I just noticed this website -

F1 RACE DVD,FORMULA 1, F1 FULL SEASON BOXSETS 1973-2011 (http://www.formulaonestuff.com/4.html)

Does anyone know if they are genuine?

Or if anyone knows of a good source of getting races from the 90's.

Thanks!

Don'y know. Never used the website before, it looks quite good if you need races but maybe order a single first to see if it arrives.

I'm not sure. I came across that website about a month back and I mailed them. If it's real and they aren't trying to rip people off then it's great. I'd love to know for sure but not going to give up that kind of money until I hear verification from someone else.

That website looks fruity as hell. Says nowhere about them being authorized by a respectable payment vendor either, if they take online payment that is. If someone has that kinda F1 video archive, they could at least afford to make a better website. :D

I'd say talk to the sales team and do some Google research on them before placing any order. Searching Google with the word "scam" attached to the business name usually helps. ;)

That price much higher then I expected, but if its a DVD/race its understandable.

I seriously doubt these are officially authorised. More than likely recordings off the tele.

Either that or simply copies of commercially available season reviews.

Official F1 reviews began in 1981 (list (http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/f1-information/reviews/video/official-f1-season-reviews/)) but prior to that there were season highlight videos available from Duke produced which are now on DVD (link (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Formula-Grand-Prix-Collection-1970-79/dp/B0002W1AYQ)).

Likely.

Several years ago I purchased an F1 dvd 3-race set from ebay and the picture quality was horrible, almost unwatchable. It seemed that the dvds were created from a VHS tape copied from the television feed :s .

If anything, I’d e-mail them and ask the source and/or quality of the dvd reproductions.

Well made websites can also be scam websites of course.

I have no doubt that the DVDs linked are not authorised by FOM, indeed, I emailed Duke Video (the producers of the Official FOCA / FOM annual review videos / DVDs that have been produced since 1981) on behalf of this forum some time ago and they stated the reason that you can't get the reviews for 1981 - 2002 on DVD is because of licensing issues. Therefore the only semi-legitimate way to have all the World Championship Seasons from this era on DVD is to own the VHS copies and make a "back-up" on DVD. Also for anyone with Sky Sports F1 HD they regularly screen season reviews from past seasons, I believe they are the Front Runner produced reviews which are more consistant and concise than the FOCA / FOM ones which have regularly changed in terms of style, presentation, length and depth over the years.
