Have we had a thread of pets?

Anyway, Eki posted a picture of his cat in another thread so I figured it would be nice to see what sort of heart-thieves you have in your homes ? :)

This our cat, his name is Pieni Hulk, in english it's Little Hulk.

No current pets.

Our beloved pooch, Clancy, kicked the bucket of old age about 5 years ago and we haven’t had him replaced.
Perhaps when my eldest is old enough to responsibly poop ‘n scoop we might consider a new dog :D

Growing up there was always some combination of cats 'n dogs in the family.
(The last family cat’s name was Matti (don’t ask, long story... :p : ))

We have 2 dalmations, a horse and 5 ducks.. none were my idea, lol.

Not a fan of the dogs... they fart, leave hair everywhere and always up to all sorts of mischief when my back is turned, when they go they wont be getting replaced if I have anything to do with it. ;)

The horse is a character and a half, she's a 23 year old thoroughbred called Tina, wired to the moon and a true free spirit, when out hacking will remind you from time to time that she is definately the boss.. :D

The ducks are amusing they all have their own personalities and give us 4 fresh eggs most mornings.. :)

Get an indoor cat. My cat never even wants to go out. She's just like Wikipedia says British shorthair cats are:

British Shorthair - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Shorthair)

British Shorthairs are an easygoing breed of cat. They have a stable character and take well to being kept as indoor-only cats, making them ideal for apartment living. They are not terribly demanding of attention, though they will let their owner know if they feel like playing. They enjoy mouse type or stick style toys. They are not hyperactive cats, preferring to sit close to their owners rather than on them. They might supervise household activities from a comfortable perch or perhaps the floor.

British Shorthairs are wonderful cats for people who work, as they are very happy to simply laze around the house while their owner is out. They do not get destructive or need other animals for company, though they do enjoy having another British Shorthair or a cat with similar temperament around.

They like attention and enjoy being petted. They are not a very vocal breed but will meow to communicate with their owners, for example when they are hungry and their food is being prepared. They may also meow at their favourite toy as they play with it. British Shorthairs have a tendency to follow people from room to room, as they may want to be with their owner and see what is going on. Some do not mind being cuddled, but most prefer to keep four paws on the ground and be patted rather than picked up.

The breed has become a favourite of animal trainers because of its nature and intelligence, and in recent years these cats have appeared in Hollywood films and television commercials.[6] They can learn small tricks spontaneously.

I have a nano fishtank with about 5 pigmy corys, 10 or so rasbora bigittae swimming around, some assassin snails, red cherry shrimp and two Armano shrimp called Shaun (the shrimp) and Spartacus (the shrimp).

My next door neighbour has a Chihuahua that is about to have puppies in about 2 weeks time. Must resist! Must resist!

Henners, I know what you mean about not having the time to dedicate to a dog. I would love a dog but we just don't have the time as there is noone home during the day. Realistically, I don't think we can have one until we retire which won't be anytime soon. It won't stop me whining about getting a chihuahua puppy went next doors dog has her puppies though. :D Fish tanks are no fun. :(

Not a massive fan of pets but don't have any spare time so doesn't really bother me. I think when I was around 7-8 was out with a friend and had a proper fright when a massive fierce.alsatian jumped out at us and always been suspicious of dogs since and will sometimes even cross the road when walking along to avoid! Must be subconscious like. Don't mind Pino's dogs though  I am allergic to cats and avoid like the plague!!

That's the idea for now, then when I get my house I'll be generous and get a cat and a dog. I grew up at my grandparents farm and we had couple dogs, cats, horses etc.. and I wish I could afford that nowadays.

My bro got 2 cats and those are, as you mentioned, really expensive when you count the food, vitamins and frequent visits to the veterinarian. But then again when you're addicted there's no way back!

St.Bernards were raised alongside cats, so they are used to them and there usually aren't any problems. They get along pretty fine. They are pretty docile and friendly dogs anyway.
Now, regarding fish, some cats take great interest in them, but they have no way of "accessing" the aquarium, despite their best efforts, so thankfully no problems there either.

Better save some money ioan. Our cat eats better than we do :mark: Weirdly, considering all, my pets require far more money for food altogether than me and my better half.

To be honest the snail I have (generic picture, but it looks just like the one in my aquarium):

http://www.applesnail.net/content/multi_languages/images/pomacea_can_behind.jpg

is far more decorative than my fish (again not an actual picture of my fish, but they do look exactly like these):

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6hbcfHUov98/TankyTCiWNI/AAAAAAAAAMg/QEL_KQDulnQ/s320/Bronze+corydoras+-+Corydoras+aeneus+photos.jpg

On top of it it keeps the aquarium glass clean from algae.

Also both these fish and the snail are highly entertaining to watch! You have to see it to believe it!

BTW I'd love to keep a cat and a dog, however I would not do it before I get a house with a large back yard.

I used to have a pet rabbit. My wife and I once went out for a walk with him keeping him in our arms. One stray cat took a really great interest in our little friend and followed us for a while till he realized we were not an easy prey for him. Cats are predators like no other species.

Los Angeles man wakes in the night to find 500-pound bear raiding his fridge
Published March 15, 2012

LOS ANGELES – A Los Angeles man investigating noises coming from his garage in the middle of the night stumbled upon a 500-pound black bear, with food all over its face, raiding his fridge.
Glendale resident Joey Ball said the hungry bear tore through his freezer, eating tuna and Costco meatballs.
"He had steam coming out of his nose, and he had food on his face. It was crazy!" Ball told KTLA on Wednesday.
The bear apparently entered the garage through an outside door that had been left open.
"He had the refrigerator door open," Ball said. "And he had all these drawers laying around and there was food everywhere.
"As soon as I saw him, he looked at me, I thought, 'uh-oh!' So I locked the door on the dead bolt.
"You could hear him eating, slapping his gums."
Ball called police, who arrived with shotguns, but the bear had already made its escape into the surrounding hills.
