KWS Racing have confirmed that their driver Jonathan McLeod will be running the opening race of the season at Hockenheim. He is looking for a top 20 result.

enjoy Hockenheim Alfa Fan, cuz we're all gonna be some kilometers away in Nurburgring :p :

anyway I like this track so I'm aiming to stop being the Adrian Sutil of this series!

lol just realised that!! DTM always starts in Hockenheim though

Always does, i just mixed up the calendar from the last two series though, for no reason other than to be different :)

damn, that's the first time I've drive - or seen - this track! what a bitch!

I worked my way down to the low 1:06's, but judging by last year's results I still have a ways to go.

I hope I can pull away at the start and don't actually have to RACE any other cars on this track. that would be a bear!

harvick#1

I was in the low 1m16's with a default set-up along with lowest tire pressures and compound. so I should be able to pick up alot more

If you're only in the low 1:16s I might have a chance of not coming last! :D

well considering that I got a 1:04.90 last night (50th on codies), and that people were qualifying in the mid-to-high 1:03's here last year, I fully expect you to be in the LOW 1:03's Adam!

now get to work!

I ran a 1m.04.79 seconds :s but its ahead of J.S.

some corners are a complete pain in the ass, espcially the turn that makes the track the short version.

I've been having some trouble getting through the Chicane

Monkeyboy racing is yet to run at this circuit, but will roll out the mighty Vectra tomorrow for some sighting laps and testing. The team is not expecting great results in its rookie year, but a top 10 finish would be a great result at this circuit.

With reason of technical problems during race (very low fps), I have to withdraw from DTM (and all the other) championships. Besides I have problem with access to internet, and will be absent for some time on forum probably. I hope, that I will get through with these problems quickly.

See you soon.

Since I have been struggled very much with speed and reliability, I've decided to leave the track and go back to the shop and find out whats going on with the car.

with harder tires I was running very slow and decided I am going to run a limited schedule in the series as I also start work on monday again.

I hope for the best for everyone at Nurburgring and I'll be back at the tracks I enjoy :)

Did some re-thinking with set up & it has paid off - posted a 1m.03.23 on time trial. Qualifying was super quick on soft tyres but in race trim using 85% tyres was not able to get near my qualifying time. I got the car handling very well -to do consistent times - which is very difficult on this track. Pretty confident of a podium spot to start the season!!

times due Thursday!

looks like it's time for me to stop working on unlocking the international V8 tour and get back behind the wheel of my DTM car!

this'll be an interesting race. I've had a respectable pace in practice, but I haven't done any work on a race set up yet and time is running out.

I hope I can finish with-in, say, half a lap of the winner.

that would be huge for me, and seems doable.

IF I have a perfect race and can be fast over a whole race, instead of just fast over one lap every so-often.

ok, I take that back. I'll just shoot to finish ANYwhere on the lead lap :D

Brown, Jon Brow

Done my race - pretty pleased with it. Qually was good - managed to better my PB by a little way.

Race was trickier on much harder rubber - couldn't get anywhere near that time even when the tyres were fully heated about 8 laps in. After that the times were pretty consistent lap-by-lap, although they dropped off again towards the end as the tyres started to wear.

I'd be happy with a Top 5, Podium would be fantastic.

Brown, Jon Brow
4th April 2007, 11:12
If I remember to soften the suspension before the race and avoid those rocks....sorry.......tyres at the chicane, I think that I should get a podium.

I am evil Homer
4th April 2007, 13:00
I did that...but even with harder tyres running the curbs affects the wear rate towards the end.

52Paddy
4th April 2007, 14:06
I've got to stop popping up out of nowhere. I keep doing that and disappearing again. Anyway, I did this race. Wasn't too pleased with the overall performance but with no race rules, I was delighted not to be slapped with a penalty. I didn't do anything to the setup of the car, which wasn't wise because I struggled with a lot of over-steer and was fighting the car around a lot of the corners. This aggressiveness lead to me blowing a tyre on lap 10 and I had to pit. I am no where near the pace of you guys and don't expect to finish well but sure, at least I've made it to the end. I don't think I'll frequent this series too much. I'm not hopeful of a top 8 and couldn't go a third year with no points at the end of the series.

johnny shell
4th April 2007, 14:46
that's the most ****ed up race I've ever run!

driving those beasts around that track is like trying to get it on in a broom closet!

twice per lap you got to stretch you legs though. that was nice.

