View Full Version : There's nothing on earth like a geniune, bonafide, electrified, six-car monorail!

And Hobart wants it:

Hobart wants OUR monorail! - ABC Sydney - Australian Broadcasting Corporation (http://www.abc.net.au/local/stories/2012/03/28/3465431.htm)
Sydney may be prepared to pack up the Monorail and get rid of it, but Hobart City Council wants it. And they want it for free!
Ron Christie is the Deputy Mayor of Hobart, and if there's one thing he's passionate about, it's having Sydney's used Monorail installed in Hobart.
- 702 ABC Sydney, 28th Mar 2012.

The Premier of NSW Barry O'Farrell has said that he intends that the Sydney Monorail be pulled down. The Monorail goes from nowhere to nowhere and does it by going around in circles.
Since the announcement was made, the City of Hobart, Parramatta and Blacktown Councils in Sydney's west have all put their hands up and said that they've wanted it.

Every time anything about this is mentioned on the news, I just can't help but think of Lyle Lanley from The Simpsons.

I hope they don't take the tracks down that go over the city, they add a bit of character.
It was ridiculously expensive and redundant though, so I'm glad that they've stopped running it.

FOR FREE?! Come on, Hobart.
Give it to Parra or Blacktown. It's still part of the city's history and should stay in our city. I remember catching it when I was about four years old and thought it was brilliant!

I wouldn't mind our city councillors scooping up that second-hand monorail. This city’s public transportation system is archaic :s

This story gets even better:

The Sydney Morning Herald even roped in the Mayor of Sydney to help them out with this video.
