry flat out after his early technical problems. There was simply no reason for Andi to push hard.

regarding N4: so far for me there was no improvement visible at any driver which changed from N4 to R4, so i don´t believe its a very big advantage to have R4-kit!
And don´t forget Aigner captured his PWRC-title in a close fight with Hänninen!

But finally i agree, Aigner will not be able to fight with top-S2000 pilots in france, in the last years he simply has a lack of stage-kms + it´s the first rallye for him in an S2000!

Mirek

With all respect to Andi in 2008 it was not a real fight with Juho who had technical problems in almost every rally. Despite that he won 51 stages compared to 11 of Andi.

And that was one of the first years that Juho started to grow to a top driver he's probably now 3 times faster as then..

Ok, to be honest that fact disappeared in my mind, but still i doubt Aigner is a bad pick, with an age of 27 he still can have a good future in this sport, and that he can be quick on stages like in france he prooved with an 6th place in Rallye Deutschland 2006. Btw Proton made the decission of picking him after the test (including an off), so i guess he made his lessons.

Regarding Nikara: I agree he would deserve a chance in a proper car, i still have his crazy ride from the star driver shootout in his Fiesta ST in my mind (the crazy kid lost his underfloorprotection during rough sliding, and kept pushing as hell) but first i think he has to learn to keep the car on the road.

Harrach vs Baumshlager had the same difference with n4 -r4 version of Harrachs evo9?

Aigner before some years was a talent.Since all these days, competitors like Hanninen have huge progress.Maybe the train is lost for him.

Yes difference after changing to R4 was the same, advantage of a couple of seconds per rallye for Harrach before and after. Same with Saibel for example, wasn´t it the same with Orsak in Czech republik?

In terms of speed i doubt Aigner would be faster than Harrach, but Harrach make too much mistakes, even when he is in an comfortable lead, but hard to say, Aigner did only Jänner rallye this year with a bad flew and an early technical out....Aigners outings in ÖRM 2011 with the R3 Clio were impressive and even more impressive to watch though.

But you might be right, the train is maybe lost, hard for rallye drivers in this days....

why i remember that while with n4 was loosing, when he switched to r4 he won 3-4 rallies?I am not remember right? Orsak is not a benchmark when he wasloosing minutes from Pech with same car.

When you try to compete best s2000 car, with a road car 2005 model yes mistake is possible to happen. How many offs had Harrach last 2 years? Again i remember him very steady even hunting Baumshlagers fabia.Or i am not remember right again?

I don´t know why, last 2 rallyes with N4 56 seconds and 50 seconds overall lead for Beppo, first 2 rallyes with R4 46 seconds and 5 seconds overall lead for Beppo, nobody made big mistakes.

I agree, Beppo is allways on the limit or close to it, that´s for sure the reason why he had 3 DNF´s caused by accidents out of 6 rallyes this year.

2008 if I am correct. Was very cold that year, and roads were icy. By having an off in recce of a tarmac event is a bit strange.

But it happens :) I can show You a corner of former Barum stage Semetín where many drivers went off during recce (I think also Loix). Quite often locals going home, shopping etc. play the role in such moments. Many stages are narrow and full of blind corners with usually no traffic at all.

A Porsche GT3 is a bit different from a full blown WRC of course. But that experience should really help him. It's always nice to see new guys shaking things up a bit, let's hope he can make an impact. The Mini proved last year it was good on asphalt, though Dani struggled this year in Germany.

He is very fast in his Porsche but it will be his first time in a WRC so it will take some time before he sets good times. He said that his goal for this rally was to bring the car back and consistently improve his time throughout the weekend. If there is some incidents with the "usual" WRC competitors, he can easily get in the point scoring positions i believe

He’s a top driver. You don’t win Le Mans, Nurburgring 24, ALMS, etc without having some talent – he might not be quick right away, but I expect him to progres and his speed to improve as the event goes on. Sportscar drivers are more familiar with Endurance than Rally drivers these days.

S2000's after 4 stages, VW boys show their class.

Ogier
Mikkelsen +1,8
Arzeno +59,2
Breen +59.5
Paddon +1:01.6
Andersson +1:20.5
Gassner +1:32.4

So lets say that is the end result on final day... Ogier and Mikkelsen don't come 1st and 2nd in official standings correct? No points...?

Sordo have problems with something?

Yes, apparently he has problems with brakes, when they are cold they don't work properly only after becoming warm they start working poroperly.

Yes, no SWRC points for VW drivers but in the class (2) they would be 1st and 2nd.

Silly having officials getting model cars and hats to be signed at stage ends to be autographed no? Why are they doing this? They had a show, they have a service park that they can go to! Easy. Rack off!

All French cars have starting number instead of the plate. I think that the French changed rules for competition cars this year and they don't get normal plates anymore.