I bet this is the slowest track on the whole circuit. take a lot of finesse.

can anyone confirm that?

I am evil Homer
4th April 2007, 17:37
Oscherslaben has some pretty slow bits...but IMO is a more interesting circuit. Shame the game doesn't have the DTM on the longer track config....was it TRD! that had that or 2? Either way that was a lot of fun :)

Brown, Jon Brow
4th April 2007, 23:16
I've done my races and I think that it was an average performance.

I got an awful start and dropped down from pole to 10th, but I was back in 1st place after the 2nd turn. Laps 2-7 were very consistent with only a 0.15 second range, but after about lap 9 my 82% hard tyres began to give up. however my slowest flying lap was only 1.5sec's off my fastest race lap.

My raw pace though was rubbish and it felt slower than last year's race :bigcry:

Peter Vuko

This track is one of the mosty difficult to set up for. I think the secret was in the downforce - I initially was using 50% rear & 75% front but the car felt too unsteady after 4-5 laps. I eventually used 100% rear & 150% front & the car felt much, much better. I was able to tweak the gearing so the car had excellent acceleration out of corners.

I had downforce at about 100% front and 70% rear and the car didn't feel edgy or difficult to control.

Gearing! I shorten the top gears and lengthen the bottom gears so I can maxamise the the use of every gear and get rapid acceleration that Vuko talks about. In a race you rarely go below 50mph, so I set up 1st gear to work at this speed, but when the lights went green I had no acceleration from 0-40mph :( . So I lost about 2 seconds at the start.

reading about your races just reminds me how ****ty my own was the other night.

makes me feel like such a fool to be running around the way I was - tires squealing like sick pig all over the place and all.

I am outraged by these rumours  I am very proffesional about my racing career, I don't drink before races or smoke during them, I also make sure i have a balanced diet (plenty of beans on toast) and 14hours sleep a day. Mercedes don't pay for me to go out partying, they are trying to lose that image after Kimi left the F1 team. :p

i've heard the rumours that JB lurks around the local zoo's, flirting with the giraffes..and also swims with the penguins, feeding them fish, or at least he thinks its fish, but its actually the remains of the curry he's had that he had to bring back up due to swimming upside down, and trying to get it on with an elephant.......

I guess I had the worst race of my life I'm quite sure I'm gonna be last in this round!

First of all never found a set-up that made me happy, alright qualy was good so was the race start but nearing the end of lap 2 I went a bit off-road and got some suspension damage didn't care at that time but from lap 6 I realized the tyres I chose were too soft and the suspension damage wasn't helping, after some quite bad laps the cherry on the cake was my back right tyre exploding at the beggining of the last lap, had to limp the car on 3 tyres(2 after the chicane) so I wa lucky enough to get to the finish line, should have pit around lap 10 anyway...

I'm happy to be 2nd in my first race. I choose too soft tyres for the race (45% Compound) so I have some understeer in closing stages of the race. Peter Vuko was only 1 second faster so I'm happy despite that. Now I have more experience and I looking forward to second round on Oscherslaben.

A good way to start the season! I think Piotr B will be hard to keep out though. He must have been struggling by the end on 45% tyres - good for quick times but... I used 80%. What happened to J.B? He did the race, but I see no mention of his name in the results!

Happy to get some points..
It was a good, steady race, but my laps were consistent, and perhaps a bit cautious. Tire hardness was spot on in the 80's...

JB's results seemed to go AWOL, i never received them in my inbox, yet it is obvious he had done the race, so the results have been amended accordingly....

The dates have been set so as not to clash with Peter's TRD3 V8 Championship, making it easier for everyone running in both series.

The V8s are this week, DTM is next week. Thats how it will be all season.

How about we use the hadicapping system used in the V8 series.

Pos 1-5 No Hadicap
Pos 6-10 -1 second
Pos 11-15 -2 seconds
Pos 16-20 -3 seconds
and so on

Not a bad start...R_I got the better of me - last few laps the tyres went off and I struggled. Chose 65% hard...maybe should have gone to 75% in hindsight.

Still, quite like the next track :)

That's a good website. Great idea to make one for both series.
