.now...
Through early afternoon...light rainfall will continue to spread
across the northern sections...especially areas near and north of
interstate 4. The rainfall will mainly be light but become nearly
steady. Rainfall accumulations are expected to range from only trace
amounts up to around a quarter of an inch. The extensive clouds and
rainfall will hold temperatures in the lower to mid 60s in these
areas...and even some upper 50s across far northern interior sections
including northern lake county. To the south of the interstate 4
corridor...rainfall developing will be more spotty and temperatures
will reach into the lower to mid 70s.

If it were to stop raining right now it takes approximatly 2.5 hours to dry a track the size of Daytona. As of now it is still raining......
Sit back and grab a

Here is the radar loop for that area. The track is pretty much right at the "+" Just below the words Daytona Beach.

Was just discussing this very topic with my brother. It would be fitting if this did become the first Daytona 500 postponed due to rain. It seems everything Bri-Bri touches gets messed up. He's famous for turning chicken salad into chicken.....well you know the rest

Just looked at the southeast regional radar picture. This is a train of moisture stretching all the way back to Texas and its aimed straight at Daytona....it will be raining for a day or more if it doesn't shift north.....Might as well call it a day, I'll go out and wash my Mustang :D

Track dryers called to the track at 3:29pm eastern time. There is a small window, but I am just not feeling it today. Guess it really depends on how long NASCAR plans on waiting this out. ISC has sent every piece of track drying equipment in their arsenal to Daytona, so we'll see.....

No worries....it's in the garage :p

Maybe it will draw the rain north from Florida towards North Carolina and we get the race in. I got things to do tomorrow :D
