OK here's the answer:

The country is Thailand

cowpat is Khao pad, or khao phat depending on the transliteration, and means fried rice (Thai style)

so we get

cowpat poo = khao pad poo = fried rice with crab
cowpat moo = Khao pad moo = fried rice with pork (Yes, I'd expect 'moo' to be beef, but it's pork)
cowpat high dung = khao pad khai dao = fried rice with egg (khai) and with a fried egg on top (dao)

I apologise for the last one - I remembered it as wrongly as "khai dang"

Yes, you’re spot on. The Durupinar feature is a geological anomaly located in eastern Turkey, about 30kms south of Mount Arafat. Viewed from the air it reassembles a large boat and, coupled with its location, has been often been thought to be the remnants of Noah’s ark.
Only with recent on-site examination has it been confirmed to be nothing more than a natural geological feature, not unlike others in the region.

Just been reading about a fascinating gas crater that has been burning constantly for nearly 40 years. It is known by some as 'The Gates of Hell'. It's thought that gas exploration by the Soviets in the 70s went horribly wrong and the gas in the crater would just burn out. The crater can be found north of the city of Ashgabat and has become something of a 'must see' for some more adventurous travellers.

So.... In which desert and country can this crater be found?

It is not Boston. This is not a complicated question. The US as all of us know was explored by several European countries, Spain, England, Portugal, France, and I'm probably leaving someone out.
These countries had settlements. I'm looking for the one that is the oldest and continually occupied into the present. Does that clear things up?
The reason I say European-established is because
Acoma Pueblo or "Sky City" in New Mexico has been continually occupied since roughly 1,000 CE
But it is not a city in the sense that we usually consider.
It was, and is more of a community.

I only consider 2 motorsports "sports" and in rally mainly gravel or snow only.

Actually Motor Division ----which was bikes and chainsaws and lawnmowers in 1976 was 3% of company sales.
they made about 6500 bikes in '76
And "Vappe" ("vapenfabrik" ) was around 49 largest Swedish Company in terms of turnover,

So motorsports was part of a household products company (sewing machines, stoves, waffel irons, etc) that also made bikes.

And I lived there for around 7 years--quite a while.

I specifically stated that the shortest distance should be over the pole since the earth is widest at the equator. Now I'm wondering does the elliptical nature of the poles counter-balance the wider equator when calculating distance? (I'm digging for a clue here ;) ) Then any truly antipodal points will have to be either on the equator or cross the equator. So I postulated if they were both on the same side of the equator and traveling in this case to the north, that it could be possible to be a shorter distance than a straight line following very close to the equator.

If your news is referring to Romania being antipodal to New Zealand than it may very well be that the capitol of New Zealand is relatively antipodal to Bucharest (unless a neighboring country's capitol is closer to being antipodal than your own, or a country's capitol near New Zealand align better with your capitol) So I will enter an answer on your behalf.
